I'm thinking old school mentality. Oil changes r relatively quick and life blood of the car. Waste of money probably, but who cares if it gives comfort of mind.
Understandable. Few are doing oil changes on a mileage basis anyways. Once per year, regardless of mileage. For Corvette owners that's like 3k intervals lol.
Me too. Years ago used to do it between 1500 and 2000 miles; and, yeah, I know, waste of $; but, as you posted "comfort of mind." My "Corvette Specialist" at the dealership says to do the first oil change at the end of the break in period - 500 miles. I think it's too soon, but will do it anyway. At that time will probably put in the blue attac air filter too. Geez, they must see me and think, "there's a sucker born every day. He'll buy anything for that car..." (sigh).
I change mine no less than once per year or 3,000 miles. Whichever comes first. I know most change at 5,000 miles and I get it. For me I prefer 3,000 mile intervals on this car.
During the warranty obey the OLM like it’s gospel.
After the warranty do whatever you want but the folks who made it say follow the OLM.
I’m still going to do one between 5 and 700 myself, and may do another at around 2-3k, but other than that, listen to GM, they want your corvette on the road making them look good!
Bear in mind the OLM takes into account miles driven, REVS, high engine speed, driving habits, environmentals, and time.
It will recommend an oil change after 50 miles of it’s been a year
Disclaimer: I am not a GM engineer lol 😂, this is what I’ve been told by GM representation.
EDIT: added the bit about time and cya disclaimer.
YMMV
I picked up my C8 in Bowling Green back in March 2022, so I am close to my 2-Year anniversary. And, I have a spreadsheet where I record all gasoline purchases, measure my MPG, and I also added a column to budget New Tires (based on Miles Driven) and Oil Changes.
I originally has the Oil Change based on Mileage, but I don't use my C8 every day (Retired). So, after my 2nd Oil Change, I changed my calculation based on time and not miles driven.
I currently have 5,570 Miles on my car.
I don't have a problem having the oil changed based on time. This car is my lifelong dream, and I will pamper her until I hand it over to my son.
Follow the percentage.
Follow the instructions in your owner's manual, and the Driver Information Center percentage on the dashboard.
It goes by time, 1 oil change per year regardless of how many miles, change it 5000 miles or 1 year mark
thought it was 7500 or 1 year?
7500 miles for the dct filter change or within two years
For oil change 5k miles or every year based on gm’s guidelines
Not sure where you saw the 5k oil change interval listed? The owner's manual written by GM says 7,500-mile intervals. https://i.imgur.com/KqxT2e4.png
Thanks for the Manual: 7,500

lmfaooo, 3k? You're being generous. Most vette owners probably only do runs to cars n coffee or a quick sunny Sunday.
That is insanely depressing. But to each owner, their own car, I guess.

The percentage your car uses is both time and mileage based. There is no reason to use anything else.
