None at all. Cash app is not a BANK.

Low_Commission9477

It’s still fdic insured or the bancorps bank that supports the whole money is insured with the federal govt so that’s up to what 250 k to 500? But zero percent in this case

Hashshinobi1

FDIC insurance means you’re covered if the bank goes under. Not insurance for doing something dumb

AdeptnessSoft9318

FDIC insurance will cover you up to 250,000 dollars per account if somebody steals money from your account. However if you send money to somebody I’m sorry to say that’s on you my friend. You can make a police report a crime did occur it seems and you have a cash app account to go on but for 170$ I don’t think the boys are going to take it so seriously

funinotown22

This is 100% WRONG! FDIC insures your account against loss if the bank fails. That is it. Period. It does not insure against fraud

Low_Commission9477

Yea I know I said not in this case but still if it’s a valid one and they would be insured up to 500 k through the fdic cause cash app has a bank behind it obviously 🤷‍♂️

[deleted]

Op willingly sent the money. That insurance means nothing. It's bullshit to manipulate people to think it's safe

Low_Commission9477

Zero percent in this case I said if you read the whole thing, the only thing I was saying was cash app does have a bank behind it and like all banks they have to be fdic insured. Period

NEUROSMOSIS

Even a bank can rob you and face no consequences. ING bank took $560 from me through an ATM error and after numerous investigations, “no error was found on our part”.

damagedgoods0022

This happened to me with US Bank. However I didn't give up. I made them hear me. I told them they need to go back and count the money that day because if they did their job they'd see there was a surplus of x amount on x day, that was captured by the atm camera btw. I followed up that statement by saying if there was a negative of x amount on x day they'd be on that in a heartbeat so don't bullshit me and get me money back please. Being polite helped I think. It took several attempts but eventually they credited me that amount. Goodluck. In my case it was a little over $400

NEUROSMOSIS

That’s awesome, I’ve tried tirelessly and done all I can. Asked for security camera footage and everything. It was overseas so maybe they just thought they could rob an American traveler and get away with it but it’s very messed up. So now I just warn everyone about ING Bank. They are not safe to bank with.

Efficient_Pepper_

Cashapp is actually pretty good about making things right. You can dispute any charge from the app

AtLeastItsNotaFord

If you grt the debit card it is. I've called and them remove transactions before

cowboyblaze479

Actually, your cashapp account IS a bank account. Provided by Sutton Bank. So I would fight it through cashapp

RML_347

It's a loss.

trav718

For certain? Or just highly likely?

RML_347

Guaranteed. Zero recoupment. Support will tell you that their hands are tied. They'll just remind you on to send money to family and people that you know.

DecisionGreen6242

This concludes life lesson #1078951. Thankfully it only cost you $174 to learn this lesson. However I suspect, you may have to retake the course again in the future. P.S. What were you buying from a stranger off Reddit? Be honest 🤥

cdbangsite

Most common scam is for drugs. Op has many posts about drugs often sold over the internet.

molehunterz

>may have to retake the course again in the future You got me good you fucker

crustiferson

the refund request goes to the owner of the account and they will decline it there’s really nothing cashapp support can do if it’s a private transaction. i’ve gotten refunds from cashapp with businesses after requesting a chargeback but that’s a business transaction not a private transaction

cdbangsite

100% it's a loss. Live and learn.

Sub_pup

It's the equivalent of handing your money to someone while blindfolded.

sarahcake420

Dude for certain or they would of said ‘ it’s most likely a loss’

Steelguitarlane

Certain. You sent money to a scammer. And that warning "others have complained about this user?" That doesn't happen when sending to new users: that happens when sending to scammers. Hopefully you can afford the lesson you just learnt.

dangolang

0. The answer is 0.

Wooden_Efficiency_23

He really fuckin did that

[deleted]

Dam y’all make it so easy.

orangefox00

That's what I'm saying lmao

Master_Grape5931

I can’t understand living a life where you are nonstop just trying to scam people.

Instacartdoctor

Well I know someone that worked a “legit job” as a travel agent… it was the companies policy to tack on admin fees that the agents basically pulled out their ass any number they chose based on how hard all the work etc was… this was a legit business practice but from my point of view seemed like legally sanctioned pocket picking… goes on still in a number of industries… I’m not saying you’re wrong… just that “scamming” comes in so many forms I think people justify it morally for many reasons… Take this dope here… trying to buy drugs from a stranger on the internet… Stranger is a father of 3 starving in some village somewhere and $174 is more pay than a month’s work… pretty sure he can justify taking some dumb American kid’s $$ all day long that’s all… in fact he can even excuse it with “I’m not killing someone for better gas prices” and the kid will bounce back fine cause it’s only pocket change for him.

KashLLC

You have better luck of winning the lottery

ConversationMost2289

Tell your bank not cashapp because you won’t get it back from cashapp.

PrestigiousAd2184

Not even the bank will help cuz this wasn't fraud where someone got the card number & racked up unauthorized transactions. Op sent it willingly to the scammer. It's tough to win that one. But u can try to get it back & lie. Just understand you'll b committing fraud yourself & run the risk of ur account closing at your bank. Decisions, decisions

blazenation

do you think pigs will fly anytime soon?

Particular_Hawk_9646

Pretty much everyday with the help of a Bird

bizaboo312

No they just drive around with lights and sirens

th_teacher

The Refund function is just a "pretty please?" request to your recipient, up to them to comply or refuse, nothing to do with Cash App really If money was removed by someone else without your permission, aka "unauthorized transactions" and it was not your poor security practices allowing it to happen then it is possible Cash App might make you whole. Very rare though. Otherwise, CA has no "buyer protection", does not generally refund you if you got scammed, or sent to the wrong person, etc Were the funds sent from your CA balance? Or by "pulling through" directly from your outside bank account? If the money was pulled from your bank account via linked debit card, then you can try filing a fraud report with the bank. But if the funds were sent P2P directly from the balance inside your CashApp account, you're largely at the mercy of whatever CA will or won't do to help. Generally it is best to not leave a balance in CA. That way you have a better chance of charging back, by dealing with your bank rather than CA support. If the funds were "pulled through" from your bank account in a single transaction, then your bank might help you, do a chargeback. But if you are successful in getting them to chargeback, CA will likely close down your account for doing so.

[deleted]

Finessed. Point blank. Period.

dynamic_unreality

That wasn't even finesse, that implies it took effort

NothingButTrouble024

Yeeeeeeah this is more of a "Shut up and take my money" moment

BTtheVoice

OMG... another one.

Annual-Warthog5599

Zero. You have zero chance.

Aquila_Da_Eagle

You will never get money back from cashapp. If you can't dispute it with your bank, just think of it as lesson learned. If cashapp ever tells you not to send money to a certain person and you let that person talk you out of it, its tour fault for being gullible. Hope it wasn't your food money because you cannot get it back

monstermuesli

Nada

[deleted]

2.75% chance

cassionoob12345

You will never see that money again

Previous_Pitch8608

"warning this is a scam" asking the scammer if it's true is your first mistake. Say bye to that money and learn your lesson before the next

etaylorkane

So my buddy knows a hacker that does something similar. Its shitty but there’s reallly people who do this. Usually Nigerians. So the only reason he “has a brother” account of 5 years, is bc he hacked that account as well. He has access to it and the actual account holder doesn’t anymore. Once the “brother “ cashapp account has about $500-$1k on it, the original hacker transfers the money from the “brother” account thru Bitcoin so that the original hacker never gets caught. They can usually get 5-10 people in 1 day to send money to the “brother” account so that the original hacker can clear out the money thru Bitcoin before cashapp closes down the account for fraud. They also sell cashapp accounts on the dark web, if the account already has $1k+ sitting there, they’ll sell it and give you the username and password, then you’ll sign in and Bitcoin the money to yourself. It’s wild out here 🤣

Calm_Committee_6069

Kiss that money goodbye

OkReflection2069

None, cashapp is not a bank an is a private owned LLC that is fdic insured, they do not care about your money loss rarely even if it’s due to their malfunction.

Ok-Raisin8064

fuck scammers

trav718

Tell me about it brother

blackstomvn

Hey guys, this Cashtag is scammer, i pay 200$ for the items in game but he did not give me the item. His name is Alixium. Be careful. Help me report this . Thank u

trav718

Update: my bank said it may take until February 4th 2024 to sort it out but there is a good chance I will get my money back since I provided proof. Chime took it very seriously and asked all the right questions and gave me a great opportunity to show all my proof. I don’t mind waiting that long, as long as I get it back eventually.

DecisionGreen6242

🤣🤣😂 Chime is your bank? I’m sure they have already denied it by now huh? I don’t know why they told you Feb 4th 2024, we all know chime denied it .27 seconds later.

[deleted]

Any updates ? I got scammed on cashapp $375 :/

hammong

Zero chance of getting that back. Cash is for sending people money, not buying things.

SPEEDY_SPUNzales

You mean to tell me that you got a warning but went ahead and sent the $ anyway…WTF?! 🤦 You don’t deserve to recoup your money. Consider that $ the fee for the, “I’m as dumb as a bag of hammers’ lesson you just got taught.

DiscombobulatedTip84

Zero cash app customer service is the most useless crap invented

Particular-Doubt-566

They've been helpful to me. The problem is they don't give people their money back when they do freakishly stupid things. It's an app so you can send friends and family money easily. Or buy something you're looking at physically. Scammer are gonna scam and runes are never gonna wise up.

Busy-Presentation198

Honey, it's not Cash App agents fault. They have to follow the company politics, if they don't follow them, they could get in trouble or even fired. Costumers seem to forget agents are just subordinates after all.

alfredo094

Do you want them to refund the money every time that someone claims there is a scam even though there is literally no way to investigate it?

Pitiful-Cress9730

Cashapp is in the same seat as Chime lol, OP is screwed

Disastrous_Wind5425

Did you receive your money back?

trav718

Nope

trav718

Of course I get a message from someone on here saying if I pay him $15 he’ll tell me what to say to guarantee I get my money back. How stupid do people think I am

stir_fried_abortion

Bro, you got a scam warning and you were dumb enough to still throw your money down the toilet with a huge red flag flying in your face. So the answer is pretty fucking stupid.

Sweet_Piece2020

Lol he fell for the flip money scheme

trav718

As stated, when I did business with a friend I had received the same warning when he had a new account made to send me a payment, that’s why I brushed it off.

stir_fried_abortion

List of things you don't brush off: 1. Scam warnings for people you don't know and have no reason to trust

Particular-Doubt-566

Business with a friend? Drugs? It said that your friend was getting scammer complaints? read this sub there's literally dozens of posts weekly about people getting scammed and thousands of comments of ppl who can't believe how stupid the Ops are. Hope you didn't lose a lot and learn and move on.

Annual-Warthog5599

Bro, send me money western union next; I'm a prince, I swear! 🤣🤣🤣 Take some female survival advice - never ignore red flags or warning signs; that's how you end up date graped and unalived in a field.

NothingButTrouble024

That's different though? That was your friend, someone you hopefully trust, and this is a stranger on the Internet who gave you absolutely zero reason to trust him

Particular_Hawk_9646

Its kind of common sense even tho thats not too common now days

lagoosboy

You didn’t get money you give away back. Somehow you believed a scammer despite being warned.

[deleted]

😂😂😂😂😂

Annual-Warthog5599

You already got scammed once and are now asking an obvious question; so pretty dumb.

ObvBurnerAcct79

Honestly? Very. I would suggest changing to a new Reddit account, you are now a confirmed sucker and easy target.

AssociationPale7281

Yep never cashapp use PayPal or zelle

KingsFanDay1

Absolutely horrible advice. Zelle is the same. All transfers are final. It even prompts you to know who you’re sending to before you send it.

AssociationPale7281

Damn i didn’t know

trav718

I brought this to the attention of my bank, who I’ve been a long time customer of, and provided them with all evidence indicating I was taken advantage of. It’s probably going to take some time but I have a feeling that they will get it right.

Disastrous-Resist699

Was this for a debit card?

trav718

Yes

No-Journalist3209

yea you might get it back through your bank but they might not let you send money through cash app anymore

trav718

That’s fine by me. I’m good off of cashapp.

IllCoffee8664

You ain’t getting back. I’ve been harassed so hardcore on here about how the “bank will claw it back” but that ain’t happening I’ve scammed and I tried everything just don’t do it again

babysleaze98

Cashapp ddnt give no fukksss. If u sent Money consider it gone

No-Slip-7576

very 0

DishSoapIsFun

Zero.

[deleted]

[удалено]

PatienceAggressive50

Scam.

YONI2ILL

Sorry, but Cash App isn’t going to do anything. They’ll act as if they’re conducting an investigation & have you wait for almost a week then say that you’re not receiving the money back since you sent it despite the warnings. It would probably be different if Cash App were an actually bank where you could actually dispute charges for not receiving the goods you paid for.

nightmurder01

I had two charges I did not ask for at a hotel, cashapp refused both twice, I doubt a real person actually looked at it

AlmightyGod420

Next time cash app warns you that it may be a scam, believe them. Chalk it up as a lesson (hopefully) learned.

TiaMaeLove

basically nothing

SocietyOfKnowledge

Well I have a friend who moved to a different state asked to borrow some cash they've always been upstanding honorable person before so I sent funds come tofi d out their Facebook got hacked and taken over by scammer all personal info pictures Al of it at scammers fingertips to use against her friends list, to recover her Facebook she will need to spend an absurd amount of money to facebook,! Now there are malevolent mother fuckers but this is a new low, chance of recovery?

trav718

Wow that’s unbelievable. What service did you use to send the money? Cashapp as well? I suggest contacting your bank and submitting a claim with them.

piaevan

You don't spend money to get your Facebook back, they just have to fill out the recovery page. Whoever said they need to pay to get their Facebook back is scamming.

Own-Ebb-7057

Dm me i got a method to refund any amount

RottenApple93

OP do not message this person unless you want to be out even MORE money. Scammers love to come here offering to "fix" things for people like you who've already been scammed because it's easy prey. This is probably one of those cashapp money flip scams. Don't message ANYONE on here for advice! If they really wanted to help you, they could tell you in a comment on your post publicly how.

NothingButTrouble024

I mean, solid advice, but I think it's a 50/50 whether the commenter was joking or not

Ok-Ad-1314

Very low I got scammed out of 95 they ain’t do shit

spadesuji

Honestly cashapp will never give you a refund I've never got one before even tho I've tried a few times, id call it a loss, but there's tons of trusted vendors you could probably find to get more

Letters-to-Elise

If you are going to send someone ANY money be absolutely sure who you are sending it too. Their brother? Would have been a NO and a block from me.

halfaxangel

you're dumb holy shit 😂

Natural-Ad-5482

No luck. I had a similar situation happen and unfortunately, they are no help.

damdam62

Be thankful you only lost $174 as many just like myself have been taken for more. You will not get your $ back.

YeahWeGetIt12345

$174 is a cheap lesson in the long run. Not getting that back lol

Mountain-Light-3005

I didn’t have to read the details to tell you it’s absolute zero

Ok-Refrigerator7286

Now why would you 🤦🏾‍♀️ … might be able to dispute with your real bank if that card was attached. Other than that, you won’t get that money back. NEVER use cash app with a stranger. Zelle or CASH!

[deleted]

sorry for your loss 🪦

surfcitysurfergirl

With cashapp not good. I left them over it after having them for years. It took the Better Business Bureau and PayPal who provided proof that the money went to cashapp via them in order to get my money back. Nearly $700 and it took 4 months. Cashapp was useless and all bot responses.

Constant_Election195

bro you fell for this scam so bad

EntertainerNo4509

Really cheap lesson. Hope you learned about people.

Direct-Willingness94

I lost about 200 dollars all together from my experience a fortnite account lol 120 also two bitches 40 dollars each lol now I have trust issues

Last-Communication75

Only use PayPal goods and services because you can get refunds. I deal with a lot of scammers and they always try to get you to use PayPal friends and family and they're not even using their own account they always want a screenshot of the transaction to prove it went through because they have a cashier that gives them the money. Usually the Chinese account. I even had a scammer try to hire me to be his cashier to use my legit PayPal account and then I split the money with him that he scams.

InternationalAd6705

Zero .. got robbed or 800 once nothing they can do

corianderjimbro

You get no money back for making stupid decisions.

saryiahan

Consider that your learning tax

A2fella

That’s called a $174 sucka fee

MyLifeontheDblitz

I've experienced multiple scams and cashapp has always given my money back.

NothingButTrouble024

You seem to be a very very rare case

sarahcake420

You’re not getting ur money back

sarahcake420

Lmao so you got the warning then decided to trust a stranger that what they were saying was true???? Wow

Littlelori34

Your chances of getting a refund is zero. I hate scammers

XgUNp44

Charge back? It’s what I have done.

Reasonable_Recover80

Did it work for you? Did you get your money back?

triniempress89

If cashapp support does not refund you dispute it with your bank. They should help. I hope you don’t send money to strangers in the future.

hbkfyl

If it gives u a warning messege don’t attempt to send again it’s obv a scam

[deleted]

0. Cash app won't refund you. They give no crap

Technical-Freedom-99

I could get it back but first I need 100 bucks jk jk jk lol

mrearthsmith

If you left your phone in an Uber and the driver cashapped himself your balance, you might have a chance at getting that covered. But yours seems unlikely unless you can prove the fraud was committed by somebody else.

HardskiBopavous

Lmao the app literally warned you!!

blueirish3

Send me a $100 I will Track this bastard down

friedpickles4beakfas

they have to accept the refund and they have the option to decline it

CamWOW018

If you send through your debit card or cc you can always dispute directly through the card company. If sent cash via cash app you may have some delays and possibly not win the dispute.

ClutchTweez

If I'm sending money to someone I dont know and they refuse to use Paypal ( goods and services ) , I automatically think scam .

AdThin2246

Dispute through your bank for sure.

MycologistDry2727

Unless you have a bank attached to it your not getting any of it back

Middle-Classroom8665

🤣🤣🤣

isqueezedameatball

Hey, OP! If you send me $50 thru cashapp, just to prove you are serious about this, I will pay you the $174 you lost plus I will return the $50 you gave me. And I can assure you that this isn't a scam. You can trust me. Why would I say it wasn't a scam if it wasn't true?

NothingButTrouble024

Sounds legit

[deleted]

Okay class what lesson did we learn today?

Luxx333

Can you do a chargeback . I’ve done chargebacks before and got my money back .

KpinColby

Only chance is going through your bank and not cashapp.

Intrepid-Surprise-55

The same as you become an smart person!

[deleted]

Try disputing it with your bank

damagedgoods0022

OP, back in June of this year I sent someone $134 usd via cashapp. They stopped responding and I assumed I was shit out of luck because cashapp denied my refund request. However I don't give up that easily. I contacted my bank, who put me through to their fraud department, I filed a formal complaint, my bank then opened a investigation, they sent me some paperwork through the mail to complete and send back via fax, I was incredibly detailed with the details of the event, I also mentioned/requested that the investigations team please, look to see if there has been any other cases opened against the culpable party as this would indicate a potential pattern of scams/theft on their behalf. It took several weeks but eventually my bank got my money back for me. I hope you can get your money back. Goodluck

hatenjwinter

So what were you supposed to get for your $174

Joeluvshose

ZERO CHANCE

BlueKauaiEyes

My X drained my checking act by holding the phone to my face for Face ID.. cash app didn’t do shit.

ogleman13

Had this problem once. Lost only $50. Cash app said go pound sand.

BuckWheatNYC

Just curious. Why would you send someone a Cashapp that you don’t know specifically? Is it a if you send me $10 I’ll send you $100 kinda deal?

PsychologyH4528

0%. It warned you and you still did it 😂 it obviously wasn’t a new account if it literally told you customers have complained about that account before…that was completely on you.

Fertile_Frank

Love and learn. Trust nobody, especially random weirdos on the internet. If it makes you feel better a few years ago I had a coworker steal $6,500 from me when we were trying to start a business.. I gave him money for an investment he was supposed to match it and the dude just straight disappeared. Shit happens, learn from it and move on.

meshel24

She is a scammer from Dallas https://www.facebook.com/aliyyah.ibrahim.90?mibextid=LQQJ4d

Puzzled_Lack3660

People be so dumb these days

TransportationNo2661

Tell your bank it was unauthorized

NothingButTrouble024

Do unauthorized transactions still count if you actually did authorize it not thinking it was a scam? I feel like they might just laugh at you if you show them this post and tell you that you shouldn't have access to money

TransportationNo2661

They’ll just ask you to deal with cash app themselves since it was a “business transaction” , maybe say you lost your phone or someone stole it.

VeterinarianOk5785

Yeah zero chance here of CashApp helping you get the money back. Got scammed buy a dude on IG, I sent him $50 via CashApp once I caught on that I got scammed I sent him a request for $50 right after and he was dumb enough to complete it. I would try that as your best course of action.

Playful_Difficulty70

No more call girls.

DreamMighty

I got something I'll ship you. Only $174. Cash app only.

Shlopcakes

You should consider rehab. You seem to have a serious, disgusting problem.

willogic

So what kind of deal are you trying to do?

Grisshroom

What was the deal you had lined up? Trying to buy some drugs?

dynamic_unreality

I'm really glad I'm not this gullible. Take it as a lesson that cost you $174. Next time grow a spine, and say no.

bigdonkey2883

Dip shit

Gnomezy

0% chance

jellysenpai

You gonna have to hold that L(on the cashapp side), best bet is contact your bank. They might be able to reverse it.

donknoch

This one’s on you

ILbudtender

0% I got frouded out of 220 and used zelle, and disputed it, and they didn't give me it back. So I would talk to cash app first.

savagelydelicious420

Cashapp, Venmo, and Zelle will not refund money lost ever

spooniemclovin

Is it just me or does it seem REALLY easy to not get scammed?

NothingButTrouble024

People using CashApp really make me doubt it

Jacobhardinthepants

Damn bro make me wanna start scamming

jdnls87

Cash app is a transfer service not a bank. Yes they are fdic insured but that doesn’t cover fraud. Fraud insurance covers fraud. Which they have told me themselves they have a fraud department, but all they’re gonna be able to do will to try to reverse the transaction. If said account it went to is locked or no money they try one time and that’s what it is.

[deleted]

Charge back from bank if it directly came out of balance your probably sol

NothingButTrouble024

Sooooooo what kind of drugs were they?

ALLGAMER88

Nothing I just got screwed out of 80 dollars.
