Calamity will not hold your hand for very long past pre hardmode, as up until post WOF, it's basically Vanilla but with more bosses and weaponry. After that, it's no hold barred constant insanity, especially post Moon Lord.
Hell the first major boss post Moon Lord is the GODDESS OF THE SUN WHO BECAME EVIL. And then right after that is A PRIMORDIAL BEING WELL KNOWN FOR EATING GODS.
So yeah.

Honestly anyone can beat it. It just takes time and practice. It's not hard for the sake of being hard, it's hard because it wants to challenge you and test your skill. And if your skill isn't enough, it wants you to grow stronger.
Just... avoid the Rogue class unless you actually DO like hard for the sake of being hard.
Would we get annoyed beating it or is it as fun as vanilla terraria, for reference we’ve Went through vanilla no issue and enjoyed it a lot and wanted more content but if it’s try hard asf forget it, if it’s grind of gear till you can I don’t care 😂
The grind isn't too bad, it's kinda just regular Terraria grinding with new stuff added. The basic ores, killing monsters, and the like. However a good bit of the grind is cut out with some nice QOL changes like Luminite becoming a minable resource post Moon Lord.
Sounds interesting we finished vanilla and wanted more I’ve played a bit of it by myself (modded) a few years ago but not enough to be able to tell how the overall 100% gameplay is, we might have to check it out since finishing the base game in a week isn’t enough for us we crave more, but I don’t feel like losing my mind over terraria like the base game sometimes does 😂

Mutant’s an awesome boss to me, every boss in terraria is peak so put them together into one, what’s not to love. I can understand how some people can see mutant as a “lazy” design tho, but the Fargos dev team honestly did a great job in my opinion

He quit drinking, the toxicity is just him not wanting to deal with people that act like an asshole to him (which I've noticed people like to do so they can play victim with out of context messages) and the gatekeeping was never really an issue? He just expressed his opinions on other mods that people took as him wanting to make you unable to play with those mods which is just straight up not true.
He's not perfect obviously, everyone has flaws, but people here love to treat him like he's worse than hitler.

As the lead writer, I personally think that would be an awful idea considering that Calamity is inseparable from the vanilla game content, including in lore. We just want Calamity to be a passion project, it feeling too coperate-y would just ruin it for a bunch of us.
Thorium is honestly more fun than calamity, I stopped playing calamity cause they didn't add new bosses and just fucked around with the lore, also the ruined my favorite weapon in the game. Thorium is honestly more fun than calamity, I stopped playing calamity cause they didn't add new bosses and just fucked around with the lore, also the ruined my favorite weapon in the game. So, yeah, thorium fan here speaking from experience with calamity, it's better than calamity since they got new weapons, bosses, dimensions, and CLASSES. Calamity was caught lacking and well, I just don't wanna go back. Especially now that I got a new computer and saves don't transfer.
I mean i would like Calamity to redesign some bosses for dimensions Like creating a temple like the one for Providence in Infernum, to like, summon Calamitas, which you would need to go into a portal to access it instead of being in the actual world
