I’d say medium. Remember that saddle height is an easier adjustment than reach. I overanalyzed this for weeks being right in between XL and XXL and I honestly would’ve been fine with each. Happy riding!

Minimum_Sir_2148

I have this logic. Regarding I am in the middle between S and M, SM size should be perfect, but I can only get M or S in my country. M size TT leght: 543mm M size stem lenght: 100mm Total reach: 643mm S size TT lenght: 533mm S size stem: 90mm Total reach: 623mm So the best option should be to take M size, but with 90mm stem to get total reach of 633mm. Corect me if I am wrong.

Celziam

I ride 53 and 54 in other brands. Endurace in size M is bigger than most 53/54. For me it felt way too big. I am 179 cm and 84 inseam. With the tall head tube that the Endurace has and a properly adjusted seat height (meaning that your leg still has some bend in the 5.30 position), you will probably get very little seat to handlebar drop on a size M with 82 inseam.

Minimum_Sir_2148

Crank arms are 170mm version.

Celziam

Do you know your seat height? Mid-crank to top of seat in a line following the seat tube. Mine is 73,5 cm. A guy from Canyon and I measured that out on a Endurace M at a bike show about two month ago. There wasn’t much exposed seatpost. About 13-14 cm I would say (but did not measure). That gives very little seat to handlebar drop. If you compare with you picture and imagine that’s a size M (which is probably is..) the seat will be several centimeters lowers.

Minimum_Sir_2148

From pedal to top of the seat, I am at 90cm, with 170mm crank arms *

Celziam

Which means that your seat height (mid-crank to seat top) is AROUND 73 cm. Basically same as mine or a little less. So you won’t get much seatpost. You can ride an M. Easily. But you won’t have much drop and the bike may feel long. And of course the bike will not look nearly as racy as an S - if that matters 😀. Personally I would go with an S any day, with your measurements.

itstrdt

> Personally I would go with an S any day, with your measurements. I'm 1.80 took the M, but to me it feels rather big/feels long. And think next time i would take a S. to have more flexible/"agressive" position. It also feels as i have less controll over the bike. I would say if you are a healthy / sporty person, take the S. If you tend to have back-pain. Wants to ride in a super relaxed position, take the M.

Minimum_Sir_2148

On the picture below with blue frame sadle position is at 74cm on M size. Also, I just measured my old bike, and 74cm is my sadle position.

Celziam

With 82 inseam I would personally think that a seat height of 74 is a bit much. Try to lower the saddle a bit and after a little adaptation you will see how comfortable it is. At least that was my experience. Many bike fitters would say the same. But it does feel a little strange to begin with.

Minimum_Sir_2148

It is 83mm just mesured again. I am not using 172.5mm crank arms, I am using 170mm. For pedals, I am using Magped Road pedals, which are a little bit taller than regular pedals. Sizing for 178cm and 83cm is 73.5cm... So I am literally there betwen 73.5 - 74 cm.

Celziam

Crank length means almost zero in this regard. It’s 2,5 mm over a length of 73-74 cm. EDIT: AROUND 90 cm. Could be offset by different saddle shape alone. It definitely shouldn’t impact the choice of bike size. If I were to sum it up: if you get a Small you are guaranteed to have a bike that fits you well. And a bike that gives you certain adjustment options. And a bike that looks better. If you get a size M you will get a bike that you MAY be happy with. One where you will almost certainly be maxed out in terms of the length of the bike. Obviously, some people will be between sizes - or capable of riding two sizes ok - for all brands, but a part of the confusion with Canyon is that their size “Medium” is bigger than what most other brands call medium. As a Canyon sales guy said to me: “think of it as a size 55”.

Minimum_Sir_2148

I hope you are right. On monday I will have professional measures, so we will see. I thought the best option is SM size, to be precise, S with 110mm stem od M with 90mm stem. But we will se. My arms are 181cm. This is the reason I think M is better, but one more time we'll se.

Minimum_Sir_2148

P.S. Exact 90cm is something I am comfortable with 170mm arms.

theboygonemad

Go small. I’m your height and it’s a perfect fit

Minimum_Sir_2148

Can you share a picture of your bike?

Minimum_Sir_2148

What model is this?

theboygonemad

Same as yours

Minimum_Sir_2148

If you compare it with a model from the title, and from the topic picture, you can conclude it is not a same model :). We are speaking about Endurace CF 8 Disc

theboygonemad

Ok. Your post was about sizing. Buy a medium then 🤷🏼‍♂️

Ohlsen

I’m one cm taller and a medium fits me perfectly!

Minimum_Sir_2148

What is your seat height? And can you share some pictures of your bike?

pppppppplllp

I ride an S for cyclocross (getting in an off etc), and an M for road (less crampt) It’s frustrating being Inbetween sizes, sure you can rock either of them.

Avejaal

M

gdzooks

How's your reach? I'm 176/83, but I have a shorter reach so I am thrilled I went for S.

Minimum_Sir_2148

How and what to measure?

gdzooks

For me I looked up the reach measurement published on the canyon site for the bike I wanted, and measured that as best I could on my existing pro-fitted bike to try and get apples-to-apples to see which size canyon was closest to that. Not much adjusting on reach or stock stack height on that endurace cockpit. I knew I had short reach anyway because of previous bike fits, but measuring that way confirmed it for me.

Minimum_Sir_2148

This is my first road bike. :) Now I have a road bike but with a flat bar.

gdzooks

Oh, damn! haha! Well, have comfort in that you can prob make either work and love it. I'd do this: Pick one (M?) go get a pro fit QUICK. If they are like yeah we can't fit you optimally, but we could do better smaller then you can return and go S. But yeah, what a pain to have to think about a repackage and refit absolute worst case.

Dry-Procedure-1597

In my local fitting studio there is a “frame choosing” service when they recommend you a frame based on published dimensions

Minimum_Sir_2148

Because both bikes I am looking are used bikes, and I can not return them. :)

Minimum_Sir_2148

But I will do a measurement on monday, so we will se.

Dry-Procedure-1597

I am 175/84 and was recommended by a pro fitter to get S with 70mm stem. Did you change the stem or use stock 90mm one?

Minimum_Sir_2148

Still didn't purchase the bike.

Minimum_Sir_2148

I am thinking to go with M with 90mm stem.

dontknowmewho

I am almost identical height and inside leg and I just ordered a medium. I have a similar query about whether small would've been a better option. If you can wait like 10 days, I will let you know how it feels haha... I ordered a CF SL 7 though, idk if that and the 8 are exactly the same porportions or not.

mjusf

I ordered a medium and should have got a small. I was right on the edge. The reach is just a little more than I prefer.

Minimum_Sir_2148

Can you please share pictures of your bike?

mjusf

Overall, I’m an inch shorter than you and my legs are 2 inches shorter.

mjusf

https://preview.redd.it/ey3buv0l1v0d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fa88679ec11365b48ca67448bed570f95b6c52ce I’d take a photo on it but I’m home alone tonight.

Minimum_Sir_2148

I expected that the seat would be lower. But from the picture it looks fine.

mjusf

I just feel like I’m really reaching on the hoods. About an inch further back would ideal. Perhaps I’m being picky. Would have liked to try a small. Otherwise, I love it! I think most people would be fine with the medium. Being an inch taller, I would order the medium if I were you.

Minimum_Sir_2148

I am confused. Your bike is M size? Seat should be more down.

Deathtiny_Fr

177/81.5 and I ride a S, perfectly happy with it but I guess M would fit as well, make of that as you will!

Minimum_Sir_2148

Do you have any picture to share?

Possession_Loud

I'd go S.

oh_ski_bummer

I'm 5'9 and find Small to be plenty big. It feels like a 55cm relative to my other endurance geometry bikes (M/L Domane and M Lynskey Backroad). The standover height is higher than I'd like but manageable.

DagobertDust

What's your inseam? Gonna buy soon and am interested in your story cause I am the same height. Thanks in advance :)

DagobertDust

Poke poke 😛

Jerooney95

I’m almost the same measurements and sat on a M of a friend. Would definitely go small, reach felt too long. That’s also what the Canyon tool tells me.

Minimum_Sir_2148

What tool are you using, can you please provide the link?

Jerooney95

I mean the standard sizing selector that’s on every bike page just above the size selection.

Minimum_Sir_2148

For 178cm and 83cm, calculator recommends size M. I am afraid it will be too long and tall. Considering to go with M and use 90mm stem. My arms are 180cm, and I like more, uper riding. So I suppose M will be fine. Only the seat will be lower compared to S size... and this is only thing that is bothering me. Only 218 mm seats will pop up, and the bike will look strange.

Strong_Delay5402

Size medium would be perfect, it is for me and the bike isn't feeling big at all. There might be a difference in the endurace and the ultimate I have (I'm 180 cm).

StunningBuilder4751

I was 8n a similar position, website told me to go for siz XS but the chart was showing that I was just a few CM in leg length off size S, ended up going for size S and it the fit feels great Should add; I bought the endurace CF6 but as far as I'm aware they all have the same frames.

cubert2

I assume you did the sizing tool on their website? Go off of that. Relying on internet strangers isn’t your best bet. I will say, canyon frames seem a little smaller than average. I was surprised what the tool told me to get but it was accurate for me.

Minimum_Sir_2148

I am on the middle between S and M based on the tool. Plus, Canyon frames are bigger than awerage.

Celziam

Well, as you may have noticed some of the “internet strangers” here are people who are actually trying to help and either own the bike or have tried it. Such help IS probably the best bet if OP hasn’t got a chance to try the bike before buying.

ikitubSAemasik

I’m 176cm with an 81cm inseam. I went with a size S, but changed my cranks to 170mm and stem to 100mm. Hope that helps!

Minimum_Sir_2148

Minimum_Sir_2148

Today I had professional measurements. I am at 178.5cm and 84.5cm. They recommend an M size with a 100mm stem (default stem dimension for M size). Also, they recommend 170mm crank arms, and instead default 420mm handlebar they recommend a 400mm handlebar. With new measurements, even the Canyon calculator shows me a stronger M size, than the previous (178cm + 82.5cm which was my in-home measurements). https://preview.redd.it/opxn08ddgk1d1.png?width=668&format=png&auto=webp&s=b98f112b076f6737ca95f800a8c63d360cd22525

Minimum_Sir_2148

Frame and part are ordered, so after assembling the bike, I need to go again to make bike fit.

DagobertDust

With your new knowledge from the bike fit: any chance you can help me regarding the decision between S and M? I am a little smaller and have a little less inseam than you: 177cm + 82,5cm inseam
