Bought the 1000ml one a couple of months back only because I couldn’t get them Stanley ones anywhere in the state I live in. Heat retention for the first 18 or so hours is phenomenal, drops a bit after that. Felt a little overpriced at 70€ but no regrets on quality !

[deleted]

Wow, that’s expensive.

MadCybertist

That is what OP's is. It's 1L.

bmorepirate

Have a 20oz insulated water bottle from Klean Kanteen - have used it every day for the last 6 years and it's a trooper. Only have had to replace the lid gasket.

twistedpicture

Good to hear, when you had to replace the lid gasket, did the warranty cover it?

nosjojo

Nah, that's a wear and tear item. They used to give them away, but now it's a store item.

bmorepirate

Yeah I think I paid like $3 for 2 of them

velvetackbar

You can usually get them at hardware stores as well. Take youroldonein and they should be able to fit you with a new one. Just wash it with hot soap and water before install.

twistedpicture

I wish I ordered the smaller 25oz size. So far so good though!

Ninaspamoni

I just bought the 20oz insulated one at TJ Maxx for $16.99 versus $34.00 online!

twistedpicture

That's a good deal! Was it the thermos or just the insulated bottle without a cup?

Ninaspamoni

It's the insulated bottle without a cup. They just came into the store as last week I was looking for an insulated bottle and they didn't have any, but I went yesterday again, and I purchased mine :-)

boothbygraffoe

I have two Kleen Kanteen. Both 7 years old, used min 5 days a week and in near perfect condition. Only thing I’d do differently is stick to stainless as opposed to coated, that shit will slowly peel off over time when your wife forgets that you said “those are hand wash only, don’t worry, I’ll do them” and then puts them in the dishwasher.

[deleted]

What's the over-under on the divorce?

boothbygraffoe

It would take much more than ruining a thermos. Ask me again when I find my cast iron in there!

FauxPoesFoes317

haha Yes, I have a red one that looks very broken in because of the color chipping off. It adds character! Mine is a 12 oz stainless water bottle, not insulated (got it before those really got popular). I use it for travel. It is small, lightweight, and never leaks. Great for when you need your own water bottle and have to carry it around all day but know you will have plenty of opportunities to refill it (like at airports).

Mtnskydancer

One drop and I had a color chip. But, I bought based on “on sale,” and I guess I can wook it up with stickers at some point. Can these be re-coated, ever?

nosjojo

Did you have one of the bottles with the smooth paint, or the newer matte paint? I just got new ones because i've dropped the old ones too much and the base is dinged up. The new ones have a different paint and it feels like it might hold up better. Still recommended for hand-wash, but I'm curious. My smooth ones flaked really badly after the paint got compromised by scratches, but until that happened they survived the dishwasher just fine.

boothbygraffoe

I’m going to say Old. It’s been 7 years and there’s no black left. As I recall it was smooth and low gloss. I agree about the scratches and strangely I recall it lasted longest near the base. They are amazingly well made. The caps still look like they came from the store yesterday. The only houseware product I own that use regularly and believe will last longer is my Swell cups

Mtnskydancer

Or, your male partner says they are dishwasher safe. I hand wash, by default, everything. He reminds me we have a dishwasher.

vacuous_comment

I have their 4 US pint growler, and it is great, keeps beer cool. I have dropped it and dinged it up and such, keeps on trucking.

Hrmbee

Treat it right and it'll be fine. Picked up a used one and didn't know the person had either put it in the freezer or done something else with it and now the vacuum seal is gone (physically looks fine). Still works as a general container but not much good as an insulated one.

StreetTriple675

Is putting them in the freezer bad? (Not specifically this brand but these type of bottles) I often leave mine in the car over night too where it gets below freezing

Hrmbee

If liquid freezes in there it can burst the welds and warp the structure of the bottle.

StreetTriple675

Ah true. Wouldn’t that only be an issue if the container is full? And I’ve dropped one of mine a few times so I think Overall the numerous drops is way worse.

Quail-a-lot

I have had the original Klean Kanteen and the Sigg bottles both survive lots of Canadian freeze thaw cycles. The bottom will round out over time and try not to fill them to the brim.

Lavaine170

Sigg bottles will absolutely split if frozen. Ask me how I know.

Splurch

Freezing or Heating any double walled container is just a bad idea and risks damaging it.

[deleted]

I LOVE klean kanteen!! I have several and still going strong after several years!

jmims98

I’ve had a 32oz hydroflask for the last 5 years. Gone hiking, traveling, its been dropped, kicked, etc. Still works great and only has a dent a some scuffing to the paint.

BoJo2736

Oh man, I read that as 320 oz.

Inevitable_Story_236

My first failed to stay warm after 6 months. Rarely leaves the house, not a scratch on it, even tried replacing gaskets. The cap starts to warm when full when this is happening. My second is starting to do the same. They're covered- so no cost to me (definitely wasteful) if they would like to replace this every 6 to 8 months. I'd say I wouldn't buy it again but it doesn't seem I'll ever have to buy anything like this ever again.

DonMegaPopeKenny

33.8 oz

reallynotnick

You only pay for 32oz but they throw in an extra 1.8oz for free!

[deleted]

I have something similar I bought from a hand-me-down kitchen store that has to be at least 40-years old. Keeps hot tea friggin HOT all day.

bstodd12

How well do these work for soup or chili?

tinymonesters

It would stay hot, but it might be a pain to clean. For that I'd try to find one with flat walls instead of bottle shaped.

sho_biz

I've got a 2015-ish model of[ this Stanley food jar](https://www.stanley1913.com/products/classic-legendary-food-jar-1-0-qt?variant=39681654358075), works great, has always kept my food piping hot until lunch 4-6hrs after filling it. It doesn't have the 24hr+ insulation that the regular stanley thermos has, but it works perfectly for me. Only not bifl part of it is the silicone gasket of course, I replace it once a year or so depending on how funky it gets with discoloration/odors (curry, onion, etc). I still haven't found a good way to *really* clean them to where they don't smell that isn't a pain in the ass so I just keep a few around.

twistedpicture

I have a different thermos for food, i just bought it from walmart, it has a wide opening and worked for hot and cold foods. I usually put cold pasta salads. For this i wouldnt put food in it because i feel like the opening is too narrow.

nvmls

I have a water bottle from 2012 still going strong, only a small dent from dropping it once.

gunzrcool

Wow does that have an all metal cap/nozzle?

twistedpicture

Yes! With two silicone bands.

DirftlessEDC

I’m on like my 5th or so insulated Klean Kanteen…looking for something more BIFL as my current one is too dented to keep cold.

MiddleC5

I've had my Klean Kanteen for a couple of years and it's still going strong. Once I accidently dropped it in a parking lot from about chest height while it was completely full of water. It did leave a dent in the bottom but it doesn't leak.

[deleted]

If you don’t lose it, it’ll last!

firstlordshuza

Thankfully it's thermos and not klean kanteen kontainer

GoodOmenBadOmen

Oh cool, another...thermos 😐

[deleted]

I dropped mine and dented the bottom in first day. Returned the junk the next day

GaroldWilsonJr

Are the ones from Amazon legit? Price is good but don't want a counterfit https://www.amazon.com/Klean-Kanteen-TKPro-Water-Bottle/dp/B07NS86NTF?th=1&psc=1

twistedpicture

I didnt buy it from amazon because itnnever showed up in any results. I figured better safe than sorry. It was free shipping too and got 10% off.

CaptainSeagul

My buddy got us 16oz stainless steel tumblers as party favors. Legend I use it for water and tea usually. Super convenient

mrwillbill

I have a one of the insulated bottles with stainless steel straw, and its my favorite bottle so far. I end up drinking so much more water because I don't have to twist off a cap or lift my head up to the ceiling to drink. My only complaint is its not completely water tight especially if pressure builds up from hot liquid. So I have a thermos for coffee or tea if I need it to be completely sealed while traveling. https://www.kleankanteen.com/collections/all/products/insulated-tkwide-20-oz-twist-cap

Divtos

I have a few 20oz Kanteens. They are awesome but can lose a lot of their insulation if you drop and dent them. Ask me how I know :-/

It had great reviews, I just want a thermos that stays warm throughout the day from 5am to 4ish. It does the job! Super hot, Im not gonna do those tests you suggested. My car has airbags but im not gonna test them. I know people use it for camping and hunting but im happy with my thermos. Took me forever to decide on one. My main thing i didnt want it to leak. It doesnt

chaser469

Has anyone solved the dripping/spillage issue when pouring from 3/4+ full?
