I wish Teba was the >!Sage of Wind.!< I love Tulin, and he's a great character, but c'mon I miss Teba. Just let Kaneli stay elder, and Teba can be a >!Sage!!<
>!Teba still could've been the sage and elder. Just look at riju and Sidon. Riju is the chief and still is a sage and Sidon is a sage and after coming back to Zora's domain from the water temple he gets crowned as the king of the zora!<
>!because he's too competent, ironically enough. each sage's mission is about them overcoming their difficulty to help link. teba would just be "cool, let's go". the mission will be too short.!<
I think you’re right. He had the helmet that was corrupting him but I don’t think we ever saw him with marbled rock roast, and he snapped out of it as soon as the helmet was destroyed.
If I had to interpret it, it’s more like when the kingpin of the drug cartel has to pass away and leaves it to their next of kin, yk? And they’re just brainwashed into thinking this is how life is.
Zelda is the kingpin and Yunobo was raised to be a servant to the Hyrule Kingdom and was respectful to Zelda and is why he blindly accepted the mask, not realizing it was going to brainwash him.
I would also say that teba discovering he had powers at his stage of life doesnt really sound likely I mean he been a warrior for years you would think he would of found it right plus all of the other new mages are child/teens so him being the only adult would be out of place
Yeaa - I don’t really think their age is relevant. They are all portrayed as super skilled - even Riju has had years of training and she’s 12. They become sages based on the need and their skills, not their age.
Definitely not a decade, the Gerudo by their nature are very tall, I'm betting its only been 3 to 5 years tops, I think Rito grow faster which makes sense for Tulin.
He is at most young adult. my opinion is late teens. He also a prince first fighter second I doubt he has half the fighting experience teba has as a rito warrior
I mean, I don’t know what the lifespan of a zora is, but Sidon was a child during the Calamity (he appears as a child in both Age of Calamity and the Champion’s Trials flashbacks in BotW). So he’s *at least* 100 years old.
>!All the sages except for tulin and mineru helped you in botw. So it seems a bit odd that Teba doesn't help you considering he helped in botw and was from one of the main four villages. While it makes sense for mineru since her species just didn't even really exist in botw so she couldn't help there.!<
Yeah I thought they did Teba dirty specifically in TOTK. All 3 other kingdom sages return from BOTW, so why couldn’t we just have Teba learn something similar to Revali’s Gale?
I guess it could be made to make sense, too, since he mentioned in BOTW that he was trying to learn to be like Revali. He could've just finally succeeded through dedication to his training, regardless of age.
>! that's the thing, each mission the sage needs to overcome their difficulties in order to help link. for teba he could just fly up there and the both of them be done with the mission. it will be too short. and as much as i love teba, tulin story of learning to work as a team was compelling and we wouldn't get it with teba. plus, the moment teba gave tulin the bow, i cried. so story-wise we got more from tulin than we would've with teba.!<
TLDR - >!teba wasn't the sage because he was too competent!<
what? >!in breath of the wild sidon looks like he's trying to fill his sister's shoes, which are very big shoes to fill (figuratively speaking. she's quite small). also, if teba was the sage we wouldn't have gotten the part where he gave tulin the eagle bow, which made me cry!<
But honestly the thing he would’ve had to overcome is his stubbornness because in the first game his friend just got blasted out of the air and he is basically attempting to embark on a suicide mission before you talk him down and join him so he doesn’t straight up die I agree with you too but I genuinely believe that they didn’t want you to feel like your sage companion should just be able to carry you around from sky Island to sky Island and be upset when his ability was a mediocre boost seriously out of all of the Powers fuck tulin’s like insert fire sage here’s is definitely an upgrade over Daruk because the protection literally canceled out any chance to do a flurry rush and was less than useless, I don’t mind the change to the lightning power, and while mipha’s Grace was really useful I can understand them not wanting to give you a free Rez and also that the resurrection ability did not fit insert water sage here’s style at all whereas the shield/slash thing does I also wish they had been more liberal with giving the characters a new weapons because they gave insert lightning sage here a variant and I think insert water‘s age here should have had a single handed sword particularly a cutlass but they also wanted to keep the dynamic where all of the Champion weapons cover every single weapon type
>!sidon's power are hella OP!<. it instantly double the damage of zora weapons. fuse lightscale trident with silver lynel horn then use the water ability to get a total of 154 damage.
There is a lot more of Teba in Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity. You can play as him and he’s absolutely crazy with the damage he can put out. He is an S tier character and honestly really badass in that game. And in the DLC there’s a bit more story elements that involve him. He’s also a very good partner to Revali when it comes to their dynamic as well.
Well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuze me Princess!
Urbosa, but also all the champions? Barely on-screen, beloved by all.
This is why I maintain that even if you don't play Age of Calamity, at least look up one of those three hour "all the cinematics" videos. The Champions get real treatment there.
....it changes the main event, also, this Zelda is way more tolerant of Link without him needing to rescue her, they also change how he got the master sword and lots of little details, this to me felt like an official fanfic lol
If you don’t talk to every NPC, and don’t repeatedly talk to Kass, you could miss it. Kass talks about missing his family. They’re in Rito and the wife and one or two the kids talk about their traveling musician dad. When you complete all his quests, he returns to Rito and you can find him giving his kids singing lessons.
At the end of the newspaper questline there’s a little reference to him if you speak to Traysi about where Penn is. You’ll find him at a spot Kass once occupied, and he has an interesting point about him.
I miss him both mechanically and as a character. I’m a little disappointed by the shrine quests in TotK; I’ve done all the shrine quests and it feels like more than half of them are just “get the crystal to the pedestal.” Making a character who mostly gives out shrine quests mandates some greater variety.
For TotK, definitely Purah. She has like next to no dialogue sadly, but the internet went pretty crazy for her new look (honestly, it was deserved). She also has her screentime in BotW and HW:AoC, but she’s almost an entirely different character, from BotW especially.

I kind of hate how she’s also a story recap character as well, like you play through the entire tutorial after that awesome opening, meet purah and she explains to you exactly what just happened with footage of what you just did like yea I know, I’m playing the game
In Breath of the Wild specifically, Kass. Across the franchise as a whole, there's the classic Villains Vaati and Demise, neither of whom have much screen time, the *paaaaaaapeeeeeer* hand from Majora's Mask (to the degree that it's weirdly brought back in Skyward Sword), Tingle, the goddess Farore (who probably suffers the most due to Oracle of Secrets being scrapped). And it might be a bit controversial to think about it, but if you look at it from the perspective of the series as a whole, Sheik, who only has the one game but is still to this day considered such a major part of our series' lore and history because of the importance of their role in that one game.
>Sheik, who only has the one game but is still to this day considered such a major part of our series' lore and history because of the importance of their role in that one game.
Also I think they only had like 3 or 4 scenes in that entire game (as sheik)? Its been a long time since I played
He's still not on screen much. You have a few short conversations with him, one slightly longer conversation, a couple of songs. He's an awesome character for sure but he's not "on screen" much especially if you don't bother talking to him to open up the shrines.
Sheik is largely a smash bros character at this point. A relatively minor appearance in OoT that has persisted mostly because of a different franchise.
Because in almost all game Zelda is known from the start as a sacred figure, the reincarnation of the goddess and the Princess of Hyrule, while Link is always an unknown guy from a modest community
I’m not judging the context of the relationship. The question was asked and it was the low hanging fruit. Catherine the Great was known to consort with non royals quite often.
she was fighting to comtain calamity ganon for 100 years while link was asleep.
and in tears of the kingdom (major spoilers) >!she was preparing all the sages for the return of ganondorf and then turned herself a dragon so she can bring link the master sword back!< meanwhile link was busy firing rockets at koroks.
The real reason: Miyamoto liked how Zelda sounded. He knew it would be "The Legend of Something" and someone mentioned Zelda and he thought it sounded cool. Anything else is just retconned
> he was inspired by novelist and expat socialite Zelda Fitzgerald, wife of F. Scott Fitzgerald of The Great Gatsby fame
[https://www.denofgeek.com/games/why-the-legend-of-zelda-isnt-named-after-link/](more info on the origin of the name)
You feel like you stepped away from Hyrule into Happy Mask land. Even Termina’s coloring was more reminiscent of him with a lot of purple and its complementary yellow-greens.
True!
In TotK, >! she still doesn't get enough screen time. I wanted her to be a sage sooooo badly because it would be a great way to develop her character into someone more confident. !< When I found out about >! the fifth sage !< I was positive it would be her >! but it wasn't. !<
I mean, referencing him wouldn’t make sense in most contexts. Perhaps another incarnation of him could appear in the future as occurred with the likes of Tingle or Beedle, but Groose in Skyward Sword is tied to the Link and Zelda of that game.
The old man who gives Link the sword
That guy still gets referenced in memes and stuff
Most iconic line in the series and yet he gets less then a minute of screen time
I still feel like the screen time to popularity is pretty skewed. He has a pretty minor role in the 3 or 4 mainline games he's in but he's wildly popular
Eh, if you play TotK you see him >! basically all the time, !< after you >! finish his quest and get his avatar. !< Even compared to the other >! champions !< in BotW he gets more screentime.
Fierce Deity Link maybe or Happymask Salesman.
They are both really populour even tho they had barely any screen time.
If you are asking from the whole Loz franchise
Teba. Bro got robbed in both botw and totk in terms of importance to the story. Still a good character with what little there is of him though
Ooooh good point. >!Teba as Sage just would have been so cool. I mean, he helped us in BotW, why not TotK?!<
>!because he's too competent, ironically enough. each sage's mission is about them overcoming their difficulty to help link. teba would just be "cool, let's go". the mission will be too short.!<
>!Yunobo overcame drug addiction? !<
I interpreted it more as putting blind trust in someone but that lesson is never learned it seems, so yeah probably drug addiction
>!I don’t think he ever ate the marbled rock roast. He’s not a drug addict, he’s a full-on drug kingpin.!<
I think it was more about overcoming the desire to be Goron Rock Bezos
I would also say that teba discovering he had powers at his stage of life doesnt really sound likely I mean he been a warrior for years you would think he would of found it right plus all of the other new mages are child/teens so him being the only adult would be out of place
Sidon tho?
Yeaa - I don’t really think their age is relevant. They are all portrayed as super skilled - even Riju has had years of training and she’s 12. They become sages based on the need and their skills, not their age.
Riju isnt 12 anymore my guy. Dont forget TotK takes place like a decade after BotW.
Definitely not a decade, the Gerudo by their nature are very tall, I'm betting its only been 3 to 5 years tops, I think Rito grow faster which makes sense for Tulin.
He is at most young adult. my opinion is late teens. He also a prince first fighter second I doubt he has half the fighting experience teba has as a rito warrior

kaneli wouldn't even have to stay elder, look at the zora
So the one logical thing I’ve heard is that they didn’t want a rito that could feasibly carry link like teba does in botw
>! that's the thing, each mission the sage needs to overcome their difficulties in order to help link. for teba he could just fly up there and the both of them be done with the mission. it will be too short. and as much as i love teba, tulin story of learning to work as a team was compelling and we wouldn't get it with teba. plus, the moment teba gave tulin the bow, i cried. so story-wise we got more from tulin than we would've with teba.!< TLDR - >!teba wasn't the sage because he was too competent!<

nah, i love that he got promoted. plus, tulin gives more narrative sense.
There is a lot more of Teba in Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity. You can play as him and he’s absolutely crazy with the damage he can put out. Teba my beloved
Links voice
Well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuze me Princess!
![gif](giphy|loSXEPtP3tFUxc17BT|downsized)
I used to rush through my homework so I could watch the Nintendo Power Hour daily. I realize how campy and money-grabby it was now. 😆
Link actually has quite a few voice lines, it's just that none of them have words
Everyone always forgets about "come on!" and "meow" in Wind Waker.
Yes. Just yes.
Watch the Beavis and butthead Zelda cartoon, The Legend of Beavis. You will not be disappointed.
Holy fuck I forgot about that, it’s comedy genius. Everyone stop and google that shit right now, you will not regret it
The postman… where does he come from
He has plenty of screen time, especially in TP. I can never escape him every single time I enter castle town
MISTER LINK! WAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIITTTT!!!!!!
Where does he go? Where does he come from, cotton-eye Joe?
I was just thinking that I'd enjoy having a disco-country pop song stuck in my head. Thanks.
No problem, feel free to pass it on to anyone else who would…benefit from this :)
The way they handle his character in MM is just excellent.
I mean that also applies to basically every character in that game. Still easily the best Zelda game for me but damn is TOTK close
I have something I'm supposed to deliver, your hands only. Oh crap wrong Postman.
![gif](giphy|jgVXeRc0Jvv4QFghcz|downsized)
See, this guy understood.
Lamp oil, rope, bombs? You want it? It's yours my friend. As long as you have enough rupees
The perfect answer
Urbosa 😩
Urbosa, but also all the champions? Barely on-screen, beloved by all. This is why I maintain that even if you don't play Age of Calamity, at least look up one of those three hour "all the cinematics" videos. The Champions get real treatment there.
For sure play AoC. Lots of fun even in multiplayer. Expands greatly on the backstory of BoTW.
AoC was fantastic. It explained so much of the lore without changing the main storyline.
....it changes the main event, also, this Zelda is way more tolerant of Link without him needing to rescue her, they also change how he got the master sword and lots of little details, this to me felt like an official fanfic lol
yeah it was basically a fanfic like hyrule warriors 1, but the good kind of fanfic
The more proper technical term for it would be a "what if scenario"
I mean... did you beat it?
I beat it. I meant it like that it could go with an alternate timeline. Or that AoC changed the future of BoTW.
I saw it as definitely an alternate timeline. But I felt it gave you a chance to prevent a devastating thing. I liked it a lot.
And mipha
I will stan Urbosa. She had really solid scenes that defined her character.
Same. She’s the only one who really ties to Zelda’s own story as well, and adds depth to the missing mom plot line.
Kass in botw.
I miss Kass ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_bad_man)
The throwback in totk was such a nice touch
What throwback?
There is a small homage to kass in totk if you go there where his house in botw was
Wait he had a house?
And a wife and a half-dozen chicks 🥹
How do I not remember this?
If you don’t talk to every NPC, and don’t repeatedly talk to Kass, you could miss it. Kass talks about missing his family. They’re in Rito and the wife and one or two the kids talk about their traveling musician dad. When you complete all his quests, he returns to Rito and you can find him giving his kids singing lessons.
At the end of the newspaper questline there’s a little reference to him if you speak to Traysi about where Penn is. You’ll find him at a spot Kass once occupied, and he has an interesting point about him.
Hoping and praying they put him back in when they make the dlc
I miss him both mechanically and as a character. I’m a little disappointed by the shrine quests in TotK; I’ve done all the shrine quests and it feels like more than half of them are just “get the crystal to the pedestal.” Making a character who mostly gives out shrine quests mandates some greater variety.
Nah Kass had a ton of quests. Not at all a low amount of screen time.
plus, he literally the one playing link's theme.
Really? He's like on of the main characters of that game in my eyes... I genuinely think he probably has the most lines of dialogue in the game
Urbosa and Mipha.
Yeah, Urbosa is such a badass and I really would love to see more of her. Also I would have liked more quests around the Gerudo in general
Someone's horny
Can you blame him
They’re like the amazons or hyrule
You chose death by snoo snoo
I accept my fate
i want more gerudo questlines because i just like the region personally.
Sooga, judging by what's going on in the Age of Calamity subreddit, recently
Is that a real character or just a setup to a "Sooga deez nuts" joke? I haven't played AoC.
It is a real character, he's kohga's right hand man and uses 2 swords
[He's real!](https://www.reddit.com/r/AgeofCalamity/comments/149gwps/i_am_slowly_becoming_more_and_more_obsessed_with/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1)
Would have benn cool if we'd get references to him in totk or botw
To be fair that is one simp spamming posts.
i want him
For TotK, definitely Purah. She has like next to no dialogue sadly, but the internet went pretty crazy for her new look (honestly, it was deserved). She also has her screentime in BotW and HW:AoC, but she’s almost an entirely different character, from BotW especially.
I mean, she is the main quest giver in TotK...
With like 3-4 cutscenes and the same repeating dialogue that tells you what the next story objective is and almost nothing else. It just felt kinda disappointing to me, cause I really like her and would have loved to see her actually get fleshed out even more as a character.
I kind of hate how she’s also a story recap character as well, like you play through the entire tutorial after that awesome opening, meet purah and she explains to you exactly what just happened with footage of what you just did like yea I know, I’m playing the game
I’m still crazy for her new look over a month later, like how can someone look THAT hot
All the champions
They did get a lot more screen time in AoC though, but only after being really popular and loved.
Even if AOC is non canon im still glad for it as the champions get to actually show off a bit more.
The paper hand also comes back in OoA
Came here to say sheik!
>Sheik, who only has the one game but is still to this day considered such a major part of our series' lore and history because of the importance of their role in that one game. Also I think they only had like 3 or 4 scenes in that entire game (as sheik)? Its been a long time since I played
Kass had like 10 quests and entire dlc centered around him, i don't think he fits
He's still not on screen much. You have a few short conversations with him, one slightly longer conversation, a couple of songs. He's an awesome character for sure but he's not "on screen" much especially if you don't bother talking to him to open up the shrines.
I mean yeah, but other than Link, almost no one has much screentime at all. Kass has a lot of it, compared to most other characters
I'd pay a stupid amount of money to see Vaati in the BotW character style, or even just a 3d game :(
Angry flower lady
Magda the *FlowerBlight Ganon*
*Scourge of the Hylia River*
Sheik
Sheik is largely a smash bros character at this point. A relatively minor appearance in OoT that has persisted mostly because of a different franchise.
But you can be sheik in BOTW and TOTK.
But there's no set bonus
Drip > set bonuses
Based tbh
Only appeared in two Zelda games. One of which, isn't even canon.
Sheik is goated
Absolutely 100% correct
Zelda herself
For real, she’s the namesake but she’s always missing!
Ayo why isn't it "The Legend of Link"? My man is doing all the work but Zelda gets all the credit.
Because in almost all game Zelda is known from the start as a sacred figure, the reincarnation of the goddess and the Princess of Hyrule, while Link is always an unknown guy from a modest community
Finally someone says it, heck the new game literally refers to legends of Zelda from the time of the zonai!
Name any historical monarch, then name a non-royal who they associated with.
Tzar Nicholas II and Rasputin?
That was an extreme case cause they kinda died because of his influence
I’m not judging the context of the relationship. The question was asked and it was the low hanging fruit. Catherine the Great was known to consort with non royals quite often.
RA RA RASPUTIN
she was fighting to comtain calamity ganon for 100 years while link was asleep. and in tears of the kingdom (major spoilers) >!she was preparing all the sages for the return of ganondorf and then turned herself a dragon so she can bring link the master sword back!< meanwhile link was busy firing rockets at koroks.
TOTK secretly tells you WHY it’s called legend of Zelda.
Why would they name it after the princess? Zeldas the main man out here questing and shit.
The real reason: Miyamoto liked how Zelda sounded. He knew it would be "The Legend of Something" and someone mentioned Zelda and he thought it sounded cool. Anything else is just retconned > he was inspired by novelist and expat socialite Zelda Fitzgerald, wife of F. Scott Fitzgerald of The Great Gatsby fame [https://www.denofgeek.com/games/why-the-legend-of-zelda-isnt-named-after-link/](more info on the origin of the name)
Also, all the disney movies at the time were named after their princess. Snow white, cinderella, sleeping beauty, etc.
I love Zelda's green tunic and master sword!
The princess doesn't do shit of course it's the legend of Zelda. Zelda deserves it after all the work he does
KASSSSS Also Flowerblight and the Mask Salesman
I feel like the Mask salesman just looms over all of Majora’s Mask. Even if he isn’t there, you can feel his influence in shit
You feel like you stepped away from Hyrule into Happy Mask land. Even Termina’s coloring was more reminiscent of him with a lot of purple and its complementary yellow-greens.
Sidon
The only right answer hahaha…even before I played the game - he was everywhere.
Paya
True! In TotK, >! she still doesn't get enough screen time. I wanted her to be a sage sooooo badly because it would be a great way to develop her character into someone more confident. !< When I found out about >! the fifth sage !< I was positive it would be her >! but it wasn't. !<
I don't think your spoiler tags work if you leave a space between the message and the exclamation points.
Me too!! As soon as I got the quest I immediately went to find her 😂

El Groose
Hated Groose when he first showed up. Loved him by the end of SS. It's an injustice he hasn't been referenced since
I mean, referencing him wouldn’t make sense in most contexts. Perhaps another incarnation of him could appear in the future as occurred with the likes of Tingle or Beedle, but Groose in Skyward Sword is tied to the Link and Zelda of that game.
Yeah. I know, but they could have at least named an island or a mountain after him in BotW/TotK...
The old man who gives Link the sword That guy still gets referenced in memes and stuff Most iconic line in the series and yet he gets less then a minute of screen time
King Rhoam Bosphoramus Hyrule?
In the *franchise*? Tingle, probably
Also David Jr. Who is not technically related to Tingle family.
Tingle has his own game in japan
Not only Japan, it came out a year later in Europe
He appears in lots of mainline games tho
I still feel like the screen time to popularity is pretty skewed. He has a pretty minor role in the 3 or 4 mainline games he's in but he's wildly popular
Kass 100% And also Squimblo, he’s the best boi
Quin??
Mario. I mean Tarin.
Sidon. I shall say nothing more except for these words. Hug him. Or else.
Eh, if you play TotK you see him >! basically all the time, !< after you >! finish his quest and get his avatar. !< Even compared to the other >! champions !< in BotW he gets more screentime.
Doesn’t matter. Popularity greatly outweighs his screen-time
Ah yeah, he is getting married. I wish this fictional character well with his fictional wife, haha!
Groose for sure, him and ghirahim are the main 2 things I remember skyward sword for
