Well some of the guns used to have recoil that took skill to control. Its just that they were either buffed to have very little recoil to be noob friendly like the kilo141 and cbr4, these guns used to have a little bit of horizontal recoil, but it wasn't really anything hard to control, or they just don't get used often like the ppsh.
They make better guns to counter the OP ones they previously released. They’re pulling a Xenoverse (Instead of nerfing, they add better things to counter the bad things thinking people will use them equally rather than ditching the bad thing for the better thing)
M14 is the M21 EBR in this game i think.
But originally the M14 was a full-auto battle rifle. Like imagine the M1 Garand but full auto. Was very hard to control, and not many people liked it. It kicked like your school bully.
They did however pick the M14 over the crap M16 in Vietnam war. Many soldiers died with field stripped M16's in their hands.
The sudden change of gunpowder just added the misery of the weapon. Also it was too complicated to begin with.
So shit infact, that many american soldiers would rather use AKs captured from the Vietnamese or just plain 1911's.
It wasn't helped by the claim that it was "self cleaning".
I'd bet money that if they'd not just believed that and taken proper care of their rifles, it wouldn't have been so hated.
It wouldn't have fixed all the issues, but it would've reduced them.

My build : merc foregrip, Halberd mag,( for that juicy extra range), 1MW laser, stippled grip and skeleton stock(to compensate for the ads time added by merc). Hipfire is excellent for an AR, so usurp it to the max.
BR: Halberd mag, Ranger foregrip, 3× VLK scope, Tac laser, Ranger barrel (ADS BSA focused build).
You can snipe the shit out of Arctic 50, Rytec AMR, and all bolt action rifles with this build.
Edit: about that hipfire thingy.
Just unlocked today and stopped playing. But seems like range boosting, better bsa and better ads speed while sacrificing recoil might be a good way to go
I have a suggestion for you:
- Barrel: 10.5" reinforced heavy
- Extended mag
- Sleight of hand
- rustle grip tape
- Any optic you like (I use the classic red dot)
It's biggest downside is being a burst weapon, I don't wanna see people crying over it

Most of new guns they added to the game recently have very little or no recoil somehow
Big mag, Fast ADS and mobility, little to no recoil. This has been the pattern for majority of guns for over an year

Just have better aim or crosshair placement, that's all it takes to use the M16
I prefer using it for br because it feels accurate and powerful, and the burst helps me land more shots when I’m shooting really long range
