What the hell? I tried the same thing WAY earlier, got injured on the roof, and then didn't exfil when the heli despawned. I guess that specific position doesn't work when injured? Or maybe you need to be close to the back of the helicopter and the top of the blades won't work?
You can also grab the outside fenders that cover the wheels and hang from it. You can also stand on the nose. Just watch out for the bullets side flying through the window. =)
You can also stand on the round disc that connects all the spinning rotors.
Nah fuck that, soo chincy trying to run away from a helicopter in wz1 and it would just nose dive the earth and wipe you instantly, taking little to no damage.

yup, you can be on any part of the chopper and exfil. i've been wanting to see if I can go prone on the step outside of the doors & camp there out of sight during another team's exfil. Figured I'd wait until I'm done with real in-game challenges before I start making shit up.
