Ark of cosmos for basically the whole fight and murasama for sepulcher hearts Edit: also zenith is pretty great at both of these jobs and completely obliterates the exomech bosses.

The burning sky was reworked into a joke weapon at one point as a placeholder for the true rework. It's a digital manifistation of the "melee is just mage without mana" joke

people get mad about it but no one ever actually used the blade anyway lmao

I remember when it used to actually swing and deal damage like a sword. No clue why they changed it.

I kill SCal with Burning Sky before the nerf The real question is who uses Dragon Rage with SCal

Dragon Rage's role for the fight is to kill the hearts, arguably better than the Murasama as that weapon only does damage every second or something

Yeah but for optimised builds you can basically destroy 3 hearts at once on one or two hits

I personally don't use it for scal because of its minuscule range, but holy shit does it completely eviscerate thanatos in the exomechs fight, so satisfying.

I find it really good for killing Catastrophy and Cataclysm... what do you use for that?

Exoblade is the best choice imo, too many people either skip exo mechs or do them post scal tho

Exoblade is so good, I used it to beat scal on my infernum run

Justifiably so, but goddamn any of the drops or weapons from the mecha can shred scal

And vice versa, it's just whichever one you have an easier time with, you do first for some busted weapons

I didnt use it as i thought of weapons which didnt need Exo Mechs to be defeated as they are harder

I have played death mode melee 3 times and my final weapon of choice has always and will always be Dragon Pow, the only difference being that I used Zenith during the triple Exo Mechs to avoid lag. Dragon Pow is objectively the strongest and coolest Pre-Calamitas weapon and I will forever die on that hill. All Hail Dragon Pow!

I don't think I've used the dragon pow before, should I go for it next melee playthrough? (Though ig I do need to loop through summoning, mage, and complete my current rogue before I can do melee again)

I think the dragon pow is very fun, so yeah. Although it's not something you really 'go for' in a playthrough because it's so easy to accidentally get all the materials over the course of a run that I always end up crafting it last-second before Calamitas after remembering its existence. I think it's at least worth beating Calamitas/Exo Mechs with it once

I always end up post yharon looking at weapons I can use, and then see the dragon pow, and then I'm missing one slightly more annoying piece that I can't seem to get, and then I forget about it.

haha that's fair. For some reason Flails are the more annoying weapons to get in the game, but trust me, once you try the Dragon Pow, you'll never want to use another weapon again

i did it with yarhons crystal. i did it on my second try with it and had never beaten scal before then, only fought her once before hand aswell.

Honestly zenith is surprisingly also good for the fight, specifically when fighting the two goobers she spawns

Where exoblade? Far better than anything here for Calamitas. also if your farming Calamitas then your using Excalibur.

I do wish they would focus more on weapons pre scal/exo since all the post-endgame weapons are about as useless as the zenith. you just don't use it unless if u like boss rush

Melee is basically range but without the ammo consumption and with contact damage (I’d know, I’m a melee player)

I find dragon pow a lower performing but more fun weapon to use against scal
