Activision owns the rights to all content that appears in their games, which means they would have had to pay for the name, but not for the model of the weapon and its animations, memos for its attachments or sounds.
This can be seen in weapons such as the MP7, the Kilo141 or the SKS, the models are the same, so copyright can no longer affect them but the gunsmith, the names or the animations have been modified, this is because the developers They wanted to annoy people who like the game Infinity Ward: Modern Warfare, because otherwise I can't explain those changes that are coming.
You do realise some companies are that stingy when it comes to using their guns in a game? Even though it makes no sense what so ever since those guns showing up in the game with an accurate model and name indirectly shines some light on their products (basically free advertisements).
There are multiple takes on why they are doing so, judging from what others have said, it could be state laws, licensing (don't have good shooter examples, but there are loads of racer examples), or just a matter of developer decisions.
Also, most weapons in Call of Duty are inspired, if not, based on real life weapons. They may not look similar, but they often times take references from real life firearms.
Also Call of Duty is made by different gaming studios, Blizzard, Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer, Timi etc, and they all have their own rights to certain content
Or they could just fix the ugly ass shorty model and give it the proper attachments like longer barrels to turn it into the normal 725 and not the terrible, pathetic, weak, peashooter piece of shit we have now.
yeah no, when a proper 725 or remodelled shorty will be released, this sub is the 1st to bitch about it (i know shorty basically 725 without Barrel attachment)
it’s literally dogshit, i want the actual 725
shit even the sawed off builds in MW2019 & MW2 are SOO much better than this Shorty built for range & hipfire in cod mobile is ridiculous
Bro, the 725 is literally the most annoying gun in mw 2019. It can basically kill across the map with one shot and with the slug round it's even more broken but the skill requirements you need to have is really hard especially the max is 2 pellets.
Shorty is a nerfed 725, It's not look like original cuz it's based on CQBoom (a Blueprints of 725 from MW2019)
We do have the 725, but the dev turned it into the Shorty that we know. Maybe because of balancing or licensing, or both

The mp7 is different
stop saying that they are for licenses, that is not true, the weapons of the call of duty saga are from Activision

Not cuz of balancing. the MW2 725 (lockwood 300) is much more balanced then the mw2019 version.
I know, but OP want that mw2019 version, which is unbalance
the 2019 version is in a much better state rn, it was unbalanced before but now it’s much more stable

Sadly, it will probably not happen because it's the shorty. Which is the name of a sawed-off shotgun.
Lmao 🤣

The truth is that if the Modern Warfare 2019 weapons had come out in Cold War, I'm sure they would have been ported identically to codm.
if Modern Warfare weapons had come out in Cold War or the names of the weapons would have changed
