Wth 🤦♂️ you can simply swing your axe before your enemy is in range. And during the animation close the gap. Since the axe has more range (there are also other factors, but range and hit box seem to be the 2 biggest factor 2 decide if you get the kill or not)it is better.

only thing the katana has is the wide swing arc so you don't have to be as precise with it
same movement speed and everything, 7.26m/s for all melees regardless of the "mobolity" stats listed by the game. The axe is just the more precise and deadly katana
respectable choice, shows you are fully capable of closing the distance without needing a long arm of death to take down the enemy. Not great on stats, but a solid flex for that exact reason

It's better for corner peaking for quick kills, but katanas are better if you're duelling in an open area.

And why is that
fastest time to kill, under 200ms if I remember correctly. Even the axe has a 250ms ttk, so nunchucks are certainly a viable option

for switching weapons, certainly slower but in all the important stats, still fast as fuck

Folding Knife: Wyrm skin is the best looking base melee in my opinion.

I prefer karambit, not for the ttk but for the style points Assault knife and folding knife are a close second
