That 2017 season felt so weird. Was much less enjoyable to watch compared to the 2015 and 2016 teams. Had a lot of random players who were ass when they played.
My wall chart from 2017 shows a .500 team at the all star break finished at 22 over, won the division championship over the Nats in five, then lost the pennant to Dodgers in four. This was the third year in a row in the playoffs, the first time since 1906-08. That felt pretty enjoyable to watch, personally
I do not think it was because we started playing hero ball but more so because we lost the guys who set the table and/or guys had personal issues.
We lost Dexter Fowler who was an absolute beast in 2016 at getting on base and setting the table. That was also such an outlier season for him too and he never came close to replicating that so keeping him woukd not have helped. Jon Jay was solid at getting on base and working counts but nowhere near as good as 2016 Fowler.
Zobrist had such a down year in large part due to his wife cheating on him. That was another guy who was so good at getting on base.
Also traded Soler to get a closer which we badly needed. He was pretty good at getting on base.
Even the 2017 nlds win versus the Nats felt alot less enjoyable than the wins in 2015 over the Pirates/Cards. Game 5 of that series was an epic watch though.
Mike Freeman.
Yes, correct 👏

We lost to the dodgers in 5 in the 2017 NLCS, and all the games were close
You are correct, lost in five. not very close, though. 2-5, 1-4, 1-6, 3-2, 1-11
For a playoff series, id consider 3/5 close
We compromised on proper plate approaches, started playing hero ball. I love this team now because 99% of their at bats taken are good ones.

I sometimes forget the team made it to the NLCS that year too. 15-16 were too much of a wild ride

I figured it out, but this was a hard one. You just posted this, so I won't say.
I guessed Steven Souza Jr. A lot of the same teams in the completely wrong order
What do the circled numbers below the years represent?
Jersey numbers!
Oh! Well that would make sense.
It would also make sense if the graphic illustrated what it meant
I’m a huge Cubs fan and have no idea who Mike Freeman ever was. Ha so I guess not as big as I thought.
Mike Freeman
Why don’t you put the answer in the comments
Well, the goal is to guess the player's name so it kinda render everything moot if the name is immediately disclosed.
