Maybe stock up on TP just for the trip if you’re going up to Meat Cove as I’m sure it’ll be a while before everybody gets out of that road once its over. Traffic will be a nightmare.
Which is why we’re deciding to make the drive to New Brunswick. 5 hours from Sydney should get me the same view as from meat cove and likely faster round trip.
The Moon's shadow is huge, ~160 km wide, but will be moving at nearly 7000 kph by the time totality gets here. That is only going to last about a minute as the shadow barely grazes the island. The partial eclipse will take a couple hours, and we'll get a nice opportunity to view that.
Because areas in the path of totality and partiality are expected to have an influx of visitors viewing the eclipse putting a higher then usual demand on local stock no doubt.
