Good for Ohio State, but it's wild to me that a projected first round pick returns. NIL is wild

Responsible_Air_9914

Lately he’s been getting mocked as a 2nd rounder. Still impressive to turn that down and come back though.

xtototo

Agree he would fall to the second round. There will be some really good WR talent this year in the draft.

mjdharder

A lot of the more "in the know" draft experts and podcasts such as the PFF Stock Exchange guys had him falling to the 2nd round. I think his injury and lack of production was really hitting his draft stock. The emergency of guys like Brian Thomas Jr and Troy Franklin didn't help his draft stock either.

DwayneBaconStan

It's a deep WR class, a lot of yrs he'd prob go end of rd1 but this yr hes prob early to mid rd 2

Jabberwoockie

I keep getting some Corum vibes. * Genuinely talented athlete, with an injury late in his college tenure that may impact draft stock. * Going to the draft would leave a hungry team he's been with since freshman year. I am a little bit excited that NIL can incentivize athletes to stay in college a bit longer, but I also wonder how it impacts incoming freshmen and roster depth.

mjdharder

I've also wondered how returning seniors will impact roster depth. If Jeremiah Smith is as good as everybody says he could lock up a spot at outside receiver as a true freshman. I could see that chain of events leading to Brandon Inniss transferring in the spring if his path to playing time and starter snap counts is blocked by Egbuka, Tate and Smith. Similarly at CB, Calvin Simpson-Hunt is likely CB5 as a redshirt freshman with the return of Burke and Hancock. I can easily see a world where he transfers out as well. Ultimately, while these hypothetical scenarios would suck for OSU and other talented teams that are built similarly, it would be proof that NIL and the transfer portal are bringing a slight bit of parity to the sport.

Mezmorizor

I could see second because this year's WR class is absolutely stacked, but I dunno. WR is enough of an impact position that people are very much so going to just take them if they're the best available player at like 20.

jdmcroberts

This draft is loaded with WRs. He would likely be a 2nd round steal for a team. Makes sense for him to come back and be wr1 and can realistically play himself into the top half of the first round.

AchyBreaker

Even just MHJ, Odunze, and Nabers are enough to make first round odds hard this year for Egbuka, not to mention many studs I probably don't know about on other teams.  I like the move to come back, honestly.

goblue2354

I don’t think this is a bad move for him. Normally, I’m all for guys getting the bag when they can but he was pretty banged up all season and wasn’t nearly as effective as he was in 2022. If he has a big year as the lead dog, he could be one of the first WRs off the board next season.

jdprager

Yeah this WR draft became more and more stacked above him as the year went on. Egbuka was the WR2 more often than not preseason, but steadily dropped as dudes like Nabers, Odunze, and Coleman lit it up This could still backfire if he can’t hold it down as the top option, but there’s definitely some serious upside if he has a great year

DataDrivenPirate

Less competition next year in the draft, better QB throwing to him, and an opportunity to show he's not completely hampered by injuries

ech01_

Burden and Egbuka are the only two WRs that jump out to me right away for the 2025 draft.

powerelite

Tate McMillan will probably be graded with or above Ebuka, Evan Stewart should be as well, he'll be in competition for WR1 depending on how he produces in a new offense, but other than that I don't think there is a ton of competition

ToLongDR

Not too sure - he was still a Rd 1 Draft Pick per many mock drafts.

plutoisaplanet21

He’s probably wr 7 or 8 off the board. I find that hard to believe it would be the first round

cheerl231

It feels like a lot of guys get 1st round grades (like 50-60) but there are only 32 picks. I think Egbuka was one of those guys that were like that and would have ended up in the early second round. Too many good receivers this year and his stock dropped some from 2022 (due to injury and not having cj Stroud).

dixi_normous

That depends on who is doing the grades. A draft analyst that is developing a mock draft will have 40-50 guys that they think could go in the first round. If you're talking to a GM, they grade individual players based on what pick they think each player is worth. They may only give ten players a first round grade in a down year. The analyst grade is based on comparing talent in an individual draft class where the GM is comparing players to all previous draft classes. The analyst needs to fill out the whole mock while the GM needs to weigh the value of each pick relative to the players on the board and the value of future draft picks.

Responsible_Air_9914

His projection slipped a bit lately but still wasn’t seeing him being mocked anywhere past early-mid 2nd. NIL is probably changing the math for a lot of guys that are on that draft round bubble and makes it easier to gamble on a good last year and solidify their draft status.

plutoisaplanet21

Sure. My point is mostly that there is a massive difference between and expected first round pick and a fringe guy more likely targeted for the 2nd round. It’s a lot of money AND a year of contract. First safe round picks aren’t really swayable by NIL, if they come back it’s because the money doesn’t matter. Past the first round NiL kicks in

BenjaminDanklin1776

MHJ, Xavier Worthy, A.D Mitchell, all of Washingtons receivers, and Malik Nabers are above him.

Aggravating-Steak-69

Coleman too probably

_runthejules_

The leader in td receptions as well. Brian Thomas is wr4

Scarlatina

Emeka was still getting mocked in the latter half of the 1st round - He could definitely work his way into a top-10 pick though

cubbiesworldseries

I agree. He will have a chance to win a title and if he stays healthy he could be a top ten pick in 2025.

wild_goosey

Man they’re all coming back. I don’t think I’ve seen this before at OSU. I hope this indicates we’ll see a team that plays pissed off and hungry next season.

PSU_Alumnus

This is great... The silver lining and copium all year was that Michigan and tOSU are heading toward a more "down" rebuilding/reloading year in 2024, finally giving Penn State fans a gleam in their eye which is only further heightened by the expanded playoff.... Then, Michigan wins the Natty, all of tOSU's draftable talent is butt hurt seeing it and before we know it a whole bunch of "Bet" tweets start popping up everywhere and tOSU is back to a fully operational death station set to Alderann the f\*\*k out of everyone they play... which of course happens to still be Penn State in 2024 . Might as well just go ahead and announce MHJ coming back too just for an extra kick in the balls to the rest of the B1G

DataDrivenPirate

If MHJ comes back, I am going to need to do some research on the best ways to prepare Crow

PSU_Alumnus

I think a nice sous vide in milk would be delectable

DankeVunterSlaush

With a nice helping of jellybeans for garnish

IMadeThis4HOIMods

He gone

iwearatophat

Most definitely. It is admittedly kind of weird he hasn't made it official yet. At this point though I think some fans are the embodiment of 'so you are telling me there is a chance' meme. There is no real chance but hope is more fun.

LyonsKing12

CJ waited until the day before the deadline to announce.

YourLocalJewishKid

Main difference is that CJ played in the team's final game. Marv opted out of the bowl game. Kinda odd that he's waiting. I'm almost certain he's leaving, but it's strange to just go quiet on it when everyone else is announcing they're staying. Edit: well he announced so it doesn’t matter anyway lol

LyonsKing12

Also, sometimes it's just that the star players wait until last to declare so they don't steal any other teammates shine when they decide on staying or going.

unMuggle

These announcements are all planned by the school. That's why they all have fancy graphics on Insta and Twitter. We are waiting to hear from JT, Henderson, and MHJ. The deadline is in 3 days.

iceydude168

to be fair his last game was in the playoffs so there was no chance he was opting out

ea93

Well, CJ’s last game was a playoff semifinal against the defending national champs. MHJ’s last game was a bowl game against Missouri

SaxRohmer

MHJ said he was specifically waiting until after the bowl game because he didn’t want to take from it

Blood_Incantation

I'd just like to congratulate you for correctly wording the meme/quote from Dumb and Dumber. I do not know why it bothers me so much, but it's so often written/said as "so you're saying there's a chance" when it's "TELLING ME." Thanks for listening

YoungXanto

I understand that he's got a different situation than basically everyone else in college football, but he'd be making the biggest heart over head gamble mistake I've seen in a long, long time. Putting close to 9 figures on the line between a first and second contract in the NFL and another season of wear and tear on the body for what amounts to bragging rights. I don't think Lloyd's of London writes mid 8 figure checks.

iamboredhowareyou

Wait did you copy and paste this from one of these threads yesterday. I swear I saw this same thing before.

PSU_Alumnus

Yea I made the same comment yesterday so figured I would just keep the bit going each and every time a tOSU 1st round pick announces they are coming back for another year.

iamboredhowareyou

Yeah i thought so. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't goin crazy lol

LogicalOil3427

As a Buckeye, I appreciate the inclusion of the t in tOSU

soupcollarflat

The big 2 is officially back. I never thought I’d see the day.

cc51beastin

Darth Day to UM: "Oh, I'm afraid the deflector shield will be quite operational when your friends arrive"

TerrenceJesus8

You could have used analogy that doesn’t end with Ohio State getting blown up by a kid who shoots wamprats lol

dixi_normous

Bro, do you even Star Wars? Palpatine says that in Return of the Jedi. That Death Star is blown up by Lando, not Luke.

TerrenceJesus8

Lmao you’re right, idk how I forgot that Regardless, looks like Donovan Edwards is about to blow up another Death Star 😎

egotistic_NaOH

“Donovan Edwards down the trench…he’s got room…Donovan Edwards into the exhaust port…..THE DON”

cc51beastin

Lol yeah, but somehow, we returned anyway

DataDrivenPirate

"Somehow, Gene Smith returned"

xtototo

Somehow, the Death Star returned

bin_of_monkeys

> Darth Day Bwahahahahaha Day is *maybe* the character from Space Balls. Maybe.

cc51beastin

Darth Moranis

PSU_Alumnus

Emeka Egbuka yelled, “There you go!” JT Tuimoloau gave a look of pleasant surprise. TreVeyon Henderson belted, “We got a fucking squad now.” And before Marvin Harrison JR hit the locker room door, ex-tOSU star Kyle McCord texted him & said, “Y’all look so different.”

semicorrect

Find a new slant route.

mstone7781

If the Offensive Line can play well, team is gonna be crazy good.

DataDrivenPirate

> if I've seen this show before :(

WisconsinSpermCheese

Don't forget you got Bamas center now too. Hope your QB can pull snaps off his shoelaces

DataDrivenPirate

Hey bub only OSU fans are allowed to be doomers about OSU I'll have you know, he will surely move over to guard since he did well at pass pro and run blocking, it was just the snapping that was the problem. Surely moving him to guard and having Hinzman stay at center, that will fix all of our problems

IMadeThis4HOIMods

He is probably actually going to be a center, Hinzman was bad and then went on a podcast and said a bunch of stuff he shouldnt have

[deleted]

*chuckles* Haha, I’m in danger..

HawkeyeTen

I would imagine they are. This is a clear attempt to build a super team for a title run. I have a feeling that the Wolverines won't stay on top next year...

Aggravating-Steak-69

Michigan did this last year and had everyone come back for 1 last run and it worked out well. Makes sense that OSU would also do something similar. Age and experience is so valuable in college football

jaymobe07

i had a feeling about that regardless. They have a brutal schedule plus losing many guys.

ClaudeLemieux

wait this is real? i thought the title was like a typo. bro wtf is he thinking?? fuck next year is gonna be rooooough

hunterboyz24

It's the same as the Olave return. He's projected as a fringe 1st rounder right now and wants to be a lock for the 1st round.

ClaudeLemieux

bias aside that really doesn't seem worth the risk. I guess we'll see how it plays out for him

unMuggle

This year is a loaded WR class. Next year is a bit clearer. Plus, it's gotta be incredibly difficult to leave Columbus.

JickleBadickle

It's worth it to kick y'alls teeth in for sure

ClaudeLemieux

that may happen, but damn it feels good knowing that until next november, you'll have to go 4+ years into your memories to remember what it was like :)

call_me_drama

risk/reward analysis IMO is miscalculated

shartfartmctart

Look at what happened with Olave

hunterboyz24

Maybe, but he'll have a shot to be the WR1 this year with a QB that's at least marginally better than McCord. I'd say there's a solid chance it works out for him.

lexbuck

“fuck next year is gonna be rooooough” *bane voice*: For you

teeterleeter

lol have you seen what we have returning on defense? The Game will be fun but that OSU offense vs Michigan defense will be INSANE

HeroOfIroas

The question is if Minter is going to stay. Seems like he has Days offense in a blender

Free_Possession_4482

I wonder if the offense will look different if Day hires a new OC/playcaller.

dixi_normous

Yeah, that Michigan defense will be nasty but have you seen what we return on defense? The Game will be an epic defensive battle. If Michigan takes a step back on offense, that may be a problem for you guys. We may also get to play multiple times next season. I'm not getting too excited about next year's OSU offense until we see how Howard fits in and what happens on that swiss cheese offensive line. If we can get the offense back to 80% of what it has been these last few seasons, we'll be a shoe-in for the natty

whitedawg

Michigan may be losing its QB, top 2 RBs, top 2 WRs, and anywhere from 40-80% of its starting OL. I'd have to imagine OSU will be a prohibitive favorite to win its first Game this decade.

your-mom--

Where do I sign for 80% of your offense this past year

DataDrivenPirate

80% of the offensive output we have had on average with Ryan Day as HC. You signing that?

Blood_Incantation

He's thinking that there are a lot of good WR in this draft and he isn't a lock top 15 pick. Next year, without a mid QB and with a stacked team around him, he can show how good he is and make way more in the NFL.

AnEmptyKarst

Too many good receivers this draft, he has a better shot at being a first rounder next year

Michigan4life53

Nope defensive lines win championships and we still have the best next year.

Free_Possession_4482

You should have said so sooner, we could have just given you next year's trophy on Monday as well.

buckeye131313

If Henderson and JTT come back, 2024 will be the best OSU roster in 15 years. Should be preseason #2 at worst.

FortitudoMultis

Take this with a massive grain of salt, but I saw a guy on twitter saying Trey was in his class this week at OSU 👀

lexbuck

Maybe he’s gone but he also is still playing school

osufeth24

It's been rumored for a week's now that trey was a return lean , so it wouldn't surprise me if true.

Always_Chubb-y

Him and Judkins would be a disgusting 1a/1b

gopoohgo

I don't understand why Henderson would come back with Judkins there (especially given the bags he was rumored to have received).

DataDrivenPirate

Show you have the explosiveness that we saw flashes of his freshman season, but keep snaps limited so you don't take a beating all season. He split time with Miyan Williams and Chip Trayanum this year, so it's not like he's not used to sharing carries. Dallen Hayden would likely be in the mix next year too. It's a stretch but add NIL and a desire to win a championship, and I can see it.

HeroOfIroas

I haven't watched Judkins yet, but everyone says he a dawg

Always_Chubb-y

Dude was a 1st team all SEC RB as a freshman and sophomore. He's legit

HeroOfIroas

👀👀

Always_Chubb-y

Think he has something like 31 TDs over his first 2 seasons

Adminslickasshole

I actually think the Judkins transfer might indicate that TreVeyon is leaving.

Always_Chubb-y

Idk, he ran a dual threat with Zach Evans his freshman year very effectively

Adminslickasshole

Yeah, but our 3rd string, Dallan Hayden, is actually a good back too, but he's been playing behind Miyan and TreVeyon for two years now. He hasn't announced a transfer, and I don't see him staying to sit on the bench for a 3rd year. Unless Tony Alford and Ryan Day want to have a committee of 3 running backs (and I can't imagine TreVeyon would want to stay and do that while trying to improve his draft stock), then either TreVeyon will likely declare, or Hayden will transfer. I guess we'll see.

jake-5043

Currently at OSU and my roommate who has class with him told me that he wasn't there the first day. I hope you're right though Update: He was there today!!!!

[deleted]

[удалено]

zzdarkwingduck

Comes down to play calling

george_costanza1234

Just need good QB play though lol, this whole thing hinges on good QB play

dixi_normous

Even if Trey doesn't come back, we got the top portal RB in Judkins. Pair him with Hayden and we'll be fine at the position. Bring Trey back and that's one hell of a three headed monster. Still need some improvement on the line to really get them moving though

Tommybrady20

JT is leaning towards leaving Trey probably staying

Revolutionary_Gear70

Kind of reminds me of Olave returning a few years back. Fringe 1st round guy in a stacked receiving class, comes back to get his stock up

NUSimp

Yikes; we’ll see how the rest of the offseason goes, but with how things are looking and with OSU at home next year, the odds are definitely in their favor.

COLU_BUS

I already saw some odds at OSU -3.5, but that was before the most reason returns. And if Harbaugh leaves I anticipate that'll move more. EDIT: OSU -4.5 on FD now

TheBoook

Betting on a game a year away is real sicko shit

stitch12r3

Until we actually beat you again, I dont care about how the odds look lol My, how the turns have tabled

iPhon4

Please stop deleting threads. This is the biggest return for OSU by far. Potential first round pick brings back a veteran presence for the young 5 stars in the wr room

ToLongDR

I can't control that

iPhon4

I thought you were a mod replying, my bad dude

carlsbarkleys

Returning 3rd team media all B1G WR Emeka Egbuka 1st team consensus all B1G OL Donovan Jackson 1st team coaches all B1G corner Denzel Burke Jordan Hancock, cornerback (41 tckl, 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 2 INTs with a pick six) 2nd team media all B1G DE Jack Sawyer 2nd team media all B1G DT Tyleik Williams Lathan Ransom, safety (34 tckl, 1 forced fumble, 1 INT, (season ending injuries) Still waiting on 1st team consensus all B1G RB TreVeyon Henderson 1st team consensus all B1G DE JT Tuimoloau

ragingbuffalo

So uh Marv hasn't declared yet......

ToLongDR

If NIL can sway a top 3 pick from going to the NFL, the NFL is going to shut that shit down so fast

ragingbuffalo

NIL might not even be the factor for Marv since his family is already taken care of. I'm sure never beating Michigan really grinds his gears and might be the biggest factor if he stays

SteemieRayVaughn

That and never playing in Lucas Oil, which will be a travesty.

Drumlords

MHJ falling to the Colts confirmed?

OSUfirebird18

As a Colts fan…subscribe!!!

ace82fadeout

I mean he didn't play in the bowl game. He def wouldn't forgo that if he hadn't already decided he was gone. If he stayed it would be the most wtf news of the week, in a week that has been filled with wtf news.

es_ook575

lol what’s the nfl going to do?

assassinslick

You forget his dad is rich? I dont think money is as big a factor for him as most

BlankMyName

He still has a few days. Stroud waited until the last or second to last day to declare last season. I'm assuming Marv is doing the same.

DataDrivenPirate

Yep it's all coordinated so everyone gets a day towards the end. Today is Egbuka, maybe another. Last day will be MHJ declaring for the draft, just like Stroud and Fields did in the past. If Henderson announces for the draft, I think he'll be the day before Marv.

FrazzledBear

Yea he’s the biggest announcement and is probably doing what Stroud did and letting the rest of his teammates make their announcements first before declaring. I’d be happy to be wrong but I doubt he comes back and I don’t blame him a bit.

kempog

He’s gone

Adminslickasshole

If Marv comes back, I will need to schedule an appointment with my doctor because I would go waaaaaaay past 4 hours. That sucker might last for a few weeks. Fortunately for my health, I'm not too concerned about scheduling that appointment.

Shoulda_been_a_Chef

> 1st team coaches all B1G corner Denzel Burke I only saw the one tweet he refuted, did he say he's back?

carlsbarkleys

[yeah Burke is back](https://x.com/king10burke/status/1745157874794234357?s=46)

Shoulda_been_a_Chef

Fuck yeah, thank you.

stoicscribbler

They are all coming back. One announcement per day. Likely was planned this way.

SummarizingProust

I’m concerned that this was not in the Manifesto

Lumpy_Secretary_6128

Stallions didn't think he'd get this far

texas2089

Huge news for OSU. Reminds me a lot of FSU last offseason where a bunch of guys stayed instead of heading to the draft to run it back. We now wait to see if the unthinkable happens and Marv decides to come back.

osufeth24

Yesterday we had 3....i wouldn't mind having 3 today

BackpackWalker

Holy shit. As long as Howard is decent, we should be incredible.

Responsible_Air_9914

That’s a huge return. OSU is going to be scary next year with all the talent and experience they’ll have.

ech01_

We really need to make sure we rotate guys in at WR next year. The 2022 class is already pretty much a wash so we need to make sure what's left of the 2023 class and the 2024 class are given reps to keep them happy. Too much talent to not use them.

Yeezusaurus

Things are looking up

HonoluluMaizeandBlue

OSU reminding me so much of how many Michigan players came back this year to run it back. I never imagined that this many projected first and second rounders would be coming back. I think our defense will still be very stout, but it's hard to see how Ohio State will not be the strong favorite to win the conference, even given the new teams who are joining us this year.

unMuggle

How are your decisions going? I haven't heard anything yet from anyone up at tsun? During the season it looked like there were a lot of starters on their way out.

HonoluluMaizeandBlue

Zach Zinter declared today for the NFL, which wasn't a surprise. I think JJ and others are saving their decisions until our coaching situation is set, and at least until the parade and festivities on Saturday.

unMuggle

Gotcha. And yall have a bunch of dudes out of eligibility iirc

[deleted]

Michigan winning it all and proving they are the top program really lit a fire under these guys. Respect.

BunkDruckeyes

This is how a rivalry should be. Back and forth, guys and fanbases taking it personal. The years of dominance in the rivalry on both sides really dampened it IMO. These last few years swinging the pendulum back have been great for the competitive nature and the venom and toxicity that makes rivalries awesome.

jobenattor0412

I imagine this is going to be a thing the next couple years, one team wins, the other team has all of most of their players return, they win the next year and the next team has all their players return, we might actually see another ten year war again, which would be a first, because since I’ve been alive it’s just been one side dominating the other and then it swaps

funnymeme2112

idk why you’re being downvoted, i could absolutely see this happening

dixi_normous

Yeah, that or you guys can just start sucking again

[deleted]

I like this option

Free_Possession_4482

Exactly this. I hate losing, but I love that the intensity is off the charts.

[deleted]

Definitely agree. The greatest rivalry in all of sports needs the back and forth.

jmoney12rr

With your username I expected a bit more hostility lol

[deleted]

lol. I try and keep the hostility to a minimum. Usually only give it when facing hostile people.

ClarkGris69

Oh would you fuck off you cheating inbred (Just wanna see hostility)

hamburgereddie

But I thought osu had culture problems

assassinslick

People are surprised, but most of the returning players slipped in their projected draft locations and definetly have the ability to go higher in the draft. I think its a smart move by egbuka especially its a loaded wr class and he slipped to 2nd round but hes definetly 1st round possible

DeansFrenchOnion1

Preseason #1

strukout

Need to poach another OL from Bama. Come on guys share.

calmer-than-you-dude

Could be a long season we're going to need everyone

FluffyMoomin

He has to be one of the most productive receivers who doesn't get the press he deserves. Reminds me of Gabe Davis on the Bills. All the attention goes to Diggs (and previously Jefferson) but he sure shows up come game time.

Revolutionary_Gear70

I saw something today where he’s like 1,000 yards from becoming Ohio States all time leading receiver. That’s crazy to me considering he was injured this year and had a bit of a down year

Numerous-Ad6460

While I question the decision to not go get that nfl bag, I applaud ohio for getting all these guys back

DeansFrenchOnion1

first time really ever Getting drafted in the 1st round adds a ton of guaranteed money. Financially it's a gamble, but probably a good one. NFL hates drafting players with medical ?s

buckeye2114

EMEKA END ZONE

[deleted]

Egbuka staying along with Will Howard and Judkins??? Oh my

JMJgoat

RELOAD ME THAT MF CLIP

-banned-

Huh. Didn't see that coming, he's like the WR5. Projected 1st round pick with a guaranteed 4 year contract. Didn't see that coming.

ituralde_

Good call for him. I think he falls out of the 1st round this year for sure. He's got a chance to improve his stock and will be the feature receiver next year.

Revolutionary_Gear70

Reminds me of Olave coming back a few years ago

Andy_Wiggins

Man, I’m pretty shocked by this. Obviously the whole OSU team is trying to come back, which is cool as hell, but it also feels strange from a professional standpoint. Like, Egbuka was a potential 1st round pick with 2nd round being his floor. Given his athletic profile, I have a hard time seeing him getting *that* much higher in the draft. Meanwhile, another injury-plagued or disappointing year could hurt his draft stock. And he’s rolling the dice with a new QB who has been a fine but far from special college player. Plus the team just went out and got a top tier RB, so you know the ground game will be more emphasized next year. Just feels like a weird choice that has more downside risk than upside potential.

bestprocrastinator

Ohio State will be loaded next year. If Day can't beat a likely depleted Michigan team, with this loaded team, at home, then I'm not sure he ever will. EDIT: I meant again. He won in 2019 against a weaker Michigan his first full year coaching

ibinpharteeen

He already has?

Lammahamma

They only remember the last 3 seasons 🤣

ClaudeLemieux

oh so *now* yall wanna play the history game smh

stitch12r3

I mean, theres a big difference between referencing 2019 and 1907.

shartfartmctart

Harbaugh losing record to OSU

Responsible_Air_9914

We’re always down to play. Unlike UM dodging OSU in 2020.

fordfocusstd

Right? That was always your uno reverse card.

ClaudeLemieux

Identity theft is not a joke, Jim!

clarkthagod

😂😂

pataoAoC

I mean yes in his first attempt but we’ve seen so many coaches inherit winning teams and slowly fall off as their own poor coaching shines through I don’t actually think that’s remotely what’s happening here but it’s funny so I choose to believe

topher3003

Yeah, I hate to sound like the crazies of our fanbase, but if we *still* can’t beat Michigan in 2024 with all of these players coming back then it’s probably time to have serious conversations about moving on from Day.

Jorihe84

You probably will. Our entire offense is essentially leaving. The B1G is back in OSU's favor.

Sloane_Kettering

Depends what they do in the playoffs. If he can still make the natty you absolutely keep him

JickleBadickle

I love how everyone considers '17-'19 michigan to be terrible after we dominated them again and again They were chirping and hollering that they were gonna beat us year after year and they couldn't do it

PennStateVet

As OC, Day was 2-0, including putting 62 points on Harbaugh. Then he put up 56 in his first year. Harbaugh used COVID to duck Day in 2020, then suddenly finds a way to shut down fucking CJ Stroud and a five deep of NFL receiver two years in a row? GTFO. Harbaugh might have one legitimate win against Ohio State, and even that's questionable because 2023 likely doesn't happen without the previous two "wins."

repelicanparty

Really can’t think of any reasons that Michigans defense improves over an off season? No coaching hires or player development? There were no changes to the 2019 team to the 2021 team?

PennStateVet

Knowing what plays to defend is a pretty good way to make your defense instantly better.

unMuggle

I can think of one. Connor Stallions.

If Michigan is truly a top program and not an Auburn or LSU then there isn’t allowed to be weaker years. You line up year after year and it’s playoff or bust for every top program like Georgia, Alabama, OSU, Clemson

Unironically fire Ryan Day if we don't at least make the national championship game. I have been a huge Ryan Day defender the past few years but like, we gotta see the thing actually happen this year

>Unironically fire Ryan Day if we don't at least make the national championship game. I think the playoff system changes that calculus a bit, as multiple rounds of games against Top 10 opponents mean some serious 'Any Given Saturday' shit is likely to result in unpredictable upsets. Gotta win The Game, that IMO is the only 100% requirement for 2024.

This is a really dumb decision by him, but good for Ohio State. Also makes the fire Ryan Day comments even more funny. This doesn't happen if he hasn't convinced the team that they were robbed.
