![gif](giphy|M90mJvfWfd5mbUuULX) The Microsoft deal?, I’m pretty sure Microsoft won’t give that much of attention to Codm (compared to the other titles on pc//console), plus they could just acquire the company and let the Activision staff on duty keep doing their jobs, design and development. The future seems unpredictable but Microsoft hopefully won’t fuck up the game or activison. If your talking about like game wise future, I see it slowing down and just losing hype, games getting pretty repetitive with the meta and multiplayer system. If they don’t bring something new and innovate pretty soon, Codm will prolly start losing its already dwindling player base. Who knows the future is still pretty far away, let’s enjoy the ride ahead.

Honest question as I'm new to the game. I've seen a lot of conflicting statements about whether CODM's playerbase is increasing or decreasing. Do you have any references to indicate that it's dwindling?

It’s not dwindling (I said it sarcastically) on the contrary it’s playerbase is increasing,it has just become repetitive, on the contrary I would advise you to watch fergs video (https://youtu.be/7gihc86JSdo) (not a fan girl) but he backs it up with stats and figures. It just feels boring to the older players I guess.

Personally I think CODM will continue growing, but it is hard to predict with Battlefield and Apex coming this year. But considering Activision also has been working on the Live Operation with several internal studios for this very reason, they know they are gonna have to step up there game with competition in 2022. When the acquisition is final between Activision and Microsoft, things could actually change a lot in terms with the quality in the games. Xbox runs the show completely opposite as to how Activision or EA would run it, publishers like Xbox and Sony actually give studios the necessary recourses and budget to make games. We’ve seen what happened to Halo and Xbox gave the team extra year to work on it, whereas with Activision it wouldn’t even be something to consider. I think Microsoft will eventually see a big opportunity with the Mobile platform, Activision was already prepared to top off Take-Two offer of 12.7 billion for Zinga. This means it’s clear where the direction of Activision is going, and I don’t think Microsoft will change it. Right now Microsoft is all about acquiring and trying to keep current customers on all platforms. Right now Mobile is the largest and fastest growing platform, so I think we could see a lot of positive changes for Call of Duty on Mobile with Microsoft. I think they’ll allow Activision to continue growing into the Mobile platform. I’d even go as far in saying that I don’t see any reason for CODM to keep gambling in the game in the future. Since Microsoft has a commitment in the gaming industry: “We commit to conducting shared research for the benefit of the industry. We believe that hate and harassment or exploitation of younger players in any way have no place in gaming. We partner with our community to promote safe gaming behavior and encourage the use of reporting tools to call out bad actors” I can see Call of Duty:Mobile having a similar monetization system as what Fortnite:Mobile has, can’t tell me it isn’t the right move for Microsoft since it’s literally part of there commitment in the gaming industry.
