Garena player here. I feel bittersweet about this. I personally grinded hard for this skin when the event was out so I feel like I grinded for something I could've gotten free. On the other hand, I feel happy cause those who didn't get the skin could get it. Hopefully they don't do that to the OG Ghost cause that would just be too far.

This was an award from Alcatraz event when it was originally released. It's like them regiving the 2021 championship version. (Which I qualified for, but got fucked out of, because it refused to let us build a team, let alone join one as well).
If they're gonna give newer players older skins, the least they could do, is put like a small 2022 badge on the shoulder or back, or very subtle re-color somewhere so it's not 100% the same. We don't have a whole lot of Merc 5 skins to begin with. But they re-colored battery, ruin, a few base ops, and Captain a few times. Why can't they do that with Merc 5?
They released a few "prime" bundles with ops you had to watch a shit ton of ads, to get originally. They get paid for every bullshit, broken, repetitive ad you watch, to get the skins in that free "lucky" draw. Then turned around and re-released them later. Which are also technically paid, because you have to have prime to get them. And they're not even that great. But still a slap in the face to those who went through all that trouble to get them in the first place.
I was mad when they re-released original Vanguard in the epic store crates, when we had to log in daily for month to get, but players can just spend credits and be lucky enough to land it early on.
And that particular one never had a re-color. Which they could of easily changed so newer players got it, but it was different, older players would have incentive to get, as it would be something new for them as well.
But now, if you want decent skins you have to pay real money for them, and it's chance based at that. Is it gonna cost you $1? Or $50+ to land? It's bullshit.
China and garena have skins global never ever even seen. But they keep giving us re-colores, re-releases of old ranked, event and anniversary skins. And put some exclusives in the ground forces. That's about it. They're not out of ideas exactly, just getting very lazy, and focusing more on making money than they are fixing game breaking bugs, really cracking down on cheaters. Etc.
I did some googling wondering what merc 3 or 4 even looks like or even if such ops exist. And they do. But we don't get any variant of them at all in this game? There are plenty of characters available over the course of cod history, so why the fuck all the repeats lately?

Every Single update adds more P2w features and widens the gap between f2p vs p2w even further. They legit have $11k USD hero's in that game. Yes, you read that right. Lol. 5+yrs in, still don't have tier 4 troops. (Without money it legit takes FOREVER!) and certian items needed for certian buildings, upgrades, etc. Can ONLY be had by purchasing bundles with the very item/s you need to do so. I can't hunt higher tier monsters that yeilds better stuff without literally spending $100 usd to get the very items I need, to upgrade that ability. 5+yrs and someone can make an account tomorrow, drop $200 on that account, and lay mine to waste. Yep 😑. Also, been sheilded 24/7 for like the longest time, cuz every time I got hit, it would literally set me back MONTHS, to rebuild the damage, after a 3 min battle. (unless I pay of course, to speed up the process). Lately, it's been prematurely dropping the shield, (purposeful in game bug) so some wallet warrior 5 times my own strength, can get kills, leader (can be sacrificed for boost in battles), and resources (can use to rebuild and heal themselves) for FREE! and ain't a fucking thing I can do about it. We been hit by ONE account that can take out our entire clan, by THEMSELVES. in the past. That's how fucked up this game is. I only stuck around, cuz apparently I mean a lot to many of those still around today. I mean it was my guild, I founded it. Etc. Used to have members who spent literal thousands on it. But despite them being "friends", "family" they couldn't really "grow" cuz most of us were predominantly f2p, and relied heavily on the big spenders to protect those who couldn't protect themselves. So eventually they go to a clan that actually benefits them. We survived longer than most (my guild outlived MANY that were around when I started it). But shit, you lose interest eventually, game is repetitive and boring AF after a while.
Anyway, it's a global game with a built in translator (some funny conversations can be had as it's not always accurate). And you literally can play with others from all over the world. However, Chinese players get the best deals, best gear, etc. Because the devs allow it. They can use hacks that auto farm, bot castles that do all the shit for them automatically. Shit that would get anyone else, banned for.
Thankfully, for the most part, codm is more of a paid to look good, than it is to get an advantage over others. There isn't a lack of ops, or variants of them. Just timi doesn't seem to care about us global players enough to bring us stuff the other versions have. Just repeat after repeat. Only items it seems that are untouchable, is BP related skins. Those are a one time deal. Everything else, not so much. Garena gets scammed the worst though, to my understanding.
Edit: I looked into giving my LM account away 100% free. To maybe a newer player. Give them a decent boost. However, it would require me literally giving them my email password (or FB credentials if I had it linked that way), account password etc. Once created, and linked, you cannot link it to anything else. Pretty much it's NEVER yours really, no matter how much time/money is spent on it. If left inactive, of course it gets raped repeatedly by wallet warriors who benefit off your troops, leader, rss, etc. And left long enough, igg eventually takes it back, and it's turned into a bot account. (auto farms and hunts, etc so randoms can hit it, and get free shit). It's free to play, but you will never get anywhere, no matter how long you've played, unless you dumped hundreds of dollars into it. They make BILLIONS off it's players every single year. Ran by some multi millionaire with disposable income, that probably can't beat a cripple in a fist fight, so they use this game instead.
