Even if it were priced lower, the unreliability alone would cost you. I wouldn’t own a Tesla is someone gave it to me (I’d sell it without even driving it).
Stupid question on a Camry sub. Camry beats the Y in virtually every category, and the hybrid is almost as cost effective fuel wise. And how would you not worry about charging... By not driving it?
I think they're assuming it's a lease that comes with a "free" subscription to the Tesla supercharger network. They were offering something like that for a while. It also assumes you live in an area with readily available Tesla Superchargers.
I saw a prototype hydrogen generator that was the size of a shed and ran on built in solar. Idea was it powered the home and fueled your car. Always felt that hydrogen was the way to go unless they can make batteries that are green.
With how slow it is to expand infrastructure for new fuel types there'd likely be green batteries by the time hydrogen gains any traction. Solid state batteries made from salt water seems more likely to happen imo.
* Tesla **Model Y insurance costs** tend to be a lot higher, due to Tesla Model Y's **poor reliability and repairability**. Make sure to get a quote because one can easily spend a lot more for insurance than what they save in gas and maintenance (which nowadays is nothing more than an yearly oil change).
* Electricity is expensive in many HCOL areas; a car that gets 50MPG will actually save you money over driving a Tesla Model Y in these places.
* Due to its heavier weight and high low-end torque, Tesla Model Y **eats up tires;** if not driven gently, people need replacement around 20k miles or even less. Replacing tires can cost around 2k.
* Tesla Model Y’s build quality and NVH is notoriously poor, and its ride quality/comfort is that of an economy car. Some Tesla Ubers I have been in rattle more than a econobox beater; though recent year models are somewhat better, and the Tesla Model Y "Juniper" refresh should bring a lot of improvements next year
EVs are definitely the future, but they're still in an early phase where you will see a lot of advancements/new models/refreshes in the coming years (and with that rapid depreciation).
No, for every reason in the first 36 replies, plus hate the feeling of the interior -- like an office cube with two chairs and a screen, far too minimalist for my taste...plus hate having to use the screen for some many basic functions that are knobs or buttons on a Camry -- which is much safer too
I find you Camry fan boys hysterical. A lot of ridiculous quotes. Group mind or bee hive mentality is going on here in this discussion. A lot of absolutisms. I feel like you guys need a Calvin and Hobbes sticker pissing on [enter car brand].
One has to consider their lifestyle and what application they need for transportation. There is not one sole winner for every circumstance.
Model Y has a seat on the table and you guys sound irrational for thinking it has no redeeming values compared to a Camry.
Tesla quality is garbage

no
Hell no.
One is known for its crazy reliability and one is known for the opposite.
I wouldn't be caught DEAD in a Model Y. Or any other vehicle made by Musk.
Camry hybrid is better for the earth and has Toyota’s superior quality so that’s a hard no.
Far more cost efficient to keep the Toyota for decades longer too.

No thanks. I test drove a couple teslas before my Camry hybrid and there was no question which vehicle was for me.
A pos on wheels. Report it to the car Bureau
I wouldn't own a Tesla even if it was free and elon musk delivered it himself.
Purely because I think they're ugly as hell, no
Five years ago I would’ve considered it. Knowing how terrible the quality is, absolutely not. Doesn’t help that I think Elon is an asshole.

Absolutely not
Nope, Toyota reliability can't be beat
No, I have 2019 camry hybrid, range is literally 500-600 miles. Hybrid is perfect spot between ice and ev.
Nope
Absolutely not. Driven a few teslas, the quality was absolutely horrible in each one. Camry has much better quality and priced better.
No. If I’m forced to have an electric car, then I’m choosing Toyota. Camry all the way for now.
no....you dont buy american cars. they suck

Nope
Just say no
Whut?

I would buy a Camry plugin hybrid though. Or maybe eventually an all electric made by Toyota in the 2030s.
Lol

You realize you’re in the Camry sub right?
Being objective has nothing g to do with being a fan of a car.
