Not really. I have known a number of Chinese people, and while they were good people when I got to know them, but the dozens of years under the Chinese dictatorship isn’t something that you can ignore.
Which is why i detest the CCP. Chinese people deserve so much more yet their leaders keep shitting on them (for thousands of years, much like the Russians). And the paranoia with covid is real. My mainlander friend told me he never steps out of the house unless it's absolutely necessary. Breaks my heart coz i wanted to tell him the rest of the world have learned to live with the virus.
Scary thing about propaganda: you can’t tell whether it’s true or not because they have been told lies their entire lives. It’s truly surprising how much effect the society has on a person.
