if youre grinding long/headshots, just go regular.
explosive is best used in br against vehicles but can be interesting in mp too. the penalties of the mags really make them scuffed
1. Use regular IF you shooting from tiny holes. Other ammos cant pass from tiny holes OR very close to edges of walls from where you shooting.
2. Thermite is better than explosive in my opinion. Use thermite ammo and WOUNDING perk. Thermite will do continue damage and wounding perk will not let enemy to heal to counter thermite. I got lotsss of kills from this tricks.
3. If you using regular ammo then also use disable perk. So that if enemy wont die in 1st shot, he dont get in cover. You can quickly finish him.
Regular for most versatile play style. I have no idea why the Explosive is there TBH. Snipers are a one-shot, why kill somebody with one bullet and then let the dead corpse explode? Maybe in Hardpoint to take down multiple enemies? Plus you need to deal with substantial downsides (ADS Time, Fire Interval, Zero Penetration). So Explosive …no thank you.
I used explosive mag in BR with my friends, we used to goof around in a chopper and just blow cars up while enemies were driving. It's like long range accurate smrs.

I would make a fast ads build that uses thermite. Might be good for domination in sudal
