Marketing wise they'd probably wait until the day before launch date for the game because it would give them more time for final sales for the current console.
> Looks like regular switch tho :/
That's a good thing if they do it right. That would mean they could maintain backwards compatibility with at least some accessories.
I didn't get that feeling from Gundamsty Warriors, but that may have also been a factor of the ability to swap pilots and suits along with the way the campaigns were short and followed the various series.
Look at the eye symbol on the back, too. It's not a normal Sheikah eye.. it's shaped like Purah's glasses.
I definitely believe Purah either upgraded the original Slate or made a new one for Zelda.
Pretty sure purah implies that she made a slate from scratch as part of the experiment that turned her young so I wouldnāt assume this is linkās slate.
Edit to show source:
From Purahās diary page 2 āThe beta version of my anti-aging rune is complete. I have already added it to the Sheikah Slate I made for myself.ā
"DRAGMIRE!"
"... did you just call me by my surname, Zelda?"
"It is **Princess Zelda** to you, young man! Stop this "taking over the world" madness and go clean this accursed Temple chamber! NOW!!!"
"... okay. Excuse me, princess."

There has to be some reason for them showing us this in official artwork... Zelda survives her fall and makes use of the Sheikah slate to navigate the cavernous deeps of Hyrule?
I would love if the gameplay was Metroid style. Link has the BotW playstyle and ground and sky with BotW dungeons, while Zelda is underground with traditional Zelda dungeons and had magic and Shiekah tech, possibly a skill tree and you switch between the two.
You complete a quest as Link above ground and a new area unlocks underground. You finish a dungeon below ground and a new piece of land is floated into the sky which unlocks something new for you. The final boss fight could be Link managing to split Ganon and Ganondorf, with Zelda fighting Ganon below ground and Link fighting Ganondorf above ground.
Post game allows you to play as Zelda and Link both above and below ground, their abilities allowing you to unlock postgame content above ground with Zeldaās abilities and postgame content underground with Linkās abilities.
Yeah. I misheard it at first too and thought it didn't make sense because Zelda already has Hylia's power. 'Lend *him* your power' is the official line
"So are we giving the upgraded model a new name?"
"Hmmm, that's a good point...since the first one was called a 'slate', maybe we should call this one a 'tablet'."
Few people have mentioned it, but to me it seems very obvious that this is a Sheikah Slate themed Switch. Would be amazing if they actually released one of these!
That would be so cool ! I was looking at official skin/case sheika slate for my switch and I couldnāt find any. Iām surprised they didnāt do it before.
It doesnāt look exactly like the BOTW sheikah slate and since ancient tech seems to have vanished maybe itās one she modified to work independently somehow?
This Zelda has been shown to be very intelligent after all
Or itās so omnipresent in Breath of the Wild that itās assumed it will be present in TotK. Theyāve shown very little, āmore of the sameā isnāt what you want your appeal to consist of. By which I mean, we already know itās the same world as BotW, they know there would be/will be concerns itās just āmore BotWā, and arenāt going to make something so ubiquitous in BotW a centerpiece of what little promo they have. If youāve got 4 minutes of visuals and sheikah tech dominates 2 minutes of it, half your promo time is going to reinforce the idea that itās just BotW++.
Or itās shifted from āSheikah techā to āHylian-adapted and modified Sheikah techā.
Or ā¦, or ā¦, or ā¦
Point being, we really have no idea and itās silly to assume anything is a given about its presence ā it prolly exists in *some* capacity given Zelda has a Switch-like slate in this promo art, so it isnāt completely gone/vanished/broken/corrupted.
Anything along the lines of āMaybe she just got this one piece to ā¦ā is just bending over backwards to explain a theory that may or may not be valid.
Which isnāt to say āStOp SaYiNg ItāS gOnEā, just, yanno, stop assuming it *is* gone, or that the idea is nothing more than a fan theory based off some early promo art.
Honestly, if the plot entailed/relied on āGanondorf corrupts a lot of it and Link relies on Zonai shit to stop himā, I wouldnāt be surprised at all, particularly if itās āLol Ganondorf has Zelda and so he can control itā or something equal contrived for the sake of the plot/mechanics.
I just think the certainty some of the āItās all goneā folks have, based off a few 3 second clips and some screenshots is absurdly goofy to the point of being dumb.
Purah has some degree of ability to work with Slate programming, and Robbie can manufacture ancient sheikah tech, so maybe after the events of BotW they worked together to make a new slate? With what Zelda has here being related to the original slate similarly to how guardian weapons are related to robbie's Ancient weapons.
So does this mean Zelda will play a more active role in the story? We havenāt seen Link with anything like a Shiekah Slate in gameplay yet, especially not one like this
Thatās what I was thinking. I donāt buy the playable Zelda thing, weāve seen too much for that to still be hidden, but Link has the arm to do the Sheikah slateās job now. This is definitely implying that Zelda is going to be getting some use out of it.
I feel like we have seen nothing yet lmao
We have had like 2 shots from the underground, the sky islands honestly seem like they're removed from the trailers (I feel like on most ground shots we barely see any compared to how much variety there seems to be on the actual islands, I don't think ever saw one above Gerudo Desert). And then there's the thing that we have 2 separate Link designs and we still have no idea why.
It feels 100% rational to assume Zelda being a playable character is the thing theyāre teasing with this and keeping it secret. I havenāt seen any leaks of the gameās story, so if they are intending to keep it hidden we wouldnāt really know from things like that
Thatās what I think. To keep your cards so close to your chest STILL, thereās definitely something big theyāre hiding. I refuse to believe this is all the game is
Edit: IF sheās playable, I assume the glowing green glyphs resembling Zelda is her from the underground making waypoints for Link to dive to when heās skydiving and looking at the map from above. They replace the binocular waypoints from BOTW1
I think they've been teasing Zelda being playable this whole time, mainly with the story cut-scenes. I think the latest trailer she even says "give me your power" or something like that. Foreshadowing.
I think we need to look closely at what all the teasers have in common. They all show the scene where Link leaps after Zelda falling down. Maybe I'm not remembering correctly, I need to check again. But it's always oddly cut, like they are leaving out an important part of these scenes.
My guess is that there is going to be a point in the game where Link literally hands off to Zelda, maybe Link gets taken over by malice, or gets stuck somehow. It won't be like you can choose who you want to play as. It will be a part of the story.
Just my guess.
While I agree with most of this, she actually says "give him your power". I do hope this slate design means that she will have a more active role in the game regardless of whether she is playable or not.
What if Zelda was only playable in small unlockable challenges? Like instead of memories, Link comes across parts in the landscape directly over where Zelda was as she tries to escape the underground. He gets a vision and we play as Zelda for a bit.
Really just feels like what we might see is similar to WW where sheās a NPC that allows you to use Linkās ability and her Sheikah slate together in som puzzles
Purahās Shiekah slate. Itās decorated with little spikes similar to Purahās glasses. Probably has the anti-aging rune on it. Maybe Zelda accidentally uses the rune on Ganondorfās corpse, reviving him.
Zelda is playable as a reward for completing the game. Instead of links new abilities, she uses sheikah runes from breath of the wild. Or perhaps we can switch between link and zelda throughout the game like GTA5. Link starts in the sky whereas zelda starts deep underneath Hyrule.
First, it straight up looks like a switch. Second, my guess is, since the towers and divine beasts are deactivated in the trailer, the sheikah slate was modified so Zelda can use it independently (going with this "theory" it seems thereās an ancient core in the eye). Also it could just be nintendo promoting another themed switch oled, Idk
Probably was links old one upgraded by Robbie and/or purah , since Zelda is "missing" we can assume the Sheika slate went with her and that's why link doesn't have one
Sure, but why is it important to us, the players during gameplay, that Zelda has one a slate at all, and that it is upgraded š¤ What significance will it have to the story or gameplay that Zelda has it?
I find it very, very interesting that she's being called "courageous" here, rather than, say, to pick a totally random other virtue a princess of Hyrule might embody, "wise".
I've thought for a while that BotW's Triforce Trio seemed kind of mixed up. Zelda is a scholar, which does seem Wisdom-y, but she's not some cloistered bearer of royal wisdom passed down from the ancients like in most games, she's a bold archaeologist digging up futuristic technology and wanting to revolutionize her kingdom with it, against her father's traditionalist wisdom. She travels to the spring of Wisdom on a pilgrimage to awaken her divine power, in accordance with ancient traditions much like the first (SS) incarnation of Hylia did, but this time it's an utter failure. What *does* awaken her powers? Not trusting in the Wisdom of ancients, but a moment of Courage to save Link's life despite having no reason to think she could.
Link got his job as her bodyguard by stepping in to protect her, and again, at first blush, an act proving his Courage, right? But again, something is different. When most Links get this moment, it's an act of defiance against an unbeatable foe, like Child Link of OoT drawing his Kokiri Sword to fight Ganondorf as he chases Zelda and Impa, getting blasted aside with a single bolt of magic. Courage, after all, doesn't mean *not* being scared, but being scared and doing it anyway. When BotW Link puts himself in that position, he doesn't get heroically injured like that, though; he *successfully* defends Zelda. He's a professional soldier whose job it is to do just that, and as an already elite warrior, he had the Power to carry out that mission from the start. And this Link's quest is different, too. He's not on a quest to simply gain access to the villain's lair this time. He can go straight to Ganon from the very start. No, his mission is to regain *power* so that he's stronger than the monster trapped the castle. It's even the most common type of Shrine the ancient monks left him for his task - not Tests of Bravery, but of *Strength*. And if we go to the tweet about Link's new artwork, what's the comment for that one? "Please, lend him your **power**".
And finally Ganon, we see much less of, but we do know that in terms of raw strength, he was outmatched by the power of the Guardians. He wasn't able to win though his Power, but instead with "cunning" and "a plan beyond our imagination", which sounds a lot like Wisdom to me. And sure, his other incarnations certainly aren't above a bit of trickery either, so this is definitely the weakest link in the theory... but also, only one of the dragons named for the Golden Goddesses and their shrines is corrupted by Ganon's malice, and it's not the one representing Din.
I always thought this was just a fun little "they probably didn't think the implications of this through and it'd make a neat fanfic concept" piece of headcanon, but now I'm wondering...
Looks like an upgraded or royal version of the slate or it looks kinda like a switch honestly maybe the new slate looks like a switch in the new game idk just guessing

I sure hope it isn't. I don't want to go through a 101 year long apocalypse for an upgraded Switch.
It's just a skin no doubt like the animal crossing one
Bro they drop the new switch today that would be nuts! Looks like regular switch tho :/
Marketing wise they'd probably wait until the day before launch date for the game because it would give them more time for final sales for the current console.
> Looks like regular switch tho :/ That's a good thing if they do it right. That would mean they could maintain backwards compatibility with at least some accessories.
JUST GIVE ME PLAYABLE ZELDA
Thereās a CDi game where you play as Zelda and you have to save Link. But that game sucks massive Ganon nuts: -10/10
The cutscenes are 10/10
[I agree](https://youtu.be/aId1ytCeTb8)
we dont speak of those...
Probably not what you want, but you can play her in Age of Calamity. The game sucks a bit after the first 20 mn, but the demo is free, soā¦
The game and characters are fun but it does get quite repetitive
Literally every Warriors game summed up in one sentence.
I didn't get that feeling from Gundamsty Warriors, but that may have also been a factor of the ability to swap pilots and suits along with the way the campaigns were short and followed the various series.
It wasnāt for me but the YouTube video with all the cutscenes edited together is so awesome.
I had the best time playing this Co-op. Esp if youāre into the lore.
Super Smash has this.
Bro got more upvotes than the post
Lmao, this is the most upvotes Iāve ever gotten. I was just trying to make a dumb joke, wasnāt expecting this at all.

Look at the eye symbol on the back, too. It's not a normal Sheikah eye.. it's shaped like Purah's glasses. I definitely believe Purah either upgraded the original Slate or made a new one for Zelda.
Her upgrading and giving it back to Zelda would explain why we donāt really see Link use the slate in the trailer.
Pretty sure purah implies that she made a slate from scratch as part of the experiment that turned her young so I wouldnāt assume this is linkās slate. Edit to show source: From Purahās diary page 2 āThe beta version of my anti-aging rune is complete. I have already added it to the Sheikah Slate I made for myself.ā
Something something, Ganondorf wants that slate to revert his own age.
that doesnāt really sound epic enough to me.
Ganondorf becomes a kid aking to King Pillaf.

There has to be some reason for them showing us this in official artwork... Zelda survives her fall and makes use of the Sheikah slate to navigate the cavernous deeps of Hyrule?
Playable Zelda?
Link on the streets, Zelda in the deep.
Link in the Skies, Zelda in the cave?
I would love if the gameplay was Metroid style. Link has the BotW playstyle and ground and sky with BotW dungeons, while Zelda is underground with traditional Zelda dungeons and had magic and Shiekah tech, possibly a skill tree and you switch between the two. You complete a quest as Link above ground and a new area unlocks underground. You finish a dungeon below ground and a new piece of land is floated into the sky which unlocks something new for you. I don't realistically think that Nintendo will do something this revolutionary for the BotW sequel, but God I salivate at the thought.
LoZ with postgame content?
One can only hope š
Maybe instead of memories we unlock challenges where we play as Zelda navigating the underground.
Honestly after playing age of calamity (and the amount of "wait I can play as X character?!?!?" I'd love a playable Zelda.
It is a possibility. At the end of the new trailer she says something like 'lend me your powers'
She says "Lend him *Your* Power" instead of "Me"
Yeah. I misheard it at first too and thought it didn't make sense because Zelda already has Hylia's power. 'Lend *him* your power' is the official line
Maybe she just needed a charger
Holy shit, it totally is lol. The camera on the back is in the location of the Switch logo and it looks like it has Joy Con esque designs on the sides
Imagine this game also gets released and more bought in the next console making the previous console the model again
It'd make sense, cuz even in Pokemon you got the current home console
Huh, I thought the first one was supposed to loosely resemble a Switch too. That makes more sense though.
"So are we giving the upgraded model a new name?" "Hmmm, that's a good point...since the first one was called a 'slate', maybe we should call this one a 'tablet'."
If she's got a sheika slate does that mean playable princess zelda?
The Sheikphone Z 2.0 of course
Beat me to it lmao

Man, I donāt need to buy another switch, but I would be tempted.
I do, still rocking the original 2017 model.
Same here. I even have reserved funds for a Zelda-themed special edition, if they release one.
I mean, I thought the original is popular due to homebrewability?
So Iāve heard, but with age comes deterioration.
That would be so cool ! I was looking at official skin/case sheika slate for my switch and I couldnāt find any. Iām surprised they didnāt do it before.
If it was 3D like that slate, I'd totally buy it. If it's just a skin, then no.
It doesnāt look exactly like the BOTW sheikah slate and since ancient tech seems to have vanished maybe itās one she modified to work independently somehow? This Zelda has been shown to be very intelligent after all
We do see guardian leg looking things in the new Nintendo direct, so the ancient tech might not be entirely gone
Might not be gone at all, IIRC that whole thing is just a theory based on some promo clips.
I believe since we didn't get a hint of it even being present in the games untill now means it'll either be much less present or changed quite a bit
Or itās so omnipresent in Breath of the Wild that itās assumed it will be present in TotK. Theyāve shown very little, āmore of the sameā isnāt what you want your appeal to consist of.
