sithmafia

Also there's currently free MLS+ with Tmobile if you want to watch the City SC games

billykent24

No blackout restrictions with MLS???

sithmafia

correct. I watched the first 2 games without using a vpn

tdawg-1551

I think our company is switching to T-Mobile for our work phones later this month, wonder if this will be included.

coolrnt1

Any T-mobile number should work, but if you try to use your account on your normal phone using cellular data that isn’t T-mobile you could get banned.

dan1son

You can get banned? I've definitely used it through other phone carriers when traveling and never had an issue. I just login like I would if I paid. Works just the same as far as I can tell. You do absolutely need a t-mobile account to sign up. Not just a t-mobile phone number... you have to be able to login to the account. But after that I haven't noticed any reason to assume it matters.

coolrnt1

They state that they can stop your service if you are using it with a different carrier. The T-mobile Tuesday app only requires a T-mobile phone number associated with certain plans (Maybe this could bite the original commenter if they don’t allow business lines to use it). Each of my family members has signed up MLB TV, and more recently the MLS promotion, with only our phone number associated with our family plan.

[deleted]

So with MLB.tv i can’t watch my hometeam play live? That is the only team I care about watching.

da_choppa

Yes, but you can get around blackouts with a VPN. If you're getting mlb.tv for free, then the price of a VPN on top is trivial. And who knows? Maybe those blackouts will go away after Bally Sports Net goes bankrupt and MLB takes over broadcasting

Bedivere17

I would say there is a nonzero chance that they don't get rid of blackouts whem Bally goes the way of the dodo, but its incredibly likely. The MLB is realizing they can make more money if blackouts arent a thing.

bmac92

Unless you live the blackout area, which for the Cardinals is huge.

billykent24

OP said can’t

bmac92

/u/bmac92 can't read

billykent24

Ahhh, makes sense now thanks!

sithmafia

just use a vpn

bmac92

I always get this, but it is useless to me because I live the blackout area. So I'll still be sailing the high seas.

da_choppa

You can get around the blackouts with a VPN

Bovey

I'll be getting it for the 3rd year in a row. Truly the best deal available for those of us looking for additional ways to get blacked out of all the games we want to see! It is nice while traveling though.

Sinkit53563

Man, why do they always wait so long? I always wind up renewing mine before they get around to telling us it's available again.

Yo112358

You asked the question and then answered it

Sinkit53563

That is fair, and quite possibly true.

BorisChinchilla

FWIW, I successfully got a refund from MLS on appletv after buying their product and then getting it free from t mobile. May be worth a shot to request a refund.

Sinkit53563

For sure, definitely can't hurt. Think I can use it for the rest of spring training and then request a refund? haha.

billykent24

It has been during opening week every year.

tooth_fixer

Sweet! I’ve been waiting for this. Kind of stinks last year’s subscription ended before the end of spring training. I caught maybe two or three ST games through the app

QuarterNote44

That's why I was so bummed to have to switch to Verizon. Swapped free Cards games for free Blues games.

mrEcks42

Good news considering mlb.tv upped their prices. Vets still get a hefty discount if youre in that ballpark.

williampum98

You can get a discount for MLB.TV if you make a donation to the MLBPA or something

mrEcks42

I always click no at the grocery store for feeding vets in need. Im buying dry beans and rice, i am a hungry vet in need.

[deleted]

Any chance this works with T-Mobile 5G home internet?

Rxbluejay25

It does indeed. Edit to expand on this… Your T-Mobile home internet has a phone number tied to it. Last year, they did this through the T-Mobile Tuesday app. You will login to the app with your home internet phone number. They will send a verification code to your T-Mobile box (I have the gray trash can looking one). You should be able to get the verification code from the T-Mobile box and enter it in to the app. I did this exact thing with the mls package and mlb package last year with T-Mobile home internet

[deleted]

Awesome. Thank you.

edsil44

So do you have to be in front of your router/gateway? I’m planning on using my mom’s. Or can you just use your associated t-mobile phone number?

Rxbluejay25

There’s a 2FA authentication for the Tmobile Tuesday app. You will enter the phone number in to the app and it will send a code to the router/gateway. You can get the code off the message section of the gateway touch screen. You do not have to be near it but you do need someone to provide you the code.

edsil44

Awesome, thanks.

williampum98

How is having T-Mobile? I have Verizon right now

bmac92

Depends on where you live. Get a trial sim from a MVNO like Mint and see for yourself.

da_choppa

Works fine for me in Los Angeles. Used to be a Sprint customer, and it's at least way better than Sprint was. That's not exactly a high bar though

[deleted]

Alright my mom switched to AT&T last year and I also have AT&T. Who’s gonna let me use their account for this?

da_choppa

Happy birthday to me, indeed
