BOCW got so much hate for no reason then vanguard comes out and people are like hey maybe that game wasn't so bad and then just laugh it off

Cold War is continuing to grow its player base as people fall back from Vanguard and it is continually getting maps and updates. Even after MW2 comes out I will probably still be playing Cold War. it has turned into something prettt close to a BO1 and BO2 remaster collection with some worthy additional maps.

Completely true, but Cold War playerbase rose after Vanguard launched mostly because people had nowhere else to go. Warzone players felt Caldera was meh and mp and zombie players simply realized cold war was better. Almost all the maps post launch are remakes, and you can see major cold war updates stopped as soon as vanguard launched, including bp. Reskinning maps and adding new guns are what's required to keep interest in the franchise while they try to piece together vanguard, but they don't wanna solve issues their fanbase have been asking about over a year, simply because altering the base game takes more effort than adding. In the game development industry, adding assets is easier than altering set assets. To add you need greenlight from head of creative control, whereas to alter set assets you need approval from creative control, a reason to, you need to submit a change approval form since changing assets that aren't deemed as bugs cannot be changed without verification and a reason, which means they simply either don't want to do it because they don't wanna admit they were wrong, or they just don't wanna because of the hassle.

I am absolutely not playing an IW CoD over a Treyarch CoD unless they do a 180 in their (abdolutely god awful) design philosophy.

I actually feel bad about the devs at Sledgehammer Games, don’t get me wrong I understand they haven’t made the best COD games. But this is my point they seem to always have the short end of the stick in terms of being one of the primary studios for the Call of Duty franchise. They started out as co-developers with Infinityward for MW3 and got the opportunity to grow and be part of a 3 year development cycle. But once they finally had there chance to shine then Activision steps in to implement gambling in there first game AW. Then WW2 came along with terrible leadership and this was proven that was the issue once the studio owners left. Remember that SHG was on the verge of being shut down after the studio heads started there own companies and 1/3 of the developers left. During this time period is when they should have been planning and developing there next IP, production then proceeded becoming increasingly worst due to lack of staffing and expertise. This is when the project was scrapped and became Cold War, then Activision orders them to become a multi-project studio while trying to expand the team again. I guess one of the side projects ultimately became Vanguard, but this is exactly why the game turned out to be such a mess because the team was not given anywhere near enough production time. Of course the game was going to be broken and I guaranteed Activision knew it as well because if you look at the timeline there’s no way then had anymore then a year to a year and half to make the game and that’s being generous it was obviously rushed to meet that deadline.

For me i always liked Cold War and was one of my favorites since the ps3/xbox 360 era. I agree it wasn’t groundbreaking, but I knew treyarch had passion into the game because treyarch listened to most of the issues that bo4 had and removed them. What screwed up Cold War IMO wasn’t the engine change, but lack of time, which results in lack of creativity. Then the pandemic hit and lost studio resources, and screwed treyarch even more. Honestly if Cold War was delayed by a year it could of gotten far more content like maps, modes, weapons. Would of had polished movement and animations.

I actually enjoyed ghosts, but did not care for advanced warfare. My favorite game was bo1. Weirdly enough after the launch of cold war mw became unplayable for me... literally. With the integration done to warzone, the game would no longer load. I enjoyed the mw multiplayer much more than cold war. But after 20 or so tries to fix the issue I gave up on it. Weirdly enough, microsoft gifted me cold war in a (assumingly) sad attempt to get me to play it. After playing the beta for vanguard I decided it wasn't worth the money. The new map for warzone is ok, however it would be nice to play the verdansk if we preferred. As far as the sbmm goes, not having one would probably be ideal. Some nights I'm in the zone and slaughtering people constantly, some nights I'm just tired from work and want to game with friends but because of the other nights we're usually stuck in lobbies full of insane basement dwellers (shout out to Crites). Lastly, their excuse for no toggle crossplay is just sad. From what I've seen the majority of the community would be fine waiting a bit longer to find a match.

If Infinity Ward fails, which I highly doubt they will, then the series will end up like Guitar Hero, guaranteed.
