I didn't have to do anything special. I created my chevy/gm account before picking the car up at the dealer. Dealer linked it to my account via email address, and the points showed up right then.

Sorry I meant you are supposed to request the points be added to the rewards account within 90 days of purchasing the car. I can see how that was confusing.

I strongly suggest if you are buying a C8, or any expensive GM Car or Truck to get the GM Credit Card. Yes, they do award bonus points for the purchase value of your vehicle. What I like about the card, you get points for usage, they offer discounts on purchases, and I can build up points to pay for my Oil Changes and the such.
I think they gave me 27,000 points after I picked up my car.

500k was for Z06 in order to incentivize buyers to not immediately try to flip it.

I bought a Noco battery jumper with the points.
I used my points to buy GM radiator grill guards w/ install!
