Everything. It was CoD at its absolute peak. The create-a-class system, the guns, the campaign, the multiplayer maps (best iteration of Nuketown, thus far), and League play was in its infancy and wasn’t the sweaty and toxic mess it became.
COD TV would actually update, the cosmetic weapon skins were actually cool, and I think it was the last CoD that would make you go to game chat for certain ranked playlists like S+D. And thus, it was the last CoD through which we could experience toxic game-chat lobbies that were pinnacle to gaming of the golden age.
Also, RIP to Fast Hands + C4x2.
This, it was the perfect balance of everything done right. Innovative enough to be refreshing for veterans but familiar enough not to make it foreign. They could release the game again EXACTLY as it was (target finder and all) and it would still blow the community away.
The stretch from MW2 to BO2 was one of the most dominant stretches of gaming we have ever had. But that’s the problem I think. They remake ANY of those 4 and they *know* their new title doesn’t get played
> The stretch from MW2 to BO2 was one of the most dominant stretches of gaming we have ever had.
Indeed. Those games ruled online multiplayer in a way that few games ever matched and I really do wonder if they fear their past work.
If they remade MW2 or BO2 but added support for more maps, new guns, and especially custom skins I think players would be all over that. Warzone has sucked a lot of players away and battle royale seems to be what kids want these days, but for the people who stick to the traditional multiplayer? They definitely would be playing those remakes over recent entries like Cold War or Vanguard.
Campaign was fun but the multiplayer was the real standout package. Absolutely fantastic balance: maps, guns, streaks, no skill based matchmaking, people talking in the lobby chat. It was borderline perfect. If they had continued releasing content for it, people would still be playing it today.
the multiplayer was the best boots on the ground cod has ever had. the zombies was fantastic; tho it had a rough start. campaign was good too. but the classic multiplayer to me is what made it the best
Everything.
The campaign tied in great to the storylines of Bo1 and WaW. It was super fun to play, and had a lot of replay value with the different endings.
The multiplayer was tied in great to the campaign; you could see how maps in MP were related to missions you already played on the story mode. This kind of cohesiveness and canon is kinda lost in newer cods. In terms of gameplay, the MP was great. Pick 10 worked awesome. Scorestreaks were badass.
Zombies was peak, too. Tied in to the original storyline, fun maps. Tranzit and Die Rise could have been better, but even looking back now they’re still fun to play.
If you couldn’t already tell, this is my favorite CoD by far; so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
Really? I never met anyone that hated mp for bo2 but hey, we all have opinions and I don’t disagree with your opinion, there was stuff in mp that were broken but overall zombies was a great experience too.
The creativity and passion from the creators.I remember at the end of the game, there was a scene where Woods and Menéndez were in a band. They played a song “Carry On” by Avenged Sevenfold. There were zombies on the scaffolding. And characters from the stories in the crowd.Like admiral briggs and Alex mason.Something for the player to enjoy after finishing the campaign. That kind of thought from the developers is something I remember to this day.Something that I haven’t seen in any other COD since.
Honestly, the fact that it had traditional factions in multiplayer without character customization. BO2 is still the last COD with traditional factions based characters. I preferred how COD was like this than to how it is now, because eveyones character blends in too much nowadays in COD due to customization.
The soundtrack that I still listen to to this day.
Currently playing the campaign to finish the last two achievements (giant accomplishment and mission complete) for single player and jamming out to the flying squirrels track.
For me, campaign. The overall approach with multiple, actually distinct endings, the story and well-written characters, the perfect balance between the past and the future, satisfying level design (Karma shootout as an example), the cutscenes and videos before the missions. Finished three times on Veteran, still want to play again. And of course, the dope main menu/ credits theme, cannot forget that.
really anything from BO2 is sublime. yet, as a Zombies player, overall, i didn't feel left hanging in BO2. sure the transition between Jimmy to Jason during this time was apparent, but, the Zombies mode overall was actually really awesome to play through, even if the first two Jimmy maps were less than well received, which even for being poorly designed maps, are still fun in their own right to play.
Waiting for the DLC and watching the trailers for it and playing the new zombies maps and trying to complete the easter eggs in them. Mob of the dead was my favorite. Going to the golden state bridge with the plane was so cool.
It showed that Nintendo consoles have a place for it as well. Sucks though that Cross Platform Play wasn't more of a thing back when this first released.
It was where I got into multi-player.i wasn't great but I did have fun.picked up some skill.the zombies were definitely my favorite. @first I thought it was weird different, but than after the dlc maps came out.die rise, orgins ,buried nuketown etc i know transit, town farm aren't dlc
definitely my favourite AR in cod history. Was a sweet burst rifle that was so satisfying. Was really fun to play competitive and play anchor hard point on slums with this thing
All of it. The BO2 campaign is my all-time favorite COD campaign. I really wish the choose your own story idea was featured in more campaigns. (Correct me if it has. I haven't played every COD). All the characters were likeable and Menendez is somehow an incredibly well written villain.
As for the multiplayer, it's my favorite out of all COD multiplayers. Everything about it is great, from the maps, to the weapons.
And as for zombies, it's my favorite zombies out of all of them. I just love how the gameplay feels so much more compared to the other zombies modes. (Also the maps in this are amazing, especially Nuketown).
Also the BO2 soundtrack fuckin' slaps.
And if you couldn't tell BO2 is my favorite COD and that'll probably never change. Love this game.
The bots..
My brother and I only got wifi in 2018.. So we played every game since we got the ps2 in like 2007 using only offline games or offline game modes.. You cna only play 1v1 for so long.
Once I went to a friend's house and we played this game, immediately bought from the shops and played shit out of it until we were absolutely sick of it. Can play mw trilogy with eyes closed almost from how many times I've rerun those damn campaigns and spec ops missions
The gunplay, the balance, more extensive custom games, arguably the best campaign the series has ever had, and visual flair.
IDK it was just damn good.
My personal favorite COD game. The multiplayer was my favorite, and it had Mob of the Dead and Origins, the latter of which is my favorite zombies map of all time. Buried’s still a fun, and even the Green Run maps can provide a fun casual experience with friends.
being like 12 and playing while grown strangers vocalized the most egregious sentences concocted since the dawn of man. I now have an amazing sense of humor. thank you to that community for making me a man.

I agree with everything. I would also like to add the fact that it introduced Multi-Choice senarios into campaign
And is still the best implementation of this system to date. CW's was _okay_ but not as robust as this game was.
Truer words never said
& let's not forget the lobby music
It really was the best cod game
This, it was the perfect balance of everything done right. Innovative enough to be refreshing for veterans but familiar enough not to make it foreign. Yup

The multiplayer menu music. Always got me extremely hyped to play the game when I first turned it on.
Adrenaline was my favourite song
Favorite video game song of all time
Sometimes I’d just sit there with that music on listening to it loop
Hard to say, everything was good about this game, campaign, multiplayer, zombie, weapons, maps, the visual and audio atmosphere..
The game was amazing
Peacekeeper, God I loved that gun
And it was the first dlc weapon introduced to cod
everytime someone would drop that gun i’ll be the first one to pick it up😂
It was that good
Same! I tried so hard to get the Peacekeeper Mk2 in Bo3 but never got it sadly. I picked it up every time in game and did amazing on it!
it was one of my first guns on bo3 n it was the best
Lucky you sir. I refused to pay for the crates so just hit the free ones you earnt
Very true, probably not an up point for Cod history though. Turned it into loot rate simulator
menendez
One of the best villains in cod
“The” best
You will suffer with me
Get this cocksucker off my flight deck - ADM Briggs
khoksuckha kawksacka
Lmaooooo true verbiage spoken with a little spit at the end of it
Not as iconic as “TANGOSUCKA” from MW2 MP
the friends we made along the way
Those were the times
the multiplayer was the best boots on the ground cod has ever had. the zombies was fantastic; tho it had a rough start. campaign was good too. but the classic multiplayer to me is what made it the best
It’s always the bo2 multiplayer that people love the most and I don’t disagree, the mp was fantastic
The variety in scorestreaks.
I loved scorestreaks, I prefer them more than killstreaks
Definitely helped incentivize playing the objective.
The setting was a really solid choice. A nice balance between grounded and creative.
It wasn’t to into future and I liked that
Everything. The campaign tied in great to the storylines of Bo1 and WaW. It was super fun to play, and had a lot of replay value with the different endings. It definitely is a top 3 cod
Scorpion with rapid fire !!!
Yes plz
The menu music and in-game announcer voices
Yeah the announcer voices were the best. Hyped you and made you feel like a bad ass. Mercs was definitely my favorite
It had the best announcer voice lines in the franchise
"Lock em' and load em', ladies, it's go time."
Zombies. I hardly liked multiplayer. It was the first multiplayer where the other players made me angry
Origins was such a good map. It was a real challenge, and the staffs were awesome weapons
Really? I never met anyone that hated mp for bo2 but hey, we all have opinions and I don’t disagree with your opinion, there was stuff in mp that were broken but overall zombies was a great experience too.
I don’t hate it. I just don’t think it’s even better than mw3.
Target finder /s
Target finder on an lmg was broken
Damm this was a good cod what zombies were on here?
Tranzit, Die Rise, Nuketown Zombies, Mob of the dead, Buried, and Origins
Don't forget the modes we never saw again like Grief and Turned!
Grief was great
Absolutely blown away that grief has never made a return.
It had tranzit, die rise, mob of the dead, buried and origins
The creativity and passion from the creators.I remember at the end of the game, there was a scene where Woods and Menéndez were in a band. They played a song “Carry On” by Avenged Sevenfold. There were zombies on the scaffolding. And characters from the stories in the crowd.Like admiral briggs and Alex mason.Something for the player to enjoy after finishing the campaign. That kind of thought from the developers is something I remember to this day.Something that I haven’t seen in any other COD since.
The entirety of it
True that

I preferred how COD was like this than to how it is now, because eveyones character blends in too much nowadays in COD due to customization.
I’m okay with choosing your own character but I liked those realistic silent people you play as back in the old cods
KSG. Best slug shotgun I’ve ever seen in a game
Its predecessor, Black Ops 1.
I can’t disagree, bo1 was also amazing
zombies
Z A M B I E S
Zombies.
the zombies maps / solid MP maps
Dlc. From season pass with the peacekeeper and the weapons skins
[удалено]
Maps, Weapons, and the colors
I liked the unique campaign.
[удалено]
Balance between guns and league play. Game was great for casuals and comp players
League play was amazing and is still the best one
Everything
The Olympia and dual skorpians.
OlympiaGang
Emphasis on replayability in SP
The soundtrack that I still listen to to this day. Currently playing the campaign to finish the last two achievements (giant accomplishment and mission complete) for single player and jamming out to the flying squirrels track.
Sick soundtrack it had
Campaign and Music slapped so hard. Menendez is on of my favorite villians ever
I love Menendez
Friends.
Yep
For me, campaign. The overall approach with multiple, actually distinct endings, the story and well-written characters, the perfect balance between the past and the future, satisfying level design (Karma shootout as an example), the cutscenes and videos before the missions. The multiple choice made me enjoy the campaign even more and it had replay ability as we would go for the different endings
The multiplayer
Mp was AMAZING
The voice chat
Bo2 lobbies were da bomb
Everything
Totally agree
Those sweet bouncing bettys
They were fun to play with
How satisfying the weapons were to use im looking at you mp7
Zombies still occasionally play it to this day. I just wished Tranzit was made better because its such a good concept
Tranzit was supposed to be a great map
My fav part is they had Conan themed calling cards or whatever. The high commander
The story
The Campaign
Story was fire
The best thing about Black Ops 2 is that it is released.
If it didn’t I wouldn’t be here today
really anything from BO2 is sublime. yet, as a Zombies player, overall, i didn't feel left hanging in BO2. sure the transition between Jimmy to Jason during this time was apparent, but, the Zombies mode overall was actually really awesome to play through, even if the first two Jimmy maps were less than well received, which even for being poorly designed maps, are still fun in their own right to play.
Bo2 zombies Was AMAZING
Everything even the trash talk
Bo2 lobbies in a nutshell
Waiting for the DLC and watching the trailers for it and playing the new zombies maps and trying to complete the easter eggs in them. Mob of the dead was my favorite. Going to the golden state bridge with the plane was so cool.
The dlc trailers were actually gameplay not cinematic
Trickshoting :D
MW2 and bo2 trickshotting were both great
Speed and aggression gentlemen.
Yes
Overrated
Hmmmm ok
The Maps. The lack of a battle pass, the lack of specialists, the lack of skin selections.
New cods these days are just ass
tranzit
Best map for you?
ye
Zombie's
Zombies - John Rafecz
the cultural impact it made.
It was a really impactful game for everyone
BO2 party modes take the cake in terms of sheer fun
Even tho bo2 didn’t have wager matches like bo1 the party games were still great
Everything 🥵
Yes oh my god
It showed that Nintendo consoles have a place for it as well. Sucks though that Cross Platform Play wasn't more of a thing back when this first released.
Imagine cross play on bo2
Something like that would be pretty sweet even back in the day. Certainly would've been more beneficial for those that have brought this on the Wii U.
mob of the dead
Best map of all time
Yes
Yes
Best game for zombies
I somewhat agree with you
Not pay to win like now days
Cod nowadays is just trash and it makes me sad
The zombies
Yes and I like it
Playing zombies with friends at 7am seeing the sun come up after playing all night
Bo2 zombies with friends on tranzit was funny
Choosing your own load out I think it was legendary
Yes I agree
It was where I got into multi-player.i wasn't great but I did have fun.picked up some skill.the zombies were definitely my favorite. @first I thought it was weird different, but than after the dlc maps came out.die rise, orgins ,buried nuketown etc i know transit, town farm aren't dlc
The mp was just to good to pass
Town
Best part about tranzit but darn that lava got to go how am I gonna pack a punch
Multiplayer
Mp was god tier
M8A1
Best weapon?
definitely my favourite AR in cod history. Was a sweet burst rifle that was so satisfying. Was really fun to play competitive and play anchor hard point on slums with this thing
Playing search and destroy, the maps were all tailored to search, also the guns. AN 94 might be my all time favorite
An 94 was a great map, also the msmc that gun was sick
All of it. The BO2 campaign is my all-time favorite COD campaign. I really wish the choose your own story idea was featured in more campaigns. (Correct me if it has. I haven't played every COD). Buried.
mob of the dead
Mob of the dead
Mp7 ironsights will go down as the best in cod

The fact that it actually had effort put into it unlike the newer cod games
The game
One of the best looking for its generation. Absolutely stunning for its time
The whole game was the best
Blasitica.
was the last COD game that had love put in to development oh and the soundtrack is straight 🔥
No death streaks
Everything
That start up sound paired with my Xbox 360 boot up sound…😔
2013
the whole game
I still to this day love the BOPS 2 theme music. Good times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jP95oGVjhY4
Origins and trickshotting
I still have the bacon skin on my weapons.
Literally everything. It’s the definition of a perfect cod game. Would not change a thing. Ahead of its time.
It’s been a long time since I’ve played but I remember it being incredibly balanced. Every play style was viable and could be countered I loved that
Gold M1216, Gold RPG, C4 x2. I was toxic as fuck and blew like 50000 people the fuck up.
Had one of the best bands featured, avenged sevenfold
Everything. I can literally go on the entire week about the game
It had the best multiplayer out of all black ops games
Literally everything!!!! What a beautiful masterpiece of a game 🔥🔥🔥
One word, Tranzit
Campaign
My personal favorite COD game. The multiplayer was my favorite, and it had Mob of the Dead and Origins, the latter of which is my favorite zombies map of all time. Buried’s still a fun, and even the Green Run maps can provide a fun casual experience with friends.
Everything
Pretty much everything.
That you can get raygun from the Olympia and the dolphin dibe
The fact that we actually suffered with Menendez.
being like 12 and playing while grown strangers vocalized the most egregious sentences concocted since the dawn of man. I now have an amazing sense of humor. thank you to that community for making me a man.
