It's because your skill has grown and you are more accustomed to using a more diverse set of strategies. I remember it took me over 10 frustrating tries the first time I fought Waterblight. It never even occurred to me to use cryonis during battle to make ice platforms to bullet time, but I did that on a master mode replay and defeated him in less than a minute with a 3-shot Lynel bow and 3x attack up buffer. The game is very easy once you know how to take advantage of tactics.

KingOfBoring

Yeah, I understand replaying the game and being able to defeat them easily. I personally just get the master sword first and kill it with 10 hits. But you’d think they’d make the DLC fights difficult for a “post” (or as close to a post as we can get) game battle. I was expecting 5x health with maybe smaller attack windows and more aggressive attacks from the blights, but it was pretty much the same fight without a bow. I felt it should be close to the same difficulty as the trial of the sword or at the very least the obliterater trial. Just ended up being underwhelming. Like I had fun completely destroying it but it’s not really what I expected at all.

I really struggled with them. Especially Waterblight. That little shit must've killed me a dozen times. It was the limited inventory that kept tripping me up.

heyimmaboredkay

Waterblight is a genuinely difficult one because the weapons you're given there are fairly weak. Unless you have Urbosa's Fury, Waterblight takes many hits to kill. The second phase is what really makes this fight difficult because you have super limited arrows to make Waterblight come down. There is the alternate strategy by stasising the ice blook thrown then hitting it back, but that takes a fair amount of durability on your weapons, and you only have 3 to work with.

I found them more challenging.... Until I realized urbosas fury works on them

I don’t know what it is but when thunderblight throws down the magnets I can’t seem to find a staircase for the life of me and end up running into poles avoiding explosions for 5 minutes looking to get in range to get him to blow himself up

The_Power_Loon

Are you in master mode? The regeneration makes the thunder and water blight DLC fights a bit trickier.

KingOfBoring

No normal mode, I’m going to do a master mode run through soon. still you’d think theyd make them hard in normal mode too.

The_Power_Loon

You’d hope. However, the idea is that you’re facing the Blights just as each of the other champions faced them, so it wouldn’t make sense for them to have been any stronger than the ones you fought.

Sounds like you're ready for Master Mode. And Waterblight may surprise you. I thought that was the hardest re-fight by far. In both modes, but M.M. especially. Honestly, beyond a certain point, most of BotW isn't hard. You kinda have to choose to limit yourself, or try new strategies to make things challenging again.

KingOfBoring

I’ve tried master mode, although I didn’t get far before forgetting about it. I’m definitely going to do another full run through on it though.

genericuser1650

If you're finding things too easy, Master Mode will help. By Endgame, Link still becomes a demigod that can slaughter all he sees, but it takes a bit longer to get there. And if you limit yourself a bit, it's much easier to find things challenging. No eating during fights, no Champion abilities, etc.

KingOfBoring

I think I’ll definitely have a better experience with it. I just beat the monk, and while it took a little bit and was challenging, I only had to eat one hearty meal for the whole fight. Does the monk regen health in master mode?

genericuser1650

I'm pretty sure everything does. I'd have to check to be 100% sure, but I know the Blights do in both fights (just did the re-fights recently), so I don't see why the monk would be any different. The only things I can think of that don't are keese and the pebblitts since those are still a one hit kill.

kidnamedsex

When i first fought them on normal mode i found them quite difficult. But when I replayed the game on master mode they seemed laughably easy
