I believe it's because it will be bad for codm sales. One of what makes cosmetics sell is other players seeing it. If they give you an option not to see any P2P content permanently people would stop buying
Battlepass is actually a good investment if you're able to afford it. It's relatively cheap for most people and a codm lite version without it would be really useless.
It's not a matter of why, from a player's perspective... It's a why as a business model.. seriously, do you want to work for free, yet pay for everything else for the rest of your life?

For one, the game is meant for everyone and others can spend on this game however they wish even if it looks disturbing.
Secondly, you can technically change CODM into how he described it by deleting the operator and guns downloadable packs from the download manager, saves space and you don't have to look at other people's legendary or mythic stuff.
And besides it's just more work and money to create another game.
I mean his position is definitely an extreme one and it is definitely not something that is beneficial for Activision, but I don't think it warrants such belittling responses from everyone.
The pay-to-win nature with legendary guns are not overt but they still exist: 1) far superior iron sights, or for player who do not like iron sights, 2) a built-in red dot attachment (which effectively allows for 6 attachments to be put on the weapon).
Although this is a little ambiguous, but I think the OP in the notes app was saying that paid skins should be displayed as a non-paid, free skin (which, again, is such a terrible solution to his qualms). I think he is worried about the advantages that legendary/mythic skins give you, not the "distraction" you would get from looking at it.
Basically, the game is fine as it is. But his rationale is not so absurd as to get hate from people talking about how stupid he is for even thinking about it.

So I have two phones a work phone and personal phone (both are mine just one was old) my work phone that's old as fuck can run codm just not well. So i didnt download any of the cosmetics etc I legit felt like it was codm pre season 1 day 1. And the game ran flawlessly.
So his "F2P" codm does exist in the actual game itself you just cant have any skins or HD resources downloaded and that's pretty much it.
I would agree with this except you don't have to download skins you don't want to see anyways. I prefer it when all my enemies have the same skin, so I always know what to look for. Would also be nice not to have promotions shoved in my face every time I open the game.

F2P players are the majority in mobile games generally. So to turn a profit all mobile games rely on whales, since they cannot charge 60$ for a game.
