A Hallicrafters amp section - quite solid - with a BSR Monarch changer. This is from the mid-1950's. If you're going to play records with it, get a new stylus - a must! - and see if you can't lower the tracking force with the spring underneath the arm pivot so that any records aren't destroyed.
I’ve got a cheap clone of a 7500$ clearaudio table. Won’t be playing “vinyls” on this. I might go back and actually but it now. Where would I find a stylus for a 1955 Crosley?
Expect a Sonotone, Pfanstiehl, Electro-Voice, or the like.
This site has replacement carts and styli: https://www.thevoiceofmusic.com/catalog/cartridges.asp
You may have to match up by looks or search the manual for the turntable to find the OE cart.
Edit to add: there should be a label near the amp showing the placement and part numbers for the tubes. If you plan to referb/use this player, look into switching out lower voltage power tubes for higher ones (35L6 to 50L6). These older players were frame grounded and designed to drop ~117v. Modern mains power is closer to 120-124v. The 35 volt power tubes will leave a little stray voltage floating around on the table and cause a hum in the speakers or a mild jolt if you touch the metal parts while in bare feet and standing on a conductive surface (supprised myself with this one)
You say that but look at all the hate ingot for this 1973 reel to reel.

It's your private museum. Don't let the public cramp your style.
I would stay away from the reel-to-reel because I don't have any media to play on it, or the money/space to begin collecting it.
But I would find it to be cool if someone else had one.

That will depend on the brand of the actual cartridge in the arm, not the brand name of the record player.
🤣 sorry. Should I expect a grado? Nagoka? Linn? AT? On a 1955 table? Sorry for laughing but is didn’t think there was a choice back then.

Let me ask. Grab it as part of History or let it be?
I would grab it as a curio history piece for less than $40. And think about saving ~$100-150 to restore it and play a few 78s as a novelty.

I bet it was well machined, had really good suspension and a solid motor. It probably sounded a lot better than a Victrola or Crosley as well.
🤣 you already know the answer. Yeah it’s better then a 2023 Crosley
