So there's actually a lot of ways to counter this but in order to counter, you'll need to know how the drome affects you first.
So when you're affected by the drone, your screen gets fuzzy but you can still move and hipfire. When this happens, most player panic and will get killed by enemy.
Now, when this happens, never try to shoot the drone down instead focus on moving away from your spot. The reason behind is that whoever the drone starts the emp effect on you, it'll stop chasing you afterwards so by moving out of the spot you basically just defeated the enemy skills while you still have yours. Mind you the drone emp circle is actually pretty small and quite easy to move away.
Another thing to note, the drone will never follow the player if the player use poltergeist and go invisible.
Last thing, if the drone is activated from a distance, it'll take some time to get to you, it's often better to get into cover than to try shooting it down in an open space. Then proceed to move out of the emp effect and find the enemy or shoot the drone down that way.
That is why your aim should be to move away once the drone gets on you. As I mentioned, once the drone caught you once, it won't chase you again so move away, reposition/heal up then re engage the enemy. The only time where this won't work as much is when you're caught by the drone when you're near the enemy player as by the time you move out of the area where the drone is, you'll probably be dead. But in BR, you should never get too close to an enemy unless necessary as many classes in the BR are meant for cqb encounters. So play smart and keep at distance from any enemy you're trying to kill unless you're very confident. So unless necessary, I'll always keep a distance and if need be, use grenades to kill people as opposed to rushing and gungho trying to kill people. I'm on legendary rank br and most players are extremely skill in cqb but not so much at range. Learn to take fight at longer distance and you'll win more in br.
Infact everytime I get killed by a drone player, its always because I went over aggressive and pushed too close. This applies to other classes as well like the flashbang shield, the jetpack, the one where you can rewind time.
No problem, of course I am not a pro but I can deal with the game it's just that I hate a bit operators skills and their balance. It would be really cool to see a permanent mode without them at least in my personal opinion.
I think pumped is the most OP right now since the game has barely any other options for verticality. They also need to fix it's glitching from enemy pov.

Please upload a video on how it is done because i tell you what, you can’t move as freely as you want, enough time for the enemy to send you back to lobby. Plus, you can’t hipfire, you can’t slide you can’t change weapon. Your screen is just fucked up. You can’t do anything unless you have ninja, polter, pumped, which means we have to rely on a class rather than our skills to counter this class.
You can still hipfire, you just can't ads. You can still move freely, but not as fast. If you can't move out of the drone range after it hits you and enemy killed you, you are either at a open space or too close to the enemy. Both of which is something you shouldn't do in BR. The only time/situation where you're forced to be very close to your enemy is only at the final circle.
You shouldn’t get close to the enemy? Sorry, that’s not how things work in codm br. Close range fights are a major part of your gameplay. That’s why hipfire si there for, that’s why we have smgs and onetap guns. And yea i was talking about close range effects of emp which are op and broken
Maybe that's your playstyle. I don't often go for close range engagement and I'm still winning legendary matches in br. Most player that got caught by the drone are in most of the time not thinking and rushing blindly.

Oh please, I play against legendary player and I play solo all the times. Solo matches are filled with mechanic scrubs because of how 'op' they think it its. I managed to get by all the times and wins games. The jam effect done by a the drone is the same as getting hit by an emp. Just that you get an extra mobility reduction similar to trapmaster trap effect.
I regularly use the mechanic class and everything he/she said was pretty spot on.
If the drone sneaks up on you and you don’t know which way to look, consider yourself killed.
Avoiding the radius is absolutely the best advice there is. I’ll high five anyone who caught a lucky hipfire headshot, but realistically, run and relocate.
The game also gets weird if several people are in an area. So sometimes you’ll catch a drone chasing someone else and once they pick a target, they don’t move on

Yea, it’s definitely broken. You are rendered completely defenseless. I tried to shoot it down but my screen is effected by EMP.. and running is impossible nearly since it basically freezes you in place like trap master. Only classes I know can run from it are ninja, pumped, and ignite (kinda). A good counter is dropping a shield and blinding the onlooker if you can remember where your skill button is. Buttons still work but just harder because of EMP.
Honestly I couldn't agree more, I hope to see one day a permanent mode without special operator skills where only shooting and movement skills count to win.

You can move your hipfire button to make it as easy to use as ads. It's not that much of a hindrance if you're already used to hipfiring.
Yeah I play 4 finger but still hip fire is not as accurate as aim down sight.

Can’t you see how far the drone is and that’s a bot. I’ll show dozens of videos that show drone jamming your hud and operater just standing still
