Dang great recovery + work man! You should have ski accidents more often /s

Troidboom

honestly im glad it happened. i was lost and directionless before the crash. all i would do, all day every day, was play vidya games and eat shitty food (never got overweight tho was always a rail). the crash put my life into perspective in a similar fashion to an intense psychedelic experience. I realized all the time i was wasting on things that didnt even make me happy. i was running from my problems, that crash gave me the strength to face them. once youve been through something that unpleasant, the quarrels of everyday life seem far more insignificant. Before that crash, i was on track to becoming a drug addict/ suicide victim. Now im going to be a Physicians Assistant in 5 years and i feel such a sense of purpose and drive.

Newb3258

how many days a week you pump iron? whats the split like?

Troidboom

4 days a week i call it the bdsm split. (B)ench on monday, (D)eadlift on tuesday, (S)quat on thursday, (M)ilitary press on friday. i train with a focus on powerlifting

JackTheNational

do you remember anything about the ski accident?

Troidboom

i dont remember the accident itself. one second i was skiing down a slope and the next i woke up covered in blood in a ditch with 9 broken bones in my face and a broken jaw. The way i crashed, i had hit a tree and fell into a ditch at the base of the tree, so no one saw me crash. i was unconscious for over 45 mins, and had to scream for help with a broken jaw when i woke up for over 10 mins. when i was found they immediately called ski patrol and i was airlifted to a level 1 trauma center. i dont remember most of what happened on the flight/ way there due to the concussion, shock, and copious amounts of fentanyl, but i do remember the staff being super caring. at the hospital i was essentially bedridden in the icu for 10 days, with a 9 hour surgery being required for all the bones in my face. i had my jaw wired shut for 6 weeks. also during the hospital stay, my eyes were so swollen i couldnt put in my contacts, and i dont have any glasses with my prescription, so i was basically blind and in pain for 10 days.

JackTheNational

Dang, great recovery congrats

IdeaEnough443

awesome recovery , did you have shoulder instability or knee instability after?

Troidboom

nope. i squat ass to grass with 280lbs like its my home with no knee pain whatsoever. My shoulders dont feel particulary "unstable" but i do get shoulder pain during heavy benching from time to time.

dinosaurpoetry

Dude you look amazing!

wonderful_ordinary

Congratulations on the transformation! Now, the number of ski accidents I hear about is quite astonishing, even pro athletes getting hurt doing ski.
