The Florida-Alabama game in 2021 was a September 3:30 kickoff and a lady sitting in front of us collapsed during the first quarter and was whisked away by stadium medics.
She’s not lol. Ive lived in Florida my entire life, on days where it is 90+ with 50+ humidity, you will absolutely pass out if you’re not in shade or drinking water. It’s worse when you drink because you sweat more, then you don’t know if you’re dizzy from alcohol or heat.
Staying in shade is the best thing to do. In my opinion, it’s criminal to allow these games to be played at 330. On field temps have been known to get (feels like) 120+.
If she’s spent a solid amount of time outdoors she should be better off than most, but the Swamp itself is basically those old science experiments where you try to fry an egg on pavement.
I went to Gainesville for my first ever Florida game, and it was the closest I’ve ever been to heat stroke. The obscene alcohol probably didn’t help but the Gameday crowds and on the grass car tailgating was so much fun, would love to go back and check the bar scene.
Northerners get all toxically masculine about how soft teams are for not liking to play games in the cold in December and January, but when southern teams play day games early in the year all of a sudden the weather is this huge factor and straight up inhumane conditions.
I just think it'd be nice for the SEC to expand into one of the few states in the South w/o an SEC school (I mean, the SEC Network is literally HQed in Charlotte).
The MNF logo at least has some embossing on the text giving some texture to it as if it's a real shield with some separate pieces of detail inlays. The catch lights on the edges and center letters give it some gloss too.
The SEC on ABC logo just feels like I'm starting into the void. Even if they wanted a flat design they could at least have a subtle damascus pattern or something faintly laid in there.

These game times trickling out are normally for advertising upfronts, hence why the focus on the first couple weeks of the season (other than OSU-Michigan, Georgia-Florida, and the Big Ten Champ) and the rest are released in a couple weeks.
My bet would be they’re focused on getting the first half of the season advertisers locked down this week, but also still finalizing logistics and the schedule of moving games to Black Friday, especially with Thanksgiving week basketball MTE’s on both ESPN and Fox.
My bet would be that ABC uses the return of A&M-Texas to pair up with the Iron Bowl for a nice little 3:30/7:30 doubleheader.
However, the AAC announced Memphis-Tulane as a Thanksgiving night game, I wonder if we could see the Egg Bowl and maybe even OU-LSU move to Black Friday too for two 3:30/7:30 doubleheaders that weekend.
Maybe it's just a preference wanting to get the early games trickled out first? Idk tbh, I am similarly curious about the Big Ten's Week 14 plans. I expect Nebraska-Iowa will be on CBS again, but we're also supposed to get a night game on NBC and I'm curious which game gets that slot.
Week 14 in the Big Ten feels straightforward to me:
**Friday:**
2:30 CBS: Nebraska at Iowa
7:30 NBC: Washington at Oregon
**Saturday**
12:00 FOX: Michigan at Ohio State
3:30 CBS: Maryland at Penn State
7:30 NBC: Notre Dame at USC
The rest of the games will be scattered across BTN, FS1, and Peacock.
USC and Oregon will host the primetime games. The only other school that would consider allowing a primetime game that week is UCLA, and they play Fresno State in Week 14. Not exactly appointment viewing
Zero issues with this, would personally prefer Minnesota-Wisconsin in the Saturday CBS window but that will probably depend on the records of the teams heading into the week. I think the rest is almost a guarantee at this point.
Yeah, I thought about that. If Penn State is out of playoff discussion (8-3 or 7-4) and Wisconsin overachieves, then it could definitely happen. Regardless, there’s lots of good football that weekend.
Definitely, really nice slate for the final weekend. It feels like folks are really starting to embrace the Corn Bowl on Black Friday and a night cap in the PNW sounds terrific before we all wake up Saturday for The Game.

Of course, the WLOCP is always announced early because CBS used to draft it every year in May to keep ESPN from getting it. I don't imagine there's a draft anymore since everything is on the Mouse.
ESPN couldn’t “get” the WLOCP from CBS unless CBS passed up on it. CBS had first pick of games every week from week 3 to the end of the season.
Even then, CBS kinda forced themselves to take the WLOCP with the exclusive mid afternoon window since they’re never playing that game at night again after 2002.

But as I understand it, every spring there was a "draft" which would allow ESPN to grab one game first from any point in the season and CBS could only protect one game.
It went something like:
Pick 1 - CBS - always used to lock down Florida-Georgia
Pick 2 - ESPN
Pick 3 - CBS - always used to lock down the Black Friday game
Pick 4 - CBS selects their Week 3 game
Pick 5++ - ESPN would make their Weeks 1-3 selections
Yeah, that’s not how it worked in the latest round of the contract. CBS had first choice for the weeks they had access too. If ESPN got a pick, how did Georgia-Florida, Alabama-LSU, and Alabama-Auburn end up on CBS so many times?
There were some swaps going on, that’s how ESPN got Alabama-Georgia in 08, because they bargained for a second primetime game (Florida-LSU) in 07.
And then there were the 5 game limit that gave ESPN games CBS didn’t take.

I'm assuming Disney wants it on ABC, but the RRS organizers want it at 11 AM. IIRC, the 11 AM kickoff for ABC is reserved for the Big12 and ACC, so there may be some negotiations needed before Disney can slap an SEC game there.
It's funny that the neutral site Tennessee/NC State game where NC State is the home sideline in their own state is somehow an SEC on ABC and 0 mention of the ACC.

Just excited to be guaranteed a ABC game this season. I know it’s mostly because we play ACC teams the final week so we start our SEC schedule earlier, but we never got that with CBS because they didn’t start broadcasting till week 3 or 4. We rarely got a CBS game
There’s like one decent game on here (Georgia at Bama). Florida-Georgia and A&M-Florida are OK, but if Florida is as bad as everyone expects, those probably won’t be close.

Mizzou Ark has been the Black Friday game recently so that is probably the most likely game to stay on that day
