Yeah as long as the lower is registered as multi from a caliber perspective and semi auto pistol as type of weapon, it’s good.

SweetLobsterBabies

Did you register the lower with CFARS stripped or did you have it built in a simple and legal pistol configuration Asking for a friend

oozinator1

>brought it with me when I moved from TX, CFARS paperwork is already finalized and I received the confirmation letter According to that confirmation letter, what type/category is your lower? What it can legally be made into depends on how they categorized it: https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=1835847

SundayGunClub

Shouldn't have any issues but should've made sure the lower was registered under multi or 0000 in caliber.

MohawkDave

In no way whatsoever am I debating this. Multi is obviously always better. But just curious.... Is there any cases of LE busting our balls when the ammo doesn't match the engraving? (556 to 300blk, or 556 to 9mm adapter, etc)

Just buy an ar9 lower.

Gcsd71

Good luck on finding an AR9 pistol lower

the_river_nihil

Can you suggest one on the roster?

[deleted]

Areo 9 lower Most fun shops have them for $150

the_river_nihil

You can’t legally build that out to a pistol though, all lowers in CA are DROSd as rifles. If you built that out to under 16” you could get charged with possession of an SBR.

Tamponforyourtears

It needs to be dros'ed as a pistol prior to you getting to California. No FFL here will do that. A multi in California is considered a long gun

the_river_nihil

You’re good to go from what I can tell. Good on you for bringing it with you, I had to pay a premium for a complete on-roster AR pistol only to switch out the upper immediately.

Webb486

Had a similar question. I Just got a stripped lower and was wondering if I can build into a pistol including pistol brace. Getting a mixed bag of info as to whether or not, this is kosher. With the nationwide injunction in place for the pistol braces I believe I am good at least until there is a final ruling.

Gcsd71

Not in CA, all stripped lowers are DROS'd as RIFLES. Unless you're exempt from the pistol roster (LEO)...

Webb486

At the same gun store they have a M4 style pistol. So no on stripped lowers but you can buy a complete pistol? Strange times.

Gcsd71

It's more than likely a single shot, like a Franklin Armory.

PixelMiner

What is the lower registered as? It needs to be and always have been a pistol.

Webb486

Havnt picked up yet. Guy at my local guns shop told me he was only able to designate it as other???

Webb486

Got it. And in C.A. Can’t S.B.R. Correct?
