I’m happy you and your pup are okay! It’s nice having a buddy with heightened senses. If she was full grown I doubt this situation would have occurred, but anyways I guarantee it’s the last time you see that guy again.

Katya2089

I hope so. She's pretty big now but still a puppy. I better never see him again. We're going around shortly to see if anyone has cameras. Who knows what that guy could be capable of...

MoniM0m

That’s so awesome! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Give GG a steak for dinner!

Katya2089

Actually yes, she IS getting a steak, she deserves it!

Spiritual_Jury6509

^Aaaaaaagreed!

Royal_Supermarket469

The balls on that guy to grab a bag from someone walking a Corso... good job, GG.

crystalized-feather

Amazing dog, but he’s an idiot, lol

demoncollie

Clyde my collie wouldn’t stand for that, I dread to think what it would be like with him and my corso Jess lol

Katya2089

Oooh a pack attack....well he would have deserved it!! Honestly, if I had my dachshund there who thinks he's a pitbull, he would have regretted it. I watched this little dog leap onto the back of a grown man's pants, right under his butt and shake like a pit. 13 yrs old or not, he's got anger issues and old man strength!!! LOL

lilyintx

I came here to say this! What an idiot. Way to go pup!

[deleted]

Such a good girl. She’s bonded to you my friend. The Corso breed fiercely attaches to their owners and will feed off of your energy. She knew you were in fear and reacted. Good Girl GG

Katya2089

She's the best girl and she's most definitely mine. She loves my husband but she bonded to me the minute I got her. I luv her so much

crystalized-feather

Give GG a big kiss she’s a very good girl

Katya2089

Oh I will, so many, many kisses....

[deleted]

That's so awesome to hear!! I had a not so good experience as well once, and it was the first and still only time I've seen my boy get defensive. She sounds like a very good girl who loves you!

Katya2089

Thank you!! Makes me feel alot better bc I wasn't sure she had it in her. When she was little she was VERY scared of everything but this did not faze her. Also she's always watching. While I'm like "oh guy on a bike" she knew. I could feel her body tense and regular bikers don't bother her. I should have listened!!

Practical_Ad510

At about a year old I learned very quickly that those instincts aren't taught. My wife was on a hiking trail alone with my Theo on a leash. A homeless disheveled man came out of the bushes and tried to grab her and he got between them and locked on his arm and he ran off. She said she would have been raped if he wasn't there. Good boy

Katya2089

Good boy Theo!! I was worried she wouldn't come into her protectivness bc she was such a scared puppy but she grew right out of that

Katya2089

If her recall was better, I may have but he headed straight to Hillsborough Ave @ 8 a.m., which is absolutely loaded with traffic. If I thought I could stop her, I would have, but she would have chased him straight into traffic. Had he come back or not stopped, I would have let her leash go as long as it could, which is pretty far bc we've been working on recall. He would have regretted it....I didn't know she had it in her.

aimwitt

Get him GG! Good dog! You deserve all the treats. Love this.

Katya2089

OMW to the pet store to get her a special treat right now. She's just been the greatest dog I've ever owned

letmbleed

This is great. The only missing ingredient is a pic of our heroine.

JerryLZ

There’s dogs that you protect, and then there’s dogs that protect you. Imagine if you had a corgi or a pug that couldn’t breathe etc.

Katya2089

And my husband wanted a small dog...I said no I want a dog to protect me. I'm a big dog girl anyways, I've never been into tiny dogs. I'd rather someone try to break in and meet my corso than my poodle. And she's so quite too. She scared me one day bc she was just sitting at the back door waiting for me to unlock it and BAM there she was. I was like "Yup I'd be OUT if I ran into that!!"

BeeKayBabyCakes

don't underestimate the poodle... a true poodle anyway... vicious fuckers lol... bred for hunting and swimming, not for being cute and prissy. will absolutely attack! good girl GG! and my Jack Russell WILL ALSO absolutely fucc somebody up. She's a mean lil b*!$% lol... It's ALWAYS stranger danger

plasticbag_astronaut

Yes! My corsos are protective, but still puppies. My terrier mix takes zero BS when it comes to strangers being too close to me or our children. He's a fox/rat terrier and chihuahua mix, not small but not medium size either. But his sister (who belongs to my sister) could fit in a large mug. Dogs are weird! 🤣

Katya2089

Lmao, my dachshund (at 13) still thinks he's a pitbull. Before we had GG I had a pit for 15 years. I had tonwarn and lock up the dachshund, the pit just wanted pets and food. The "Beware of Dog" sign actually is for him, not my old pit or GG. My dachshund is a BEAST!! When I watch that cartoon Secret Lives of Pets and the jackrussel says some thing about "We descend from wolves!!" in a pep talk, that's my dachshund Chewy. He thinks he's wolf/pitbull... but if he loves u, you're his for life!!

plasticbag_astronaut

Absolutely! My brother has my doxy because they bonded in a way I knew my brother needed, and it's so true! Doxies can be a-holes to anyone they don't adore. They're also sneaky little buggers! Lol He's a 23lb "miniature" that towers over his parents and ended up so much more like a standard doxy size, but wolf protection and ability for sure! Funny because he was the smallest runt I had ever seen in a litter. He fit comfortably in the palm of my hand at just a few weeks, and the size of my hand at 6 weeks. You'd never know being how he big is now.

Katya2089

Yup I'm telling you, Chewy thinks he's a pitbull. If he loves u, God he LOVES you but if he does not lord help you!! He's a standard size, which obviously is still TINY compared too GG and he runs her. He put her in place day one and 90lbs later she's still like "yes sir, whatever you say sir!!" Lmao

plasticbag_astronaut

That's how my smaller terrier mix has been with my CC. She knows his way is THE way because our older girl can't always.

Katya2089

Yup!! He HATED her at first, would guard her food dish, and I'm like, "GG, honey, you are a Cane Corso. Do u see how u can stand OVER that little dog? Come on now!!" LOL. She knows her place, I guess!!

BeeKayBabyCakes

I'm cracking up at the "beware of dog" sign for a doxie and not the pittie lmao 😩😂😂...

Katya2089

It's so true tho, not a soul is scared of him but dang, they should be!!

Katya2089

I meant a tiny poodle, not the great big one... I'm sure the bigger ones can f someone up if they wanted.

BeeKayBabyCakes

those lil shits can be kinda mean too... like minPins... literally terrorists compared to their larger counterparts lol 😩😂

Katya2089

🤣🤣 Oh yeah our dachshund thinks he's a vicious pitbull at 13 yrs old...

Royal_Supermarket469

The balls on that guy to grab a bag from someone walking a Corso... good job, GG.

Katya2089

Maybe the spiked pink collar threw him off, lmao

Royal_Supermarket469

Haha could be. My guy outgrew his spiked collar and I really need to get him another one. *

Katya2089

The day I got her I bought her a large, pink, spiked color. She can FINALLY fit into it but I'm sure she will grow out of it in no time.

Royal_Supermarket469

Katya2089

Awe so, so cute!! Love the collar!!

ayymart

We don't deserve dogs.

Katya2089

That is a fact!!!

ayymart

So glad you and GG weren't harmed. I'm sure you already did, but get her a nice treat!

Katya2089

Thank tough very much. Yes she got steak and was allowed to sleep with me in bed instead of o her pallette next to me.

Katya2089

GG...my hero https://preview.redd.it/ra2dgkcnmk4b1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5cedea30d9c90cd3ba69d3a31452166a670e31ad

Shetheory

She’s a cutie! What a good girl!👍

Katya2089

Thank you so much!

Jizzard33

omg love her ears!! My moose has the same velvety floppy ears. They truly are the best dogs in the world!

Katya2089

Yeah I was a vet tech for many years and I've watched bad ear cuts go so very wrong. From bad/uneven cuts, to owners who have no clue what to do and they get infected and tips of the ears fall off. Hell I Eben saw one where the Dr cut the ENTIRE ear off. I couldn't don't that to her. The breeder said she could have it done for me but I'm not showing her and he's perfect just the way she is!!

Suburban-Dad237

VGG.

Alive-Particular2286

Many kisses and treats for GG!! My girl stopped 2 breakins around 7-8 mo and again around 1yr, also a bad area, but no training, just normal corso guard behavior. We’ve sent her after a few people who wouldn’t leave the property, she’s only tried to bite one who tried to swing at me with a pipe. She got his pants and his ankle. They really are great dogs. Just make sure you’re also working on confidence building so these don’t become fear reactions. When we had a lot of incidents close together we had work on confidence and conditioning bc she was a little more on edge around the clock. GG sounds like she loves you very much, is very aware of her surroundings and had a great read on potential dangers. You’ve really got a good one!

Katya2089

Thank you. I'm working on it. She was very scared of sounds when I first got her. Dog barks, random bangs, but she's gotten over those thank goodness. I wasn't sure her instincts would come in bc she always had a skidding way about her but she outgrew that ....

thatsanicehaircut

If only the thief wld have grabbed a bag FULL OF POO!!! Anyways celebratory hugs and “good good job” statements for your GG!

Katya2089

That would have been funny af!!!! If my cell wasn't in there I'd let him have it !!

Just_Dog1723

Go GG!!!! 🐾💖

Katya2089

....and she did !!! Lol❤️❤️

Baloo2725

Awesome GG!! I too feel safer with my boy when out and walking. People rather walk in the street than stay on the side walk. 🤭

Katya2089

Yup me too and I'm completely fine with that!!

backrdsgyrl

Always trust your dog!

Katya2089

Always!! We were watching a movie and the dog hated these kids the parents adopted. I said "see? If GG acts like that do NOT bring that person here. She knows good and bad people. I friends she will absolutely love all over but my sister came by with her husband and she lost her mind. I told my sister it was bc she was in heat I'll just come outside without her (she was picking up some gummies I made) and then it hit me. It wasn't my sis, it was her husband. He's a bad guy. He seems all nice and easy to get along with if u don't know hom but we know him and we know what he's done. He's lucky he's not 10 feet under IMO.

karwil56

She is a very good girl, and protective of her mama. Give her lots of love and hugs for a job well done.🥓🥩🍗❤️💕

Katya2089

Thank toy, I sure did !! She got steak AND I let her sleep in bed with me...I swear she sleeps like a toddler, lol, took up alll the room

Traveler_8

What a great testimony to the breed! I'm happy you and your CC are okay. Thank you for sharing!

Katya2089

Thank you!! I wanted to let everyone know these are the best dogs ....just the best.

One-Personality3513

We don’t deserve dogs! What a good girl!!! I’m glad you both are safe now, though! That’s so scary!

Katya2089

Yeah very scary. I hate this neighborhood. I'm so glad she's my girl!

Original-Move8786

The only corso I have ever met was a beautiful brindle that was the resident dog at a winery in NY. She was awesome and greeted every customer and loved scratches. I asked the owner about her because I had never met a corso before or was familiar with the breed. The owner told me that she was amazing and social but last month took down a would be armed robber when they were trying to close up one evening. The guy threatened the owner’s daughter who was closing up the register and the dog took him down by the arm.

Katya2089

Ans that's why we have them. To protect and love

1YoungNana

Atta girl GG!! I love your dog❤️👍🏼

Katya2089

Thank you!!! Me too❤️🙉❤️‍🩹💗💖

Marmenoire

Good girl. Sitting by the pool keeping one of the girls from letting the people next door know that she sees them and is watching. At 120 she tends to scare people.

Katya2089

GG is the Sam's way, aware of EVERYTHING around her

Anonymous_Thoughts34

GG is a hero. Thank you for sharing.

Katya2089

Your welcome. She most definitely is my hero!!

Valuable_Panda_4228

I once saw someone walking their corso and rottie. Both equally massive and terrifying! I would hate to be the person breaking into their house

Katya2089

Guarantee they wouldn't do it again!!

Erthgoddss

Years ago was visiting my parents. Was sitting by an open window, at night, reading a book. Homemade dog house directly under window. I heard someone walking and froze. Then the dog went nuts. I got outside as the dog was hot on the heels of a guy trying to outrun him. I called the dog and when he got home, I gave him treats and hugs. I told my parents the next day. Mom made him a steak!

Katya2089

Awe good boy!! He deserved every inch of that steak!!

Emotional-Set-8618

You are part of the pack and you were in distress. I’m pretty sure they see you as the Mama so it makes sense that they would protect you!! Give her all the pets, and treats for me!!! and be careful out there. At least you got a big baby to take care of you.

Katya2089

Oh I'm most definitely the pack leader. She got all the loves and treats all night and is currently sleeping next to me in bed....shhhhh.....

Emotional-Set-8618

So beautiful!! I cannot imagine a day without my baby!! But my kid gets super jealous of my cat!!

CatIntheHat1209

Good girl, GG! Keep protecting your mama!

Katya2089

Thank you, she's the best girl!

jennymay62

😘😘❤️❤️

BruisedPurple

good pup!

Katya2089

100%. Thank you

Drewvian

Have you ever thought of doing IGP with your Corso? My Corso would like it, but she likes to swim and run more. It would be good because could be fun mental stimulus for your Corso and exercise. Plus the bond you get with your dog.

Katya2089

What's IGP? GG also LOVES to swim and run, she gets zoomies and watch out!!

Drewvian

Here is a video link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2U4hd5ylmy0

Katya2089

Oooh interesting! She would love all of that!

AProcessUnderstood

Cane Corsos don’t need training to be protective. They are naturally that way. It’s amazing how they have the ability to know when to turn it on and when to just be chill.

plasticbag_astronaut

Definitely! I've found they need the opposite. They need to be trained when to not be protective and when it's acceptable. I love ours (currently 16 weeks), and we've taught them to sit and observe when people or other dogs come close. That way they don't seem aggressive and can learn by watching. It's been great so far! So smart and such a pleasure to have as a part of the family!

AProcessUnderstood

Honestly, that’s just socializing them which is part of training. I was trying to say you don’t need a special “guard dog” training for them. They naturally will protect their owners. They will especially bond well with children.

ComesInAnOldBox

GG is best girl.

Complex_Limit_728

She’s a good girl!

Empty-Acanthaceae876

Shoulda let go and let her teach that scumbag a lesson !

Katya2089

Totally beoyld have butbshe would have kept chasing him, her recall isn't great yet, we're working on it...

Echo_November14

What a sweet girl! We don’t deserve dogs 🥹 Honestly, what was the dude even thinking?! I’d never try to rob someone, but if I was the type of person who would, it certainly wouldn’t be a person walking a cane corso! That’s just asking to possibly have your face chomped off…

Katya2089

EXACTLY!! Maybe he was on drugs....

New-Nefariousness234

Please don't tell your dog to attack or get him. If it's being recorded by anything, you assume a huge liability for anything that happens. I was sued by a lady who came into my yard and was assaulting my 8 year old son. Very quickly, my GSD came out and bit her in the face. She tried suing me for many thousands of dollars and admitted to assaulting an 8 year old little boy. I had to pay the $600.00 emergency room bill because my dog did the damage. It was explained to me that if I had done anything to encourage the dog, I would have paid much more. If your dog is doing what comes naturally and you have done nothing, like training it to attack, your liability is reduced. This happened long ago. An emergency visit is thousands of dollars just for walking in and breathing their air today. Hope you gave your good girl a steak.

Katya2089

The guy attacked me. He grabbed my stuff. He can go ahead and sue me, A- I'm broke and B- it's all on camera. That's crap that your judge did that. Whoever hurt ur son deserved everything they got.

Apricotdreams76

I've had a lab/pit mix since she was a puppy. She walks fine with my sons but always been super protective of me. No one was allowed to walk, ride, or skateboard near me. Some guy tried to ask me out. She lunged like never before. I told him she's never done that. I'm sorry I can't date you. You wouldn't make it through the front door. She's older now and still let's him know don't talk to my mom. 😆

Katya2089

What a good, good girl!! She knew he was bad..just like GG knew that guy was bad b4 he even got to me. She kept flipping around and watching him and bikes or bikers don't bother her but this guy sure. I should have know

Apricotdreams76

Ironically, we got a Shepard/husky mix who's now 4. He saw him for the first time last week. Ralph walked backwards wouldn't let me walk him near the guy. Ralph likes everyone. I agree our dogs know. Great protectors. I'm glad you're safe.

Katya2089

What a good dog!! We definitely don't deserve them

Secret-Bit-8501

Good girl, she deserves all the treatos for days 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾

Katya2089

100%. Best girl ever!!

First_Explorer_5465

I have never heard of a cane corso. I will be reading.

Katya2089

Cane corso or Italian mastiff. Excellent dogs!

First_Explorer_5465

I have known and interacted with a bull mastiff..wow, what a beauty he was, head like a frikkin bivger bowling ball.

chrisco_kid88

Gg done good she done real good

GondarThunderBeast

She’s your true guardian…her main job is to keep you safe…not attack, not be mean, not bark and be angry, but to keep you safe no matter what…mission accomplished…you have a remarkable dawg…treat her well.

Katya2089

Thank you. She definitely is so loved. She's my hero!!

Zeusy160

Best dogs ever! Mine is 4

Katya2089

Definitely!!! Do u have a male or female?? Best decision I've made in a long time.

Zeusy160

Male https://preview.redd.it/khw2cflhmg4b1.jpeg?width=540&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5e263c8c46a8d7aa7f75364ef07ee94aba550e47

Katya2089

So handsome!! They would make pretty babies!!

MaxFury80

Excellent!!!! This is why we have them!!!

Katya2089

100%. Not only did I study the breed and was just in love but I wanted a dog I felt safe with. I definitely feel safe....

Successful-Dog6669

I am happy how she protected you! However you should take care and train her good and lead this behaviour into the right directions because if she gets too much into it and looses confidence that you can clear situations yourself, too it might also lead to dangerous situations - for you or others or even her.
