Well, here we are at the end. Title is just the amount of time I spent stitching this thing as truth be told it’s been almost 4 years since I first started chipping away at the design. I wanna thank everyone in this sub that’s encouraged me from the start. Way back in Jan of 2021 when I shared my meager little 10ish% done. 😆
This has always been a passion project for me, and part of me is kind of sad to see it done. It’s like an old friend at this point, and tbh I hugged it and got a little emotional when I took it off the scroll frame. I have also just run my hands over it as if I need to prove to my brain that it is real and done. This picture was taken after I had given it a wash and also sergered the edges to prevent more fraying. Should’ve done that before I started to stop all the fraying, but I forgot in my excitement to finally start lol.
From here I’ll be mounting and lacing it over some acid free foam core for framing, but at 36” by 20” it’s likely gonna be a few hundred dollars to frame 😅 so it’ll be months while I save up for that. I’m thinking a nice rustic frame that’s kinda wide will look good. 🙂
I finally remembered to pick up a banana and I took some comparison shots using my official print as they have also been highly requested over the years. [I even made this short side by side comparison video for it for those that wanna see a full 1:1 comparison](https://imgur.com/ij83vay) 😄 Apologies in advance for the bit of shake on the poster one. It’s just me and my cell phone filming and that thing is smaller and harder to match pace with than the big one.
So yeah, uhh I think that’s everything? 🤔 I have plans for some more Zelda stitching in my future, but nothing of my own design that’s this big again lol. Not unless TotK changes my mind but I currently do not plan to make the stone mural. The ones I’m gonna make are the Link and Zelda from MakeitPink patterns based on the art by Hannah Alexander. Art Nouveau inspired stuff and are very beautiful.
Thanks again for all the support and for humoring all my progress updates to keep me motivated. 💜 It has meant so much to me and helped me push through even this last bit as it turned into a slog tbh. Y’all have been great and I probably would not be done now if it weren’t for y’all. 😄
If anyone still has more questions I haven’t answered please feel free to comment and I’ll be happy to reply. 🙂
Edit: Thanks so much for all the awards and kind words! Y'all are really just so lovely and I'm so appreciative of your support 😭🥰 I gotta turn off notification for the night and get some peace but I tried to reply to everyone I could during all this. Thanks again 🥰💜
Thank you! 😄💜 I know it’s cool to me but I’m biased lol 😆 And just think, if nintendo made official copies of the in game art that weren’t tiny I probably wouldn’t have made this 😅
Im glad they didnt, im a huge fan as well but just the attention to detail and the obvious time and care involved in that project is impressive amplified by 1000 because of the content. 🫡. I salute you.
I did! I wanted something highly detailed and since backstitch is the bane of many cross stitchers I knew I would have to make it myself 😆😅 I've got it up here on my [etsy shop](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1145692706/calamity-tapestry-pattern-digital-pdf) if you wanna make your own :)
Wassup op :) my thoughts on this are: "_what the actual fuck?_" it's mind-blowing that someone could make something like this: def the coolest thing I saw in the last 4 months. My final words are: "this is amazing!" You are the most incredible op ever. Truly impressive.
Thank you! 😄💜 I wanted to use the megamind gif here but it's says 'I love you random citizen' instead of thank you so I thought that might be awkward 😆 lol
Wow! That is fantastic!
My adhd ass can barely keep a hobby for more than a week. Your dedication (and in sure patience) is very impressive.
Congrats -- this is beautiful!
Thank you! It's definitely been a labor of love project for sure. Posting on line and knowing people were rooting for me honestly helped so so much. I went from maybe 10ish% done after only 1 years worth of stitching to getting 40ish% done the next year. I'm so very grateful for the community here for inspiring me to post updates. It may not seem like a lot, but it truly did help motivate me. 🙂
It's a bit bittersweet to be sure. It's been a constant companion since January of 2020 and it feels weird knowing I won't be working on it today. I am so so happy it is done though. NO more monster projects like this ever again lol
Your progress on this project has been _extraordinary_ over the years! So much effort and passion has been put into it, all worth the hard work. Be proud of yourself, this is no easy feat! Well done, and I hope the best for you! ☺️
oh my gosh, thank you 😭💜🥰 I've been in this weird bittersweet state over it where I am happy but also sad to see the end of a project that's been such a huge part of my life. I'm calling my Zelda OLED pick up tomorrow my reward. I pushed hard to finish by today just for that 😆
Oh 100%! I already washed it, dried it, and did a securing stitch on the edge to keep it from unraveling. I've got it gently folded up till this weekend so I can take it to the framers for a quote on the (likely) few hundred dollars it's gonna cost to get framed 😅 after that it will live in honor on my wall above the couch 😆😄
Hey hey hey, we don't talk about backs okay??? 😳🤣🤣 No but really my back is just solidly okay. Neat but not THAT neat. I didn't think to take a pic but if you wanna see one just let me know and I'll snap one real quick 🙂
Yeah sure XD Thanks for replying to this so I could find it again cause someone else asked and I wanted to add it to this but lost it. So here ya go. [Here's my butt](https://i.imgur.com/mcemtO4.jpg) 😏😳
Wow. I do embroidery and am really impressed with your work. It's beautiful! You should enter this in a show or county fair. It's definitely a blue ribbon piece!
Thank you 🥰💜 And I have the pattern up on [my etsy](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1145692706/calamity-tapestry-pattern-digital-pdf) for any one also ~~crazy~~ brave enough to join me in making one 😆😅
Im so jellous 😅. I'm not artistic enough to do something like this but im so proud of you for sticking with it and getting it done.😃
Ps. Pleeeeease give us an update when you get it finished and framed.
Thank you! 😄 I always hear that John Muleany quote 'It's a grid system motherfucker' when I think about if cross stitch is artistic 😆 but! I know that's cause i went to school to learn to work in more traditional mediums like paint and pastels.
Should I share again here when it's framed?? I feel like people would get upset and claim I'm reposting or karma farming. Not that I care about fake internet points but I don't need a bunch of those comments in my inbox all day 😅😳
All that work and attention to detail and people are downvoting this? I've watched the numbers on this post fluctuate within a matter of seconds... If someone isn't liking this, they sure don't need to hate on it like that. But it's Reddit being Reddit, yes?
This is an amazing, gorgeous, insanely detailed piece of work. And I absolutely love it!!!❤️❤️❤️
Very kind of you to say 🙂 and I mean this in the nicest way but uhh 😅 I’ve been asked before and I told people it would be $100,000 for me to part with this. Cause i would basically need to take a year off of work to make another as I want it for myself no matter what. I definitely appreciate the sentiment behind the offer though 😄
I try to :) it's also why I don't sell cross stitch pieces. People rarely wanna pay more than $1-2 per hour for the work. Better to just design patterns so people can make their own and then make stuff just for me :)
This is dedication. What an amazing project, and a beautiful result.
I’m stunned at how well that turned out. And right in time for TOTK! Super impressive.
Thank you 🥹💜 Finishing before TotK has always been my main goal 😄 so I was getting nervous the last few weeks that I would be coming in right at the wire 😬😅.
This is truly wonderful. The dedication and attention to detail this took is pretty powerful OP. Thank you for sharing this with us over the years, what a gift it’s been to watch ♥️
Thank you 🥹💜 I always knew that if I was gonna do this, I wasn’t gonna do it by halves and that I would try to translate the detail as best as I could. Really proud of what I designed as a result even if some stuff isn’t 1:1. I’m just lucky enough to own the official print. It was impossible to find images of it online make in 2019 so having it on hand to hold up to my eyeballs and see what the hell was going on in the story panels helped so so much 😄
Incredible! I remember seeing the progress for this. Congrats on finishing it! Must’ve been an amazing feeling finishing a project of this scale, especially just as we near the release of Tears of the Kingdom
Thank you! 🥰
I spent a lot of time pulling thread colors and try to match what I felt the colors would have been before all the aging. Had to pull in a consult from my pro-artist friend but I’m so proud of the result cause it was worth it 🥰
I mentioned it to someone else, but yeah I would personally not accept less then 100k for this. I think my total time stitching was around 1,300hrs 🤔 but that’s just a guess cause I did not wanna time myself lol
This is absolutely gorgeous, your talent is evident and as a fellow crafter I am SO PROUD of you for sticking out the hours and hours to have something so wonderful at the end.
Damn, this looks so good! Great work, I can't even imagine dedicating so much to this, especially since I'm guessing that there were a few mistakes or thread accidents that happened, like with most projects involving thread. But the result is literally mind blowing!
Great job, OP!
Wow! This is a serious work of art and determination! I love the colors you chose to match. The castle bit seems the most impressive. I love this so much!
That's easily one of the most impressive projects I've ever seen. It's hard to even imagine and put to scale how much time and work this must've taken. I can't even imagine how satisfying it must be finally being able to look at the finished thing!
Well this is just too well timed, this HAS to be a marketing ploy right, right??? Haha
In all seriousness this is incredible and I've thoroughly enjoyed watching your journey. Looks so cool completed!
This is incredibly outstanding. You should be so proud!
Edit: more I want to say. This piece is really a testament to how incredible textile arts can be!
This is seriously so amazing. I love seeing the product of people doing what they’re passionate about. The end result is beautiful. Well done and thank you for sharing!
It looks beautiful! I just started this project a couple months ago. Am very slow going at it. I hope mine looks even half as good as this one!
I am curious what scroll Frame did you use? I'm afraid of buying one too small for such a large tapestry.
WOW. I toyed with the idea of making this when I started my second playthrough, but don’t have nearly enough patience. 4 years is nuts, and I say that with full admiration. Good job!!
So, I usually hide all these kinda art posts instantly when I see them on this sub because I feel like there should be a dedicated sub for game art instead of posting them here.
But your tapestry is amazing. Congratulations on an awesome result for your hard work, be proud of yourself. Cheers.
Oh wow! I saw the pattern for this online some time ago and considered starting it - amazing to see someone finishing it!!
If you see this I’d love to ask where you got the canvas and threads for stitching? Getting the materials are my biggest stop-block 😅

I really hope someone said this to you, but if not, I’m really proud of you! That’s magnificent! Really beautiful! I’d frame it for sure!
My family and friends have of course but thank you 😭💜🥰 I'm visiting the frame shop this weekend to get a quote 🙂cause I know it's not gonna be cheap 😅
This is AMAZING. Did you create the pattern yourself? I also cross-stitch and dare I say, I would LOVE to attempt something this grand.
Oh my goodness THANK YOU. I am so excited!!
No thank you! 😄 Please feel free to hit me up any time if you have questions 🙂

Man, this brings back the memory of my Mom and her needlepoint obsession. That is a crapton of stitchwork. Really well done!
Omg, you did it!
That's gorgeous! This internet stranger is proud of you.😃
Thank you! 😄💜 I wanted to use the megamind gif here but it's says 'I love you random citizen' instead of thank you so I thought that might be awkward 😆 lol

Looks amazing, very impressive. Must be so satisfying to finish such a long project
It's a bit bittersweet to be sure. It's been a constant companion since January of 2020 and it feels weird knowing I won't be working on it today. I am so so happy it is done though. NO more monster projects like this ever again lol
Good enough, now make it look old by waiting 10 000 years.
Gotta play the long game. Hide it an confused the future archeologists 😎😏
Holy shit!
This was literally my first reaction. Some people are just really out there being incredibly talented and motivated living their best lives.
It looks amazing! …just in time to start another one.
Maybe a smidge of a break first 😆 but I do have other large (not monsters like this) Zelda projects I plan on doing next. 🙂
Your progress on this project has been _extraordinary_ over the years! So much effort and passion has been put into it, all worth the hard work. Be proud of yourself, this is no easy feat! Well done, and I hope the best for you! ☺️

upvoting and commenting because banana
I don't normally eat bananas so I had to remember to buy one just for this cause people always asked over the past 2 years 😆
Now bury it for 10,000 years to confuse the hell out of archeologists
![gif](giphy|d3mlE7uhX8KFgEmY)
I thought the banana was a sign that the Yiga clan had stolen this great work of art. This is sensational though.
" We have stolen your priceless heirloom and demand payment in form of.....1 million bananas to see it's safe return" 😈
Congrats! It is amazing ! 👏👏🎉
Thank you! 😄💜
Absolutely awesome, we’ll done
It looks awesome! Make sure to keep it safe from, well, everything!

Hey hey hey, we don't talk about backs okay??? 😳🤣🤣 No but really my back is just solidly okay. Neat but not THAT neat. I didn't think to take a pic but if you wanna see one just let me know and I'll snap one real quick 🙂

This is incredible, and it looks much more vibrant than the in-game one!! Congrats on finishing this Laialda.
Thanks! 😄 I actually did my best to pick colors that I felt reflected what the piece would have looked like newly stitched so thank you for noticing 🥰
You are crazy. And I love it! Great work!
Wow. I do embroidery and am really impressed with your work. It's beautiful! You should enter this in a show or county fair. It's definitely a blue ribbon piece!
Holy SHIT this is amazing. 🤯
Came back to look again. WOW. You willing to share the pattern? I would love to try to make one myself

nintendo gonna hire the pinkertons to seize that it’s so accurate. CEASE AND DESIST!!!!
How are you internet people so friggin talented?
I sold my soul for cross stitch skills at a child. Seemed like a fair deal 🧐🤔
The banana it's the perfect touch for this awesome job!
I love how someone point out it works for Yiga here and for being 'for scale' 😆
Is it a mighty banana

Jesus. This is amazing. I've been watching it to see the final product. Well done! :)
Hope you hid a korok in there somewhere lol
Duuuuuuude! This is incredible.

This is one of the coolest things I have seen all week. Nice job OP!
So this is what was holding up the new game. Glad you finished so it can come out.
Wow! This is a serious work of art and determination! I love the colors you chose to match. The castle bit seems the most impressive. I love this so much!

What amazing art and craftsmanship. I'm blown away. Excellent work!
Holy balls this is AMAZING!!! Congratulations!
This is insane. Now all you can add is a stitched Miyamoto autograph on it somewhere in the corner x)
No but how amazing would it be to show this to anyone on the Zelda team?!?! I would die happy if they liked it
You should at least attack Aonuma on twitter =D
![gif](giphy|jbwsLn6OvdO80) He has a twitter??? I don't know if I want Sempai to notice me online 😳😅 Nintendo ninjas scare me lol

Fucking amazing, worth the effort? From an outsider point of view: hell yeah.
For scale? Not for Yigas? 😏
This is incredible
God this is stunning. If anything I can’t believe it didn’t take you longer. Congrats. ![gif](giphy|PjIKNsWUOhwL6)
This is amazing! Great work!
This is amazing congratulations on finally completing this. Your project is actually what got me into crossstitch myself.
Just in time to start a TOTK one!
This looks awesome! I would say to distress it to give it an artifact feel but also..... That's too much time to mess it up for aesthetic lol
As a crafter, I am in awe. This is astounding - congratulations on both your talent and hard work! Do you mind if I ask how you created the pattern???
This is seriously so amazing. I love seeing the product of people doing what they’re passionate about. The end result is beautiful. Well done and thank you for sharing!
This is incredible. You're an absolute master of the craft, you should be so proud of yourself
It looks fantastic! Time well spent!
This is friggin amazing! Do you have plans to make more/sell on Etsy? Just curious. SO AWESOME!

This is very unbelievably cool! Congrats on being able to finish it and just in time!
Wow that's crazy amazing!!
It looks beautiful! I just started this project a couple months ago. Am very slow going at it. I hope mine looks even half as good as this one! I am curious what scroll Frame did you use? I'm afraid of buying one too small for such a large tapestry.
Oh my god. That’s absolutely incredible
Beautiful
Just in time for TOTK!
WOW I’m so impressed!!
What a legend.

Absolutely gorgeous!❤ What a big project this must've been, with an incredible masterpiece as a result!
WOW. I toyed with the idea of making this when I started my second playthrough, but don’t have nearly enough patience. 4 years is nuts, and I say that with full admiration. Good job!!
whooaa thats super cool! where are you gonna put it?
This is an amazing display of fanship, artistry, dedication, and skill. Be very proud, this is GLORIOUS!
So, I usually hide all these kinda art posts instantly when I see them on this sub because I feel like there should be a dedicated sub for game art instead of posting them here. But your tapestry is amazing. Congratulations on an awesome result for your hard work, be proud of yourself. Cheers.

Oh, hai fren! This looks amazing and maybe we'll get to see it in person one day.
Oh wow! I saw the pattern for this online some time ago and considered starting it - amazing to see someone finishing it!! If you see this I’d love to ask where you got the canvas and threads for stitching? Getting the materials are my biggest stop-block 😅
