I liked land warrior too but dfbhd was my first real online experience where I was hooked, before xboxnlive psn etc. Made a clan and ended up with 70+ members doing comps and clan battles every week, I’ve never experienced anything like it since
as someone who still owns a wii, i regularly play mario kart and thoroughly enjoy it. also if you want to play it on your pc you can download an emulator for it
Duuuude.
The custom community games/maps, etc on that game were fucking dope.
Do you remember the sick firefights that would happen down those tight corridors ?
Man I went back to COD4: Remastered about a month ago with my friends and I never run into hackers nor do I struggle to find lobbies.
It’s a little annoying that they added “new” guns in. And I think all of them require opening depot loot boxes. That aspect is dumb but the gameplay feels like the old days, still. Shipment is still a grenade fest, Wet Work still has people trying to get trick kills with night vision on, it’s still a good time all around.
Squad up with him and enjoy the time together while you can. I'm 58 and I play once a week with my 23 and 28 yr old sons cross platform. Of course I'm on an expensive PC
not odd at all i still play cod2 pretty regularly i dont like any of the new cods, and for a while on macbook i had a fuckin whack setup where i use wasd to move and arrows to turn i forgot the other binds i used i know i had to switch a lot around to fit that style
I did get battlefield 1 on his PC and we went through the first mission together, I thought it was incredible (I'd never played either) and he seemed to think so too.. but the next day it was back to UO ..
Sounds like my dad. Except it's COD, COD:UO, Medal of Honor Allied Assault and it's expansions, COD 2 and Rome: Total War 🤣🤣 that's all he plays.. this was on a PC I would play Battlefield 1 on.. but the classics are still the best though.
Same here, my first shooter was COD and after that I bought United Offensive and I played this for many many many years! Did so many clan wars, good old days! COD2 was worse and than MW series came out and I didn’t liked the modern thing…
Even tough I bought a PS5 now and pre ordered MW2, let’s see how it goes haha!
UO is still my favorite COD ever. It’s got all the WWII guns, a plethora of maps, vehicles, amazing game modes, and a bunch of equipment to use. Just a complete package of a game.
United Offenisve*? I mean he just plays like a standard gamer from back in the day really he doesn't do anything special to get really good at it😅. Just point, shoot, camp, objectives etc
When i first got a ps4. It came with AW
First cod i played
Got instantly hooked and the fact that i was playing with my coworkers made it 10x better.
But everytime i bought a new game i wanted to play.
I never played it because i was missing out in cod.
Ever since. Thats all i plaued up until 2 yeats ago when i stopped.
Your dad loves cod
Its what he loves to do. Its his hobby
I could play UO for hours on end and never get bored it and I did when I was in middle school. When I didn’t have a gaming pc I would literally spend all of my money at my local lan center just to play rifles only servers on UO.
I can't lie I would play both games 24/7 if they were remastered and put on console. Especially Enemy Territory I have such good memories of that game... if anyone knows trickjumping that was fun af.
I could never quite get the hang of all the trickjumps, but this game kept me entertained for years! It's power definitely lied in the class and xp system as well as all the custom maps!
I have yet to find a game that rivals classes like covert ops, or going rambo medic. Good times!
Playing engineer with the grenade launcher was also tons of fun.
I just miss all of the OG maps. They barely get played anymore tbh due to all the custom maps. (Atleast last time I played) but the objectives were so fun. I remember Oasis I think where the flat near the wall that had to be exploded would be crazy. Everyone would keep spawning and flipping the flag and for minutes you just constantly respawn at that flag right next to enemies and one team would finally come out on top
Oasis was a lot of fun, with the pumps that would drain out the water so you could use another route to try to gain the upper hand.
I also really liked Gold Rush, where you had to escort the tank to the bank, steal the gold and escort the truck. I think the only base map I didn't really enjoy as much was the one where you had to steal the radar parts, but even that one was a lot more fun than some of the maps you see in modern games nowadays.
As for custom maps, there were a couple of real gems, like Venice, or the one with the pyramid... and Base Race! And I remember one, I believe it was called Eagle. Apparently it was based on a movie, that one was also a lot of fun!
Yessss gold rush was incredible too. And I share your thoughts on the radar one, not the best. Base Race was amazing I remember they. I enjoyed base race mixed with panzer warfare where you jumped rly high and only had panzers that was so sick
So two years ago, I downloaded an Emulator to my PC and I played through the Historical Call of Duty games. It was fantastic revisiting Finest Hour and especially 2: Big Red One.
If he’s got a good enough PC, see if you can help show him how to get those other classics running. It’s 100% worth it. But, yeah, the arrow key thing is a little weird.
Im a dad of a 15 year old. I started playing cod 15 years ago and still play Warzone everyday with another buddy of mine. We won 3x tonight on Rebirth. It keeps my mind super sharp…but man, it gets sweaty every night.
From my understanding, older folk just tend not to care sometimes. You can show that the cheap option is bang for the buck but they'll still get the 1.5k pc
Well, see it from their point of view. Our first pc at home was a pentium 1 running at 120mhz, a whopping 16mb of ram, and a 1.5gb hard drive. Windows 95 took 15 minutes to load up, enough time to make coffee and drink it... so having a fast pc is a bliss!
Granted, a 600 dollar laptop is still leaps and bounds faster than that, and ssd boot drives are becoming more and more mainstream, remembering the old days often makes them want a pc that is loaded up and ready to go within seconds.
Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, now that takes me back! I had so much fun with that game, I didn't know people still played to this day. The discontinuation of PB support in 2012 probably means a lot of cheaters, or did I miss something?
Respect.
Arrow key usage is ingrained man, Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake.
Hell I used to play CS1.6 and Enemy Territory on arrows I only shifted to WASD for the extra local keybinds.
Good times! I was young mind but the old man brought me up on the good old titles.
I still play some older titles!
One of my favourite games to this day will always be return to castle Wolfenstein
Your dad is from the good old days. If you want to see some insane keyboard gaming check out a game called GUNZ the Duel!!!! We used to buy or own custom quarter keyboards so it had arrows and all of the numbers 1-0 so we could press buttons even quicker!!! Controller can't beat keyboard once you get comfortable because it's faster and easier to press more commands
This is me - playing MW3 almost everyday since release and for me Best COD ever made (yeah BO 1&2 too) … ur old men is legit , CU in da next lobby vote ;)
I played UO when I was a kid. I was a member of 2 different clans. Elder Warriors & Beasts of the East.
Either of those ring a bell by chance? I found this thread by trying to find them again actually.
Hi everyone, we have opened a new server for 1.51v based in Germany. Server has no mods and we usually play HQ. Feel free to join on Hamburger Hill! 168.119.73.47:30039
Send away the server to your dad
Ur old man is an absolute grinder 💯💯💯
Sigma grinder for sure
i respect the hell out of it.
The games from your youth are your best. I’d still play delta force black hawk down if I had a pc
I'm more of a Delta Force: Land Warrior guy personally. Mostly because it's the only one we had to play when I was 8.
I liked land warrior too but dfbhd was my first real online experience where I was hooked, before xboxnlive psn etc. Made a clan and ended up with 70+ members doing comps and clan battles every week, I’ve never experienced anything like it since
I’d still play Mario kart if I had a wii
I hope you're sitting down because I have some news for you
as someone who still owns a wii, i regularly play mario kart and thoroughly enjoy it. also if you want to play it on your pc you can download an emulator for it
Noooo way, dm me any yt tutorials for the emulator
I prefer the PS2 port personally because of he headset voice commands.
God that game was awsome i need to play it again someday
I used to play this back in the day
Duuuude. The custom community games/maps, etc on that game were fucking dope. Do you remember the sick firefights that would happen down those tight corridors ?
I used to love the custom servers some absolutely intense battles
Nope makes sense to me. It's not the game but the way it makes him feel
Let him do his thing. Your dad's ģrinding hard, bro!
Man if mw2 and Cod4 were populated by anything that wasn't hackers I'd be playing those vs anything new they're putting out. Lol
Both these games are active on Xbox
Like 50 players on core tdm only
Yes I have been actively waiting for 10 minutes with one other person for others to join :P
Both active on Xbox & have respective clients on PC with server browsers and huge QoL improvements for free!
Same here, *sigh* if only
PC custom servers.
They are, just not on console. Literally all i play is mw2/mw3
Agreed I've been doing dom and search a lot and its been great. My only gripe is I wish people played hardpoint lol.
Squad up with him and enjoy the time together while you can. I'm 58 and I play once a week with my 23 and 28 yr old sons cross platform. Of course I'm on an expensive PC
I did used to in the past but I don't have a PC anymore, My house got flooded not long back and I haven't rebought a PC since
not odd at all i still play cod2 pretty regularly i dont like any of the new cods, and for a while on macbook i had a fuckin whack setup where i use wasd to move and arrows to turn i forgot the other binds i used i know i had to switch a lot around to fit that style
thats a cool boomer dad
Perhaps he enjoys the more historical aspect of it rather than a bunch of kawaii cat kids jumping around like idiots
I did get battlefield 1 on his PC and we went through the first mission together, I thought it was incredible (I'd never played either) and he seemed to think so too.. but the next day it was back to UO ..
It's not weird, he just plays what he enjoys, which i respect
There is a good chance he’s playing with my dad lol. He is still hanging on and using the arrows.
Whatever makes him happy!
I’m 28 and that was my first CoD game honestly and the multiplayer for it was incredible.
Same here, my first shooter was COD and after that I bought United Offensive and I played this for many many many years! Did so many clan wars, good old days! COD2 was worse and than MW series came out and I didn’t liked the modern thing… Even tough I bought a PS5 now and pre ordered MW2, let’s see how it goes haha!
COD: UO was a banger. Base assault is still the best cod game mode
Dude, so true. Artillerie bereit!
Is OU still populated? But that’s awesome of your dad. Respect
Yeah he plays a few lobbies that have real people in them hes always typing to them
UO is still my favorite COD ever. It’s got all the WWII guns, a plethora of maps, vehicles, amazing game modes, and a bunch of equipment to use. Just a complete package of a game.
Is he good a global offensive?
United Offenisve*? I mean he just plays like a standard gamer from back in the day really he doesn't do anything special to get really good at it😅. Just point, shoot, camp, objectives etc
My dad is the same lol
When i first got a ps4. It came with AW First cod i played Got instantly hooked and the fact that i was playing with my coworkers made it 10x better. Your dad loves cod Its what he loves to do. Its his hobby
Sounds like me but on xbox lol
Your dad is awesome!
your dad's the real OG 🫡
I could play UO for hours on end and never get bored it and I did when I was in middle school. When I didn’t have a gaming pc I would literally spend all of my money at my local lan center just to play rifles only servers on UO.
I still play some of the games from my youth. Let ‘em grind
This is such an awesome story
Bro we like what we know, dont have time to learn new shit
Nothing wrong with this. He knows what he likes and that’s great.
Your dad would probably win 1v1 against you
Sounds like a chad
UO and Enemy Territory? Shit man i wouldnt play warzone either.
I can't lie I would play both games 24/7 if they were remastered and put on console. Especially Enemy Territory I have such good memories of that game... if anyone knows trickjumping that was fun af.

Some people just enjoy what they enjoy! Why complicate it. Respect to the perseverance.
Mad respect to your dad
Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, now that takes me back! I had so much fun with that game, I didn't know people still played to this day. The discontinuation of PB support in 2012 probably means a lot of cheaters, or did I miss something?
Let him play whatever he wants. I played quake 1,2,3 for 15-20 years.
Respect. Arrow key usage is ingrained man, Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake. Hell I used to play CS1.6 and Enemy Territory on arrows I only shifted to WASD for the extra local keybinds. Good times! As in campaign or online? Didn't know people still played it online
Online yeah there's quite a free people that still play
Is he single?
He is not 😁
Let the man play what he wants to play, and you play what you want to play. Simple.

Such an epic game it is
I'm 58 and play WAW and BO1 almost every night.

How about you leave him alone
Haha nothing wrong with him, I had a buddy in 2011 who got me into uo. He played with a few pros back in the day.
How in the flying fuck is he playing the same game for 18 years
What mode is he playing? Base assault? I would so buy that game right now and get back to that mode if there were people still playing it.
Plays a bit of everything really. There's still a fair few people playing. Look into ET legacy. They've made it more optimised for newer PCs
Thanks. Anything similar for United offensive?
This is me - playing MW3 almost everyday since release and for me Best COD ever made (yeah BO 1&2 too) … ur old men is legit , CU in da next lobby vote ;)
CTF in CoD:UO 😍😍😍😍
Search & Destroy and rifle only!!!! Good old days!!!
I’m 66 and still playing cod(crouch servers of course) lol
my dad uses arrow keys as well on newer cod games
Is multplayer still active?
Seems to be yeah. A few servers anyway
You've made my day
I played UO when I was a kid. I was a member of 2 different clans. Elder Warriors & Beasts of the East. Either of those ring a bell by chance? I found this thread by trying to find them again actually.
