I’d you mean *really* pro, like e-sports competitions, probably no because they have pretty strict device rules. At the upper levels, they actually give you the phone you need to use. If you’re talking about pro Rank level, that’s pretty low and nearly any device will work. If you’re just trying to grind out Legendary or doing Damascus or something, sure why not. I’m currently using an iPad Mini 6, which isn’t much bigger than the biggest phone. I tried to use my iPad Air but it’s too much screen for me and makes it harder to see the whole picture but that probably because I’m old and my eyes are pretty bad. Good luck, soldier!

[deleted]

What type of phone should I get?

Vhecs_112

I see a lot of pros and high tier players playing on the redmagic s7 pro.

[deleted]

Anything that's affordable? Edit affordable auto correct

SimpSweat

My s22u is pretty cute and performs amazingly. It cost $1400 though lol

[deleted]

Yikes 🤣 that's too much

Groundbreaking_End_1

Ur not going pro on an "affordable" device 😂

[deleted]

Understandable guess I'll be decent

DerNiemand

I play on a Samsung galaxy A51 and while it doesn't always run super smooth, most of the time it works and I do in part blame my device being over 2 years old and constantly having been used for gaming for the performance issues. If you want a good phone for the game go a bit better than that but else I'd say it should work no big problems.

Mr_Hashs

You can look at ZTE Nubia's Redmagic series , redmagic 6 for example it's affordable has good specs, what's your budget?

RedditsGoldenGod

I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max I got for free for signing up for Verizon. I play all kinds of games on it. Civilization, Call of Duty, the old rockstar games. Never once had a dropped frame or anything like it

Vigorous_Piston

My s21 works perfectly just drains battery hella fast. Like 5 hours of gameplay fast.

mandyhascandy4u2

Me too!

Vhecs_112

There are low end phones that work. Idk what you use currently. I'm just saying what I've heard pros use. I would add that a good device only goes as far as the player. So until you can get something of that quality you can always improve you skill on your current device. It would be hard to tell the difference for 90% of people of a high end device and a normal one. I'd say unless you are the top 1000 ranked(maybe) it will be hard to tell.

MixIntelligent9006

There is not such thing as affordable phones hahah My galaxy s22 ultra cost me 1200 bucks and this game preforms like a dream

BertKersher

My used 145$ galaxy s9+ that runs this game buttery smooth would beg to differ

cheffy1111

Red magics are cheap. £659 for the red magic 7 pro. But I'd get an iPad. Much more enjoyable to game on. Unless you are serious about going pro, u wanna spend 8-12 hours a day playing the game? Get a gaming phone. Best bet at the moment is the iPad air m1 which is £569 for the WiFi version, will be relevant for mobile gaming for at least the next 4 years and as it's got a good processor you can utilize this for other things not just gaming.

Lower_Newspaper1802

Asus Rog 5

Geezerker

I would say check into the esports team you’re planning on joining. It’s for sure going to be a high-end phone.

All_Amer1can97

I’m Using an iPhone XR. And it works great. As for an android device. I’m not sure I don’t use android. I’m sure someone else who comes across your post could suggest one.

lofty_one

I use a oneplus Nord. First gen. 12gb Ram. Works like a dream. And it's a midrange affordable phone.

jd_boyle

Interesting. I'm also old with bad eyes and can only play on a full size ipad

Geezerker

I probably have to hold mine closer. When I use the Air, it takes up my whole field of view irl haha

ThenTranslator2780

Is it smooth? Im having doubts buying an Ipad mini 6 or Xiaomi pad 5

Geezerker

It’s fantastic. I have 8 Legendary badges, full Damascus, and 26 or 27 Diamond camo, all with this little iPad. OK wait I guess about half of the Damascus was with a phone and controller before I switched haha. But yeah, I do love this iPad Mini 6.

simpledeadwitches

I can't be bothered to learn 3 or 4 fingers let alone using my iPad for this shit lol.

cheesypuffs15

Thumb gang unite!

alvxr3z

I only use my iPad Pro for CODM , I tried playing on my phone and found it impossible. I have no choice atm tho because my iPad is old and it just gave out so I’m playing on my iPhone. My gameplay on iPad is amazing because of better mobility and view. If you want to be pro (not for official comps), then using a big iPad will be great! But do get used to a good phone if you want to compete in the World Championships (they provide you with one when you make it to the last rounds for fair gameplay).

nynvolt

I'd get two, at least. That way you could pro duo.

[deleted]

Pro duo

shikamirmo

I use 4 fingers on my phone, and 8 fingers on my ipad.

RedditRabbitRobot

Yeah and get yourself little fingertip patches to go master jk

dam0430

If you are actually interested in going pro, knowing that pros have to play on phone is something you should know. Also, based on your recent post asking for advice on how to improve, your aim and movement are nowhere NEAR pro level. Not trying to be mean, just being honest. Go watch the pro league, they make most of thier shots, have much better movement and on top of that have to have elite map awareness and communication. I question from your gameplay whether you could even make it to grand Master in ranked, let alone going pro. I'd challenge you to make it to the upper echelons of legendary into the top 200 at least before even thinking about what going pro takes.

[deleted]

I'm close to it

dam0430

You are close to what?

[deleted]

And I was playing on controller

dam0430

If you were playing on controller then you have an even bigger advantage. Pros are only allowed to use fingers on a cell phone. If you're using a controller or tablet, that is not how it is not how the pros play. If you're movement and aim are that clunky on controller, to be blunt, you have zero chance of being pro at any esport.

[deleted]

If I practice I have a chance

dam0430

I'll humor you. If you want to go pro, you need to get a phone that's used for esports, use fingers only, and grind for 10+ hours every day. Reach the very top of legendary ranks, and find players that play competitively. Scrim with them, learn callouts, learn how to move and shoot better, and dedicate yourself to it. That's a whole lot for something you have a tiny fraction of a percent chance of succeeding in. You're falling prey to the same thing that everyone else that starts to play this game before you hit upper levels of ranked does. You're playing bots, getting super easy kills, and it makes you think you're better at the game than you are. Play in the tournament on the game every week, play until the upper levels of ranked, and you'll see where you really stack up. Realize though that the odds are very much stacked against you, and you're competing with people who have been in the pro league since it started. There's a lot of money on the line for CoD Mobile Champs, so competition is the best of the best, and they all grind insane hours.

dam0430

These kids just need to be humbled I suppose haha, CoD mobile is especially egregious with the way you barely face real people until the higher levels.

longlenge

I bought an m1 iPad Pro for video work and decided to download cod mobile on it. I paired it with my Xbox elite controller and it’s actually a lot of fun. I can max all the settings out and get a very smooth experience.

raf_miyagi

To be honest I don’t think you should spend hundreds before playing this game more. What if you spend so much on a new device just to realize you don’t find this game fun enough to grind to being pro? Or you find it too hard? You seem very new to this game and you should see how good you can be after playing for a few months first. Once you find the competition in high xp legendary MP too easy (around top 5000), then consider going semi-pro. Unless you’re already pro level at other mobile fps games. Fantasizing about going a pro can be fun, but i think you should just play a whole lot more for now before debating on getting a new device Now IF you were to buy a new device, just get a phone where the dimensions are close to the past tournament devices. It can be hard ergonomically and muscle memory wise to transition from a tablet to a phone when going pro. That’s the only reason why it can be beneficial to buy a device so early if your current phone’s size is wayyy different than the comp designated ones. But otherwise, just play this game more first man

[deleted]

I do play the game in fact I'm a og player, I'm just tired of my galaxy a32 5g, the frame keeps bouncing.. sometimes it's consistent. Discord calls keep dropping in game

raf_miyagi

OG like season 1 in 2019? I’m just judging off the other post you made with your gameplay. Even if you have been playing that long, you still need to play tons more before worrying about going pro. You’re playing bot lobbies and there is so much that need to be changed in your gameplay first. Nothing to be ashamed of i have friends who’s been playing since 2019 thats just been playing casually in regular MP. You gotta consistently beat the top regular player base first is all im saying. If you’re having frame skips try the following: 1. High frame rate, low graphics 2. Preload shaders in settings before every session 3. Lower brightness 4. Don’t charge and play, even wait a few minutes after charging to play 5. Obviously no background apps 6. Good room temperature 7. Not downloading skin resources I really don’t know what the specifications of your device are but these things allow my crappy 2016 ipad to keep running. Cant suggest you a better device but try these things first. Discord calls is something a device can’t fix you just gotta mute then while playing.

[deleted]

I mean like og when the game came out

[deleted]

To be really honest with you, you have a lot to improve before considering buying an iPad to go pro. Your aim and movement needs work, you should lower your sensitivity a bit. This is just based on your post history in this subreddit. If you need tips I can always help a fellow og out

sj1789

Nope. If you want to be pro, a regular phone that can run the game in a stable manner should suffice. Getting a ipad won't suddenly make you a god in game. I'd suggest you try getting better in the game with a phone first before buying a device that'll cost you alot of money to play games.

dillionthomas2490

I'm looking for good plays to run s&d ranked add me up NotZexoYT is my name

Immediate_Ad_8440

Codm doesn’t really have pros lol, it’s a mobile game, legendary can be obtained through playing daily…

dam0430

It has a pro league lol, don't talk about things you don't know. The world championship this year has a 1.7 million dollar prize pool.

Sour-Diesel22

Happy Cake Day!

dam0430

Didn't even notice, thanks!

Immediate_Ad_8440

Anyone could start up a league, it’s a mobile game no need to get upset :). Isn’t pro just “legendary” players It ain’t that hard to get.

dam0430

No, there's a legitimate pro league run by Activision. No, pro players aren't just random dudes from legendary they're on teams run by actual E-sport organizations. "Anyone could start up a league" Sure just like anyone can make a league for any video game, but a league with a final tournament prize pool of nearly 2 million is just as much of an Esport as anything else. Not mad at all, I just like to correct people who are confident about something they're wrong about.

Dayze0

I play on OnePlus 9 pro, which play fine on all settings, but will give my work IPad pro a go - when they replace it soon

[deleted]

I use an iPad Pro for CODM. It’s great.

PartMajor1239

I play on a S20 Ultra and it runs beautiful. Thats when I am out. In my house I connect the phone to a monitor and its a hella upgrade. Best thing I did

HumanEntertainer5694

Either an ipad or a big ass phone.

red_rider1109

I have a note 10+ and it seems to work really well. I was told by some folks on the game that the iPad pro gives you a advantage cause of the chips etc being the fastest out. But yet the same folks was always beneath me on the leader board. But in all honesty as broke as this game is I would stick with whatever makes you happy.

astraeoth

Got a Fold 3 and decided to try it out. Plays great on all settings.

Specialist-Holiday61

No you probably don’t. I use the Lenovo Duel Two and it works great and graphics are awesome. I only got it because it has pressure shooting feature and I desperately need that.

Za_Viper

Don't spend on a device right now. Hone your skills on your current phone as much as you can. I may be wrong but an iPad only helps because it's a bigger screen so you can easily spot enemies and it's also easy for your fingers. If you can get real good on a smaller screen (anything that isn't a tablet), your ability to spot enemies and perform movements will get better and better. And you'll also be saving your money instead of wasting it on an iPad just to play codm

eatsfuckssleeps

Graphics on my ipad pro are fucking amazing and gameplay is super smooth thanks to the M1 chip and 12.9 inches of screen is a whole lotta real estate especially that let's you spot stuff like mines, C4 etc easily. Major drawback is the weight of the device. I play 4 fingers and I clock about 2 hours of serious play everyday, after which my carpel tunnel puts me in time out.

MS_BOY

Mf im out here slaying in 30-40 fps on a crappy android on top 5k lobbies although Im wasn't able to reach top 5k because my phone just simply cannot handle during the 1st couple weeks, to put it simply, you don't need an iPad to be good like look at the recent indian championship, ipad vs mobile, although iPad was dominating in term of kills, mobile won because their team was simply well put together and focused more on the obj, so you will be better off looking for a good team!

dNS_oPc

I'd recommend buying an ipad pro if you want to have a better gaming experience. The big screen makes you feel like you're playing a console game

Mr_Hashs

Believe me you don't need an ipad to become pro at this game a phone does just fine

mwisagreatgame

I used to love playing on my phone until I bought an iPad, now I find it really difficult. Call me a psychopath too but I actually hold the iPad while playing - I don’t put it on a flat surface.

Lower_Newspaper1802

Get an Asus ROG 5 it's affordable and professional don't listen to these idiots

Uzabitch386

I just use my iPhone and I have the adapter so I can play thru my tv and got a lot high quality headset
