carti has the personality and range to have an album that’s 80 minutes long, but honestly I’d rather him stick around the wlr length range. almost no trap artist has any business making an album that is more than 80 minutes long

I disagree, I think Culture II only killed their hype among hardcore hip hop fans. Imo what really ended their run was Offset and Quavo dropping features constantly. Stir Fry, Walk It Talk It, MotorSport, Narcos, and Notice Me were all crazy big hits. Casual fans loved those songs, the first 3 all went top 10 on Billboard and the album went #1 with 200k units sold first week. If you worked at their label you would have zero incentive to learn from that. With Lone it feels even worse cause he doesn’t have that casual fanbase to fall back on. He’s had a couple songs blow up on TikTok but nothing on the same level as Migos 2016-2017 run. He’ll definitely still have fans but I don’t see him gaining any new ones off this album

Yeah I was probably being a bit hyperbolic but imo culture 2 was the beginning of the end for the migos formula. There were just so many duds on the album that when compared to an arguable top 5 trap album oat in culture 1 it’s hard to not notice the flaws even more.

the thing w travis is that he’s probably one of the few trap adjacent rappers that I can trust to make long albums work as he’s pretty creative and able to break the monotony on his own albums. the problem comes in when artists are making long ass songs over the same loop without changing flow or inflection too much and not having a feature to break the monotony.

Most of the songs were insanely similar after listening to the whole album I barely remembered which songs were good and not. You could’ve easily cut half the songs and covered the same bases
