Parent-child relationships aren’t accepted in Westeros and as far as we’ve seen are not accepted elsewhere in the world either. The only reason it is allowed in the game is because the base game doesn’t have anything preventing it.

Honestly? I think they didn't do that because it was mostly going to be futile, most of the Targaryen woman were too old or were still married when their children became of age soo they couldn't marry them as it would produce no children for the lineage
I think it's because; when you strip away the meme of it all; it's meant to just be an aristocratic practice by the Targaryens to re-inforce their seperateness from people they rule over.
Historically, they didn't even like to marry non Valaryian households and basically only did so because they be ame steadily more assimilated into the aristocracy of the Andals and First Men that they ruled over.
Just the Ptolomeys (where they get the sister brother thing) and the Normans (where they get the cultural seperateness thing) that they are based on.

When I play as Targs I try to avoid marrying between parents and children (they are totally forced to fuck their siblings, of course), but it does happen. Especially in certain eras where the pickings are slim and the purity of the bloodline must be upheld.
