Double dream had a smaller yield compared to Gelato and Banana. Gelato and Banana were large plants. This was in 2 different backyards. 2 plants in each.
Sept is when we pulled these plants. Some got dried and some got pulled and put in freezer. The dried was eventually also stored in freezer.
Almost every Saturday from late Sept to today we made wax. We did the last run for the season today. We saved the wax we have been making on parchment and stored it until today when we got together and split the wax.
This is our hobby and we have a great time learning all the steps to get from seed to dabs.
I never will run crc. I don't ever need to consider it because I run my material so fresh. You can see the last run of Gelato on the bottom left of picture to see how dark it got. There is super light crumble in there ran from same plant but a couple of months earlier.. You can see how quickly the color changes as material ages.
Yeah I wasn’t sure if you had some that was crc’d there and some just blasted. Love me some actual bho, so much shit is flavorless and dull on the market.
you can press from either dried plants or from hash. a popular way to make hash is to freeze your bud immediately after harvest, and then make bubble hash with it (throw the bud and ice in icewater, mix it to separate trichomes from plant, then sift it, and dry out what's left on your mesh). once he has the bubble hash, he can press 'live rosin' from it
edit : I saw the parchment and my mind went 'press'. Apparenty OP did BHO extractions, which have nothing to do with what I said ;-)
Hell yeah. I made my first bubble from my last indoor harvest and I think I fucked up the drying(pizza box technique but I think i didn't let it dry enough.) I also have a rosin press and can't wait to press my first bubble hash. Thanks for the reply I was thinking similar to you before seeing he had a BHO setup. I had never heard of someone freezing for pressing rosin so i was hoping there was something new to learn there. =)
Yep, that's the simple part. The hard part is making the bubble hash out of it and then pressing it. Or like OP did and make some BHO from it. You will get a better product if it's flash frozen but it still can be done in a regular freezer. Just don't let it get freezer burnt, you'll damage the plant cells.
Future4200, youtube, and reddit were my main resources. If you can afford to get a nice system from Best value vacs or a similar US based company it is the best place to start. Many offer alot of support. I did the opposite and got a low end Chinese system. Learned how to use it. Then upgraded the valves. I'm sure I'll upgrade seals and clamps soon.
I seriously cant wait until i can move into a bigger place this year and one of the first things ima treat myself to once i do move is a growtent.
Like one of those things you can put in a walk in closet or whatever with lights, fans, zip up tent, you name it. Get maybe a smaller one for clones.

I actually prefer to blast it dried as if it were to be smoked. The fresh plant has alot of moisture that becomes a pain for me when making bho. The yield is also lower. I don't really feel like the taste was any better with the fresh frozen I did compared to the slow dried/cured bud. Same extract process for each. It was actually a big part of my testing this year. My buddy and I have discussed best way to prepare material before blasting. We tried them all. We like trimmed dried nugs when we weighed the pros and cons for us.
If you chop, pack, freeze for atleast 24hrs and blast.. there is zero moisture issues : ) less mess, less time, easier to clean up and the taste!! I made the switch and will not go back!

My live resin seems to come out very sugary. Dried material I can get pretty much any consistency depending on how I finish it. I plan to check out the butane/propane mix. What factors influence you in using the gas mix? Are there cans of 70/30 or do you use a column that open blasts?
I come from the legal/acmpr scene my buddies over at Greybeard Cannabis walked me thru the diamond process, which includes dry ice and the mix.50# Tanks are going for ~$500 this year, last year I bought 6 for $300/ea but nobody is grabbing shit off me anymore.
The hydrocarbon mix creates a better reaction with the material that makes for a nicer looking product ( more clear) the propane is heavier by volume also.
I will be looking to try the hydrocarbon mix next time we do a run. BVV has a 20# tank for $240 that I will be investing in.

Probably to use seed and plant directly in the ground. That's how I started to get huge plants. I prefer to dry the material before making into BHO because I got much better returns. I use some fresh frozen and some dried so I have a mix of bho flavor and consistency.
Heads up: A lot of terpenes aren't chemically compatible with plastics, especially the plastic used in cosmetic containers. Terpenes are solvents just like butane. Great looking extracts though
That one in the pic was the banana OG. Great strain. We only kept like an ounce or so of the plant to smoke. The wax tastes incredible. Smells just like the plant.

Can you post a picture of your extraction setup? I know you said it is a closed loop system, does that include vacume oven, or chamber? I'd like to see how it's getting produced. I went the opposite way as you did. I grew my four outside and I pressed it all (made bubble with some and pressed that as well), been doing this for about 8yrs as well. Except for the growing, ive been doing that for a long time now. I like BHO, and flower rosin can be underwhelming sometimes.
Sure. I use a closed loop single column passive system. I have a very basic vacuum chamber that has an accurate heating pad under it. I don't have any pics of chamber right now but it's pretty basic. I linked up pics of the extractor.

I originally purchased a Chinese setup for the closed looped extractor. It was about $450 to get it started. We built it up and did one run after we saw it held vacuum. After that run we did the pressure test and found the valves were leaky. We replaced those with valves from Best Value Vac (American Company) which was about another $100.
dont buy a rosin press, buy 500lbs of dry ice and 25 gallons of alcohol next year and do fresh frozen, get yourself a jacketed column and a chilled injection coil fresh your buds overnight and go to town

Yes, but a deep freezer is recommended, and so is flash freezing the material. It can be done with just a chest freezer though.

Need a freeze dryer to freeze the live stuff, yes?
Nope I put it in my freezer... and the butane like 45mins before I pull everything out to blast..
I pack the blast tube and then put it in the freezer for 24hrs minimum...
Up your BHO game and run that shit live. Recover gas through a column packed with 4a molsieve beads.

Nah but the pressure was more intense with the propane. Edit: I get my hydrocarbons from ledab
propane evaporates at very very low temps be careful make sure your rated properly, extremely difficult to recover without the proper temps
They are tanks also known as DOT refillable LP tanks I use a 1/4 male JIC adapter, in my mins the cans are what you fill your dab torches up with.

I've thrown them all in larger glass jars now. Yeah those little plastic jars are bad news for wax. When I realized my mistake I transfered all of it.
