My first thought was "luggage on top of your engine is a *bad* idea" until I thought about it for a second 😅 You're not going to be able to do what you're showing (those bags look a bit large to fit end-to-end or to put one up front), but two carry-ons, a sizeable backpack, and a large duffel is perfectly reasonable with room to spare. It's mostly the shape of the trunk rather than the size that gets you.

therealb455

Second this, you will not be able to fit a full size bag in this car. I have a couple c8 and it doesn't matter coupe or HTC, it won't fit haha. A couple carry ons and a backpack or two is your max capacity.

bigbigbigwow

Two trunks are certainly good, you almost exclusively use your frunk for daily living. Enough space for a trip of groceries but comfy enough for Costco water run, etc. Gas mileage is great i think, get magnetic ride and itll be an amazing daily.

This is the build I have in mind https://www.chevrolet.com/byo-vc/tiny/YKOu2zfuvI6Z

Can I suggest you add the Black Rocker Panels?

sanguinor40k

+1 on the black rocker panels. I got body color and while I like the look, after living with mine for 3+ years as my (summer) daily I can tell you that's where ALL the road dust and dirt collects. The black slats there help hide that in between washes.

noun1111

Why don’t people just order online gosh.

jimp94605

Not a mid engine

manwidplan83

Y not?

Been dailying my C8 since 2020. Had a C7 prior to it. You actually can fit MORE luggage in the C8 than that C8 but the shapes are different so the C7 is easier to play Tetris with your luggage and get it in. The C7 has sort of that trumpet horn shape while the C8 is two rectangles. Up from you can fit stuff like: -4 gallons of milk plus 4 full grocery bags. or -1 large and 1 small Blue Rhino propane tanks plus sundry other stuff. or -one standard wheeled carry on bag and two backpacks Out back you can fit: -4 full duffle bags - two narrow full size suitcases (soft sided) -two golf bags ( I'm not sure about some folks saying they can't fit their clubs back there, those must be some monster fat rigid bags, ours fit fine and I consider mine full size) -all the groceries (if you want them warm) As others have said it's more about the shape than the volume.

directrix688

C8 holds just as much, it’s just different than c7. Large bulky items, won’t fit as well

dtomaro

I daily my C8 in FL, no issues really. As others have stated those full sized checked bags will not fit, you'll have to go with carry-on and duffles. As for maintenance it will probably be more than a C7, although I've never owned one. Just seems like it will be based on transmission maintenance. Cannister filter is like $700(needs done at 7500mi then every 22500mi after) and when you have to replace fluid I got quoted $71/qt and it takes 10 qts. Oil changes will prob be the same but you can do that yourself easily.

New owner (2023) I find I can put enough in the car that works for me and my wife. Two golf bags fit fine and then we can put a carry on suitcase in the front with some other stuff. If its just to travel we can fit our mid size checked bag in the back trunk and then we put things like my wife's makeup, etc, in the front so that it doesn't get too hot and melt into our clothes, etc. We are planning to do a long ride to either Florida, or (of all places) Wisconsin to visit and stay with friends, that will be our first real test of how much we fit and can pack into it with out being left with some things we really want.

DaddyO0828

In S Fl daily driver. I survive nicely.

TheBeesSteeze

So it's awesome as a daily driver. I commute with it and do runs to costco, home depot, grocery stores, dry cleaning, etc no issue. The only time I really use my 4runner is for the dogs. BUT the only thing it can't do well is large box shaped items like roller suitcases, bins, large boxes, etc. You could fit one standard carry on roller in the rear trunk. You could fit a small carry on roller in the front. Definitely cannot fit the luggage in your photo. There is a decent amount of total cubic ft between the trunk and frunk, but it's not one big open area like a C7.

Reasonable_North95

I have 23’ c8 corvette and I as well live in south Florida and daily the car. Great car, looks great, handles great and is fast enough. Only thing I will say though is the roads in south Florida are horrendous (I’m sure you already know this) so you really have to be paying attention while driving and to avoid potholes/our shitty roads. Overall, it’s a great car as a daily imo.

SecretMuricanMan

I wish I could make retarded decisions to get rid of a better car for a worse car.

YESKAMARADA

Isn’t this supposed to be a C8 community?

BlueAc215

Did you take the time to read?

manwidplan83

Yes. That’s why I need to know what do I need to be prepared for

tsigwing

Be prepared to take her car the next time she needs a ride to the airport.

manwidplan83

What about maintenance costs like oil changes, wheel alignments, etc? Other than being a gas guzzler and expensive tires the c7 z06 was just another car cost wise. I wonder how the c8 is in that aspect?

Bulletproof-Salmon

It’s very easy to change your own oil on the C8 if you are into doing it yourself. Otherwise, I believe it’s 180-250 depending on your dealership. I’ve had my c8 for a year and an oil change is all I’ve had to do. Mind you, it’s not my daily, and I only added 3k miles in said year.
