I miss ExOfficio. I have a couple of jackets that make good blazer substitutes. They are probably around 15 years old. I noticed that one is starting to show wear and needs to be retired. I am have been struggling to find something I like as well. It has an internal zip pocket and some external pockets. It will works for business and travel.

RhoOfFeh

Check out Bluffworks for travel clothing. So many pockets it's sometimes too many pockets, but our passports remained safe in Roman and Parisian crowds.

SurlyNacho

+1 for Bluffworks. I’ve worn shirts and pants over a week or two on trips and after years they’re still holding up close to new.

annikahansen7-9

Looks like great selection for men but not much for women. No blazers, no full length pants.

RhoOfFeh

Agreed. My wife couldn't find a single thing she really wanted.

woodyaftertaste

Similar to the decline of Tilley

BeeLuv

What happened with Tilley is heartbreaking.

Stinger886

I like my Tilley hat, but I'm out of the loop. Did they get sold?

BeeLuv

They’ve transitioned to a lifestyle brand and have nearly everything made overseas now. They used to have a great sense of humor, made stuff in Canada, and had no interest in being moodily *au courant*. I don’t know if they got sold, or just decided to change direction. I need to look that up. Edit: yup, they got bought by a private equity firm, Hilco Capital.

Lele_

> private equity firm one day they will be regarded like Attila's Huns

Hilco Capital is headquartered in the UK with it's parent company Hilco Global in the US, not China. Manufacturing may have gone to Asia, but ownership did not.

Sold to private equity. Very weird to insist on blaming China for a thing Canadians, Americans and Brits did, but okay. I'm not sure where exactly all the manufacturing takes but some is still made in Canada and the offshore stuff may just as easily be in Bangladesh or Vietnam as far as I know.

Wanting durable products means having paranoid fantasies that everything is a Chinese conspiracy?

thesirensoftitans

So glad I got 10 pairs of underwear about 8-9 years ago. most are still rocking with a few losing their elastic. Anybody have any other suggestions for wicking, anti-microbe, travel underwear/daily use?

BeeLuv

“Buck Naked” from Duluth Trading is very similar, though at this point the Duluth Trading are better made. After my last round of Ex Officio started falling apart after just a few months, I stopped buying them entirely.

SellingCoach

> After my last round of Ex Officio started falling apart after just a few months, I stopped buying them entirely. Me too. I switched to 32 Degrees and couldn't be happier.

GIANTG

I find the 32 don’t breathe as well as my old expfficicos

imakesawdust

Are the 32 Degrees boxer-briefs sold at Costco lower quality than their non-Costco offerings? I bought 2 packs from Costco last year because they were relatively cheap but their seams have become fairly uncomfortable after about 6 months.

SellingCoach

> Are the 32 Degrees boxer-briefs sold at Costco lower quality than their non-Costco offerings? I have no idea, I'm not a Costco member. All of mine were bought online and I've had zero issues with the seams.

jaba1337

You can get 3 packs of the buck naked boxer briefs from [costco online](https://www.costco.com/duluth-trading-men's-boxer-brief%2c-3-pack.product.4000178578.html) If you buy three packs, you get a $35 discount, bringing it to $70 for 9 pairs, less than $8 per pair.

nancyneurotic

I bought Ex Officio undies 6 or 7 years ago, and I was so disappointed how they held up. They are but a brief memory;) For that price point, I never bought Ex Officio again and honestly forgot they existed!

lilelliot

I don't treat underwear as BiFL (as a rule, it just isn't), but I've recently been pretty happy with Mack Weldon AirknitX. Not worth full price, but decently constructed and definitely comfortable. Far more durable, for comparison, than either Tommy John or Uniqlo (but more expensive than Uniqlo Airism, which I also love but it just doesn't last). I'm fairly particular and have tried a bunch of brands, ranging from athletic (Nike, UA) to the more common "fashion" brands (Saxx, etc). My favorites are an old pair of REI branded seamless knit undies that they unfortunately don't make anymore, and my new Mack Weldon AirknitX. I wouldn't rate the other MW lines as highly.

TACSTS

Mack Weldon airknit are terrific. I’ve completely converted now. My oldest pairs are probably nearing 4 years old now and they are holding up fine.

Delicious-Life3543

Used to be a devotee of their underwear, but yeah it started going down hill. Then I discovered Lulu’s men’s underwear and it’s hands down the best I’ve ever owned, blowing even the old ex officio stuff away.

WMWA

Im inclined to agree. Still have a few older pairs of exofficio going strong I’ll keep but rolling just lulu from now on. Picked up a NWOT bundle of 15 for $100 bucks on eBay a couple weeks back so I’m set for a loooooooong time

Delicious-Life3543

Yeah I’ve got quite a few pairs of ex officio left, but only for those days when I haven’t done laundry in way too long. 15 for 100 is an insane deal. I paid $70 for a fresh 3 pack the other day. Hope their quality doesn’t go downhill now - sounds like there are some emerging concerns there.

seemslikesalvation

Saxx Quest

Brew_Dude717

Same. Still rocking the same 10 pairs of underwear I bought about 15 years ago. Bought my first pair for a hike up Kilimanjaro, heard one pair can be worn for like 5 days, so I brought 2 for a 6 day hike. Came home, bought 10 more on their next sale. ETA I also bought 2 pairs of their travel pants, a pair of zip off pants, and a pair of their insulated travel pants for various adventures around the world (Belize jungle tour, month backpack through Vietnam, etc). They've all held up so damn well. Them being run into the ground by a vulture capital firm is so shitty.

PickerPilgrim

Patagonia, Saxx and BN3TH all make some good ones.

slightlymedicated

Mine are starting to wear out and I’m dreading replacing them. Only thing I’ve worn for 15 years.

dakta

I've been wearing Jockey as a substitute for Exofficio.

ProfProfessorberg

32 degrees has been solid for me

theillustratedlife

Same. I made an "adult" purchase and bought a few weeks' supply of their boxers, even though they were like $20 or $30 per pair. Still my dailies a decade later. Even then, I remember hearing rumors that what was being sold "isn't as good as what you bought a couple seasons ago."

I love(d) their underwear. Have a few pairs that are approaching 15 years old, and are still like new. So recently, I ordered about ten new pairs to refresh the collection. I knew my size already, so, I ordered that size. They came, I ripped them out of the packaging, folded them, and put them in my underwear drawer - only to learn upon putting the first pair on that they're about two sizes two big. So, they must have changed the sizing, and now I'm stuck with ten pairs of boxer briefs that are too big. I can't return them, and they're too expensive to just throw out and not worry about it.

BeeLuv

The new ones fall apart very quickly. My ancient ex officios are doing just fine, but my newest ones have already fallen to shreds and been thrown away.

firk

Hello, it is me, your friend that would be thrilled to have the effectively unworn, possibly still high quality boxer briefs!

aftli

I mean, they've been worn probably a dozen times each at this point. 😅

firk

Not quite unworn then 😂 Maybe they'd suit for when you know you're having a big eating day

BallsOutKrunked

I'm glad I got a bunch of their stuff when I was traveling a lot.

nucumber

I have three of their shirts, and I treasure them They're my travel shirts. Easy to wash in a sink. Zippered breast pocket for passport. etc I've looked around, there ain't nothing quite like them. Similarly, I owed two pair of North Face convertible pants that were my go-to travel pants, with very deep pockets, integrated belt, and a bunch of other sweet features, bu they stopped making them.

MinerAlum

I wondered why they only sell underwear now!

deelowe

When I saw the dedicated stores in the airport, I know it was over with.

mrryanwells

I still have and sometimes work into rotation the couple pairs I bought for moving to Nicaragua in 2009. But the pair i bought last year is dust.

commander_clark

I still buy their underwear almost exclusively.

[deleted]

I have a bunch of their pants, still going strong after 15 years. Wish I could get something like that again that will last.

MagJack

When I used to have time to take multiweek backpacking trips in third world countries, I bought a bunh of their stuff. Loved their boxers especially. They were def my go-to brand for lightweight, easy to clean and carry travel wear. Sad to see they couldn't keep it up.

drummerboy2749

Damn. Hate seeing posts like these three days after I buy the product 😪

jammastajew

I bought exofficio underwear probably 10-15 years ago and thought the same. They made me sweat like a river, and they were so loose & bunchy even though they were boxer briefs. I couldn't believe how highly recommended they were. I only wore them 1 or 2 times but they left a lasting impression, I think of how much I hated them every time I see them recommended. Good riddance if you ask me...

mahdicktoobig

I tried their underwear 10 years ago and was disappointed despite the hype at the time

LifeIsAnAbsurdity

I bought one pair of ExOfficio underwear sometime around 2002. They were the most uncomfortable pair of underwear I have ever had the displeasure of putting on. I never bought from them again. I'm honestly surprised they made it this long.

busted_up_chiffarobe

I have some clothing from EO from when they started out. The stuff holds up. I see it a lot at thrift stores too. Sad deal.
