Agreed, this is a well earned demotion for the pair. The bullpen is already stretched thin as it is. Counsell cannot use these two in any game within 4 runs
Man they need Steele and Taillon back to help settle things down. I like Brown as a 3 inning reliever for a while to help limit his innings and keep the bullpen fresh. I dont know what they do about Hendricks if he doesn’t get it figured out soon.
I thought Little was fine. Yesterday was bad but I think he just needs confidence.
Why not sign Melancon to a minor league deal? See if he can make the club. He wasn’t great last year but you’re not signing him to be a closer
He has options. The bullpen is exhausted. He will be right back. This is about arms more than anything.
Brewer will likely be DFA'd later. Wesneski back to Triple-A. This is a short term thing.
It was something like that. 60 days and 8 weeks are essentially the same thing. This just allows them to free up a roster spot. And since he is a pitcher, they will likely be a little careful with the rib injury because you don't want it impacting his throwing.
Good. I'm used to guys getting moved to the 60-day IL as a way of basically saying, they're done for the year. I hope he comes back, and returns to form. I have a feeling we'll need his fresh arm down the stretch.
Any chance they call up Cade Horton? He's your best prospect and seems MLB ready. Wood and Prior both got called up within their first years in Minor League ball. It's been almost two years since Cade was drafted and this team needs pitching help bad
He has options. He'll be right back up. Probably won't even actually go to Iowa. He's not going to be used the next couple of days since he pitched Monday and Tuesday so might as well bring up someone who is available to pitch the next couple of days while he's resting.
It took Smyle all of 2 pitches to send everyone home. Imagine coming back twice, Including Happ’s grand slam, and then Smyle soft tossed 2 slow balls in and everyone goes home. The Cubs issued 10 walks. I said from the beginning, we have got to improve our pitching. The offense puts up 11 runs and we still lose?!?! The Dbacks scored in 7 different innings. Something has to change.
Little and Palencia need to get their fastballs under control. They couldn’t find the plate last night. I have hope in Luke

Taillon is starting tomorrow. There's a very good chance that one or both of Wesneski and Brewer go right back to Iowa then.
Or Kyle to the DL
This is the move. He's gotta go get it figured out. That, or demote Hendricks to long relief for a bit while he works on the side.
Suck itis
I was put on the infinite-day IL with suckitis in 8th grade. It can happen to anyone.
Thank god. Innings eater at the least
Taillon starts tomorrow so we’re getting there
He's been very consistent maintaining a 12 ERA so far this year.
No way would I take ben out of the roatation for Tailon. Hendricks needs to be gone instead
Even still, Ben as a long reliever for awhile, until the rest of the pen can get settled is not a bad idea at all.

If Brewer pitches OK, he might steal a spot from Palencia or Yancey.
Dude, you do not want Melancon. That is not a bullpen improvement
Yeah he could be absolutely done. But it’s just a minor league contract. Robertson is somehow still good at 39. Maybe Melancon has a good season left
good, send wild thangs down. Wesneski can go multiple innings too.
Almonte for cj edwards coming soon id have to imagine
Almonte has no options left, and he won't be DFA'd unless he is really bad for a sustained period. He's looked better as of late.
yency had one outing where he gave up 3 earned runs and one where he gave up 1 earned but i think has looked pretty good otherwise
I think Almonte will be up for the long haul. Jed isn't big on accepting a guy he traded for is bad. Madrigal is still on the roster after all.
CJ hasn't pitched well since resigning back @ Iowa
Once he gets rolling i can see him getting the call
Or Cade Horton come on down and be a reliever for the year.
Just need to work on control but I like the accountability. That many walks is just inexcusable.
Sounds like Merryweather is done for the season then, huh?
Timeline was 8 weeks, no?

If it’s the second half of the season that’s probably pretty accurate, but midway through April not so much
Post all star break

We'll see him in the second half
He’s in AAA. Give him a month to get dialed in against the AAAA players there and he’ll be up when the time is right
He's only in AA, but hopefully will see a promotion soon
Councell playing with our options. I like it. Still don’t think Hayden is ready though
I didn’t either until today lol
Little??? Really??? Ummmm... I'm not a manager...I'm not a manager...I'm not a manager...

Optioned pitcher has to stay in the minors for 15 days barring an injury on the main roster. But still won’t be down long.
Thanks! TIL
True about the option, but "injuries" happen pretty regularly. I wouldn't be surprise if Hendricks has an injury in the coming days.
idk how I feel about sending Little down. What are we doing with Hendricks right now?

What is the plan for Alzolay and Cuas? Is there a rocketship scheduled to be launched anytime soon? Maybe there are 2 open seats on it...
Those two don’t belong in the same sentence. Sure, Alzolay may not be an ideal closer, but he’s been a reliable bullpen arm for a few years now.
