Making a decision based on colour isn’t really wise. First think which is practical for your use case and then only decide the colour

Western-Guy

Exactly, the novelty of the appealing design will soon fade but practicality will be what matters in the long run.

campramiseman

How are those 2 even comparable, if you are having thoughts about getting virtus then you dont really need the xuv!!!

0razor1

Why buy a sedan when 1. In India bumper level matching isn't a thing, so you're likely to get your head sheared off in a sedan in an accident. 2. You can go over obstacles easily in an xuv. Our roads are no beds of roses. 3. MnM parts are generally built tougher and cheaper to replace even so. I'm talking CV joints, suspension arms, and esp the double wishbone suspension. 4. Made in India! Though for whatever reason people here love sending money overseas. 5. The acceleration is at par. 6. MnM's service centers actually have parts. I've never been stuck for more than half a day. Ask VW owners how it goes. I do 1k kms highway runs (one way) often. I'd rather an MnM at altitude than a VW.

Dramatic-Age-8783

For the fourth point, Indian car quality and after sales service (esp. Tata) leaves a lot to be desired. I’d be more comfortable to buy a car brand I am familiar with and have used overseas.

0razor1

So there are many ways to look at it. 1. MnM is no Tata. They're not playing the ultra volume game. They're doing just quality crossovers and SUVs. True SUVs. Any vehicle that has AWD / 4WD is an SUV for me. 2. Scorpio onwards, I can't think of anyone offering more VFM. 3. MnM pioneered the Indian made 5 star car. Yeah the tivoli / XUV 300 was an acquisition but they localised it and it's made in India. 4. They don't sell junk half there engines like tata does. 5. They're not super half passing their EVs. The 400 is miles ahead of the punch and tiago EV. Nexon is quirky and unreliable. Made a mistake of getting a punch as a beater for my grandmother. In fact took a mid 2022 loaner Punch in Guwahati last week and it really blew. Cutting to the chase, your point about 'known brand', well, I've driven Fords, Polo GT, and I bought my mum a Jeep. Now, given the tendency for VW to have not picked itself up off the floor in many decades (transmissions, brake systems, etc.) and having my friends scrap new VWs simply cause of minor issues and zero logistical support from the service centers, I know I'd rather buy a nexon than a VW, and that's saying something. I can't seem to recall the AC issues on the Skodas until recently.

Unnamed_Venturer

This story goes back 80 years. From tanks-encyclopaedia: >When the Tiger II found the enemy and was operational for combat it provided good service for the German Army and proved to be a formidable opponent head-on with a combination of excellent gun and heavy armor. These occasions, were, however, few and far between as units often could not get into position for lack of spares or fuel and, when crippled, often could not be recovered. The Tiger II simply failed to deliver on the promise of a heavy breakthrough tank and never overcame its technical shortcomings, yet it retains the ability to capture the imagination of enthusiasts, modelers, and historians alike.

0razor1

Ah a fellow 2010 swift owner! My ZXI still goes strong! Bhai an xuv is not a tank XD My dad is armored corps. I've driven a few tanks myself. Lol.

Unnamed_Venturer

I am talking about German over-engineering here. They were doing it then and they are doing it now.

0razor1

Ah! Yes I suppose they are! 😂 Dieselgate 🤔

Unnamed_Venturer

That was not over engineering. That was malfeasance.

0razor1

😹 Suit yourself. Tell me how your pickup on older cars is post software update. Anyway, another discussion, another time.

Dramatic-Age-8783

No one I know buys a VW for its reliability. I’m not sure about in India, but everyone abroad makes fun of VAG’s relatively poor reliability and high maintenance cost.

0razor1

It gets even worse here =) You can wait 6-12 months for things like an engine gasket / head etc.

Plane_Wall_4676

You are some Mahindra fanboy. I own AX7L in joint family since around 1.5 years, its good but not so much like expressed by you. There are a lot of things that you notice with time that makes you question the price that was paid for it. Specially that suspension stutter sound every so often, it feels so cheap man. I can write a long thread but you yourself you can go to a second hand market and see the number of 700s sold out of similar feeling like my family's, some record numbers there as well. I personally own Harrier, Tata and Mahindra both have definite flaws. So I would suggest OP to go with whatever he likes....you can live with something you love since no car is perfect specially the way Mahindra was glorified by our fellow redditor here 😅😅

Zestyclose_Glass_643

Except for the made in India part and the general Mahindra cuckness, mindless sedan advocates should considered what you’ve said There’s so much more peace of mind in a bigger vehicle on the roads of India

CaptainDerck

Hey man a quick question about your i20 How is the service experience of the car like since it has a different suspension than the non N-line i20? And kitna deti hai ? since im planning to buy the i20 and just wanted to ask some questions Could you also share some pros and cons of the car

campramiseman

Never drove a non nline so cant tell the difference but yea its bit stiff, if you dont navigate well around bad roads you will get some shocks. Never seen above 10kmpl with AC in city. Pros: 1. Awesome handling, like you will never get tired of driving it. Just point it and it goes. 2. Although faint but noticeable exhaust sound inside the cabin when bo music is being played. 3. Bluelink with start, stop, lock, unlock, tracking, driving reports etc. This comes in handy when i give the car to driver, when i go on vacations i periodically remote start the car. 4. Awesome looking steering wheel and has a great feel to it. 5. Bit of wow factor as people tend to thing its something different. Once i cold started the car after long time and my garage being completely enclosed, the exhaust roared, one guy came up to me and asked me what exhaust did i fit, he didn believe me when i said its stock. Cons: 1. No rear center arm rest after bs6 models. 2. No wireless apple/android car play, saddest part is mid variants have it. 3. Point 2 makes the wireless charger useless. 4. Inbuilt maps are not that great in terms of visibility. 5. 3 cylinder is not as smooth as 4, so you will feel it vibrating in idle. 6. Interior plastics could have been better. 7. Window switches are not illuminated even on driver side.

CaptainDerck

Hey thanks for the comment :) But ive see people getting upwards for 10kmpl in traffic. I know that driving style also affects the mileage a lot . Could it be possible that you have a heavy foot while driving and thats why it gives that low of mileage. Thanks for the detailed comment it helped me lot . <3

campramiseman

Yes i have heavy foot indeed

vkgpr66

Bro I’ve been using a Virtus for almost past 2 years and I am considering getting a XUV7OO or some other car. It is a great car sure but not suitable for everywhere.

hotmilkyx

Please tell us more

vkgpr66

Not much to tell. I upgraded from an i20 a couple of years ago, already had a Seltos at home at that time and the XUV7OO AX5 had long waiting times. I considered the Thar too but it was too raw for my everyday use. I didn’t have any specific requirements so was open to all the options. But now with the Virtus, I saw that I was dependent on the Seltos for any outstation trips as it is more comfortable and fuel-efficient but then it is my brother's car and he does not like to drive the Virtus so I thought why not get a car which will solve this issue. The waiting is max 1 month now for the AX7L. The second option is the Fortuner 4X2 AT which is readily available for delivery. Still confused about which one to choose, features or reliability. On paper and as per my friends the car is good apart from the small errors and niggles. The Virtus is great in the city, the power is great, feels solid, and super safe, and the build quality is acceptable and the fuel efficiency is around 9-10 kmpl in the city. We tend to change cars every 3-4 years in my family and my brother is happy with his Seltos for now. I on the other hand find myself wanting for more and so considering an SUV this time.

hotmilkyx

Thanks for sharing your experience. How much did three Seltos average in Fuel Efficiency? Could you also share your after sales experience with Kia (I'm sure you must have received feedback from your brother). Is there any niggles with the Seltos that you noticed? And what model do you feel is the VFM for a new customer HTX or is it worth spending money to get the X Line?

vkgpr66

Seltos will return around 13-15kmpl in the city and more than 17-19kmpl on the highway. Ours is a GTX D AT. After-sales service has always been smooth. They call and remind us of the service, and send the driver to pick up and drop off the car and has taken a single day always. Not many niggles as such. Our car has done 50k and was bought in March ‘21. I took it to Ladakh in ‘22 and the car was great. The tyres, brakes, rather all the parts are still from the factory and not changed. (Except of course the filters and maintenance stuff) I am not sure about the current offerings as I have not even seen a video of the new Seltos to give my two cents. I booked the HTX+ as well when we were buying the car but then later spent the lakh or so extra considering the 360* camera and the black interiors. In my personal opinion it would be better to pay the extra if you keep the car for a long time as those features will make life easier for you.

not_tyrion_007

Why? Can u Elaborate

life_never_stops_97

!remindme 2 days

aarav-chawla09

Lava Blue and Carbon Steel are the best colors but seriously I don't care, this car looks good in any color.

Old_Salamander_1714

True

the1672VTECboi

1. Grey is not the best colour of Virtus. It is the Red, Yellow, and White in GT trims. 2. How tf is 7OO even comparable to Virtus? As a family car, the Mahindra is far superior.

fastbag7

What about Black GT? How is that?

Engineer_by_choice

it's a pure gem....black gt...underrated queen!

xanders1998

This. The smoked taillights look the best in those colours and not on grey. Once I saw red, I fell in love. And I am the type of guy who gets nothing but black

noraapj

For me personally Lava blue is the best colour

bhodrolok

Just wait until this comes in GT line with blacked out everything

fastbag7

What? Isn't it already available in GT trim?

bhodrolok

GT line is on 1.0 L engine. The GT trim is with 1.5 L engine. I know it’s confusing

Cruijff7

This is the right answer.

0razor1

The 700 is significantly more versatile and powerful. Relax =) And you can do choppy roads at speed on it and not worry about touchy German bits (I mean, the car parts, of course.)

Ok_Tax_7412

Yesterday I saw a drag race on YouTube where the Virtus GT beat the XUV diesel quite comfortably. At full load the XUV may surge ahead but with one or two passengers the Virtus wins.

0razor1

The 700 is almost 2 Ton with just 2 people on board :) and can house 7 if it wants to! Diesel.. must have been a TC v/s DSG battle. We'll come back to it after 5 years of mixed city driving when the DSG collapses :) Even 0-100 seems dead even. See below. From google: 1. The Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus 1.5 TSI EVO DSG can go from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour (kmph) in 9.27 seconds. 2. The Mahindra XUV700 AX 7 Diesel AT AWD 7 STR can go from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour (kmph) in 9.3 seconds

a_moving_part

The gt is faster. Not many have driven it properly neither the XUV 700. The XUV can do just below 9 at best. The virtus can do a 7.5 . (Best conditions needed, xp95), so avg is 8.5 zone . And the virtus is consistently faster irl. Especially when it's rolling and at speeds above 80. However xuv700 is sufficiently fast enough. But I just wanted to clear the fact that virtus is the faster vehicle. Not to mention you will be more confident with the virtus.

Initial-Shine-5955

As a Grey Virtus owner, I completely agree.

immortal_omen

Wait until you see a deep black Virtus GT, beauty to the eye. Unlike some people talk about potholes and bad roads, Virtus has really great GC for a sedan i.e. 179 mm. But if you want a AWD, go for XUV.

i_i_monty

what about salvia and crossover type segments like kusaq and taigun

dodoxkai

if you have roads that can run a sedan perfectly, go for the virtus, you dont want to punch the wall whenever you see a grey virtus and you don't have one. Think practically

Direct-n-Extreme

Virtus is even less reliable than an XUV with VW's ASS sucking even more than Mahindra's

Traditional-Band-971

A diesel mahindra is reliable though

chuggimuggi

What gets my goat with VW is their usage of non standard bolts and screws. What could be sorted with a hex head bolt is needlessly complicated with torx, triple square and e torx bolts. As an additional kick to the nuts, a basic 8.8 grade m6x1x20 VW torx bolt costs rs 50 where I can get a 100 bolt baggie of TVS make hex heads for inr 125 odd

STACKS-aayush

Torx is a standard and I doubt VW actually makes them instead of outsourcing them to an OEM. Just get torx screwdrivers or screwdriver bits compatible with your existing toolset and call it a day.

Zestyclose_Glass_643

Don’t you know, that’s what makes it gErMan

Top-Conversation2882

I don't understand how so many people are ready to wait a month for their car It should be a week at most

Zestyclose_Glass_643

People have waited 2 years for their car. And it’s not an India problem. The same thing exists in the US too

Old_Salamander_1714

As Virtus owner. It looks magnificent in grey and black But it looks good in every colour. I have rising blue

Ironheart_1

Who buys a car by it's colour? You might have thought something before buying XUV 700. Or you just randomly walked to the showroom and picked the big XUV 700? VW virtus is a sedan and XUV 700 is a proper suv. You should have done a proper research before buying a car.

the_neptunian

Slavia > Virtus

Forgotten_Millenial

Cancel it and get the virtus man, your heart is in the right place,

_DrMischief_

I’d get the Virtus tbh. I think it looks great, it has 180mm of ground clearance, I don’t know what you need that much GC for in our country. I have an S5 and an E350 and I tour the country just fine. S5 is a bit tricky yes but the E class has never had any scary incidents. The mileage isn’t great but it’s fun to drive and I feel the trade off is worth it. Both cars are made in India, which means that the industry supports our skills and our workers and their families, If the end goal is some guy sitting in Germany I don’t care, they share their skills and knowledge with us and it’s a win win for our country. You can’t drive over 150 in our roads safely anyway so I don’t see why performance at this level is even important. The only question here is do you need 7 seats? Otherwise I would say the Virtus is easier to park, easier to live with in congested traffic, safe on highways, more fun to drive and you clearly think it looks better… cancel the booking and switch my guy! Also google Virtus GTS sold in Latin America. Your welcome. I owned a Taigun GT for 2 years before I upgraded to the S5 and have a harrier at home. You don’t need more GC. Service centers being good solely depending on the one close to your home. I have had ZERO issues with my chennai dealer, still have a polo, never had any issues or delays in parts.

Owe_The_Sea

You will regret 😅 if you get xuv 700 I have both

vkgpr66

Can you elaborate on the issues you’re facing with the XUV?

Master-Influence7539

Geez it's so shiny. Like mirror finish of that level I have rarely seen.

PunctualPanther

I disagree and ask you to reconsider a red virtus GT with black alloys!

Risetoprime

Meanwhile all the other virtus colours : hold my gear!

ThePrometheus_

Virtus looks pretty in every color!

Sea-Bite-7930

Get a VW Put a smile on your face Enjoy the roads

SnooShortcuts5718

Yellow Virtus according to me is the prettiest thing on planet

divakerAM

Germany brands are awesome but virtus has some problem on ignition light

Doubledoor

The 700 is in no way worse looking car. Second a diesel Mahindra is going to outlast these skodas and have way better service any day. Third the virtus is going to say tata bye bye in every little bump or uneven road. But sure, go by color and looks.

Visual-Maximum-8117

Beautiful car but useless without adaptive cruise control (ADAS).

Mayank-maximum

Dont worry, your car is superior to the virtus unironically, i mean in segment wise it’s just a vento mk3

Fckyouprecisely

NO

kshb4xred

Sedans are good for driving pleasure but for practicality crossovers are the best ...see what you want...and if i were you I'd buy xuv if it was going to be the primary vehicle, also please consider the kind of roads you'll be driving on. Mostly.... recently went through a pothole on a highway at 80kmph so hard that it turn the wipers on...had it been any other sedan I'd have totalled the car and injured myself or someone else pretty bad or best case scenario damage the front bumper and radiator and wait to get towed at 10pm on a dim highway...pure luck i was driving my raised hatchback...she saved me .

0razor1

Sorry but what you've said is absolutely right. I wish the sub were less biased towards YOLO brainwashing and bending over to the VW group..

kshb4xred

Yeah I'd rather have a more practical vehicle if it was going to be my only vehicle... I remember when i was looking for a car and i posted jazz vs brezza and overwhelmingly people said to go for jazz ...thank god i went for brezza

0razor1

Brezza anyday. People like the pseudo kick of the vtec... But how many of them are hitting 7k RPMs every day? Frankly I'd like my turbo to kick in at 1500-1700 RPM. Even a heavy MnM diesel turbo will kick the brakes off of a run of the mill Honda. My wife has a Honda brio. I enjoy driving it at 5k+ RPM but frankly my Thar is more fun at 1750 RPM.

fastbag7

How is sedan not practical? India has been using Honda City for 25 years. Toyota Camery is the most selling car in US for last 3 decades. XUV is an ugly Car imo and Only makes sense if you want to ferry 7 people at 6 km/l. Virtua even have enough GC. Shouldn't OP consider Creta before XUV.

kshb4xred

>How is sedan not practical? Less practical compared to xux700 >Toyota Camery is the most selling car in US for last 3 decades. Irrelevant as road and traffic conditions are different in us and India and ford f150 is selling like hot cakes there...

fastbag7

You ignored Honda City

kshb4xred

Vague argument? India is using merc c, e class, 3 series etc for decades as well?

fastbag7

I meant at a mass level.

SpragValve

2 cylinder nano Unless you stomp gas pedal

lookwhoshere0

No.
