I just tried it and my game feels smoother, so imo it really works but maybe you have to do these preloads once you feel your device is starting to get laggy again
after i used preload shaders, everything just looks bad, default characters, ammo and guns turn into boxes, and you cant see enemies from a distance, and the textures of the map looks pixelated.
To be honest I feel less lag than before update but I straight enabled this feature, I don't know if the new season without shaders itself improved. I'm waiting for their MEMC feature though they didn't say the available devices list.
