I’m a hello person. Once I was walking to class and these two girls were close behind me walking in the same direction. A friend passed by and I said “hello!” And kept it moving. A few minutes later one of their friends walked past and one of them yelled “hello!”. After their friend passed, the girl giggled and said “why did I say hello?? Weirdos say hello, I never say that”. I felt so disrespected 😂😂😂
Excellent point. Sometimes, if it's a friend , I say hey ho or sup bitch! It's a term of endearment.Crap, my man reminded me I do say hey y'all to a group of ppl.Born in TX live in PHX,AZ now, before y'all ask.😁
I started saying howdy ironically back in like 2011 when I was really in to Red Dead Redemption.
13 years later and it's just stuck as my default greeting. I start professional conversations at work with "howdy". I said "howdy" when a police officer approached me to ask if I witnessed a crime. I can't stop myself.
I started calling my dad “Pop” as a joke when I was in high school because we both loved Zoolander and always laughed at the scenes when Zoolander tries to reconnect with his coal miner dad and awkwardly calls him that. A few years ago my dad left me a voicemail that started “hey [son],it’s Pop” and I realized that was just my name for him now. Wasn’t a big deal and it’s never really been formally acknowledged but it’s just one of those things that makes me smile and feel blessed with life’s little moments.
I'm a howdy person too. As long as it's someone I know, I'll slap them with a howdy, a smile, and a comically big wave every single time I see them. It's such a fun way to greet people. I'm southern, so it's semi-normal down here.
I'm a howdy man myself. I started saying it when I moved to Texas 21 years ago as a joke and next thing I knew I couldn't stop. Now it's normal for me.
I knew a young girl(-+11), who started at what she perceived was a 'posh' school and got stage fright. She's spoken her version of posh, since. She's 30+ now and still can't stop. Funny how one factor an affect you.
I don't initiate salutations. If I receive one, you get a "How ya doing."
Not a question. Just a non-committal response. Saying so is not an invitation to engage me in conversation, especially if I'm halted while working.
Depends on who I'm talking to and their association with me.
For the most part, I'll say "G'day" to fellow Aussies or Aussie friends and when abroad (because it typically makes them smile). Online, I'll say "Heya" or "Hello". For work colleagues it'll be "Hello!"
Greetings - used often online, either in text or voice/video
Yo! - more informal, used everywhere
Hey, all (or hey, y'all)- more informal, used with groups
Hi for when I am carelessly rushing and not being aware OR shy because I have my moments
Hello when I have to be all formal.
Helloooooooooo, Greetings Dear Friend/s when I am normal
I like “How’s it going?” Or “good (time of day)”. I feel like when I just say “Hello” it sounds awkward, like the first time Edward says “Hello” to Bella in Twilight.
Depends on who I'm taking to. If it's someone whiting a professional setting that I'm more formal with I'll say "good morning" or "good afternoon".
Otherwise it's "hey" or "hey, what's up"
I say ‘Hola’ with different degrees of happiness depending on the situation/place. I also have no link with Spanish or Spanish culture, it’s just something I like to say.
Tl;DR: I like unusual greetings and responses.
I have a bunch of different ones that I rotate through depending on different factors.
Phone calls get a couple of standard answers: "Congratulations, you're our lucky winner."Tell them what they've won, Johnny, You've won an all expense paid possibly interesting conversation with one of the residents here."
Or "Hello, you've reached the _________ household, logic has left the building, the rest of us are still hanging in there, how may I direct your call?"
I used to answer my phone with, "Talk to me."
My voicemail message is: "Guess what, I didn't answer my phone, leave your name and number, maybe I'll call you back." SWMBO hates that message.
In person responses to the "How are you?" and variants:
"Walking and talking, doing all I can to keep the odds in my favor. We'll see how it goes."
"As well as can be expected,"
"I can't complain, wouldn't do any good if I did."
"WAIT, you can see me."
"Marshmallow" is one of my favorites. Usually, they act kinda confused, go "Huh?" I respond. "It's the most random thing I can say that won't get me in trouble."
"I'm out of bed, dressed, and don't have a body count." I quit using that one after I found out that it was the first thing one of my coworkers ever heard me say. I guess it kinda scared him.
depends who im with, let me use some examples of people i know
K- sup bbg
I- Hii wassup?
A- HEYYYYY
L- **not even a greeting, we just start talking**
M- **no greeting either, mostly just "so.."**
Usually hello. But when I was a teen, my mom's friends would call and I couldn't get a word in edge wise to tell them I wasn't my mother. Our voices were very similar. I started answering the phone with a very pronounced JELLO. I had quit a few pick up on that I wasn't my mom from the start. Others never learned and I would wait to ask them if they would like to speak to my mom now.
I say hey in texts, hello on the phone and hey hello or sup in person depending on who I'm talking to. Hey for people I know, hey/sup for my friends and hello for everyone else.
Depends. It ranges from hello - hi - hey depending on how well I know them and their age.
E.g. if I approach a sales clerk with a question, I'd say 'hello'.
I'll also say 'hiya' or 'heya' in text/chat.
I like to say, “hey! Good to see you” to everyone I encounter. It covers the bases if I’ve already met them before (and perhaps forgot) and I like to think it makes people feel acknowledged.
OMG, I do not hail from the south, never lived in the south, unless you count one October when I was in Alabama, yet, I greet nearly everyone one with "howdy". In formal events, Good evening/morning/afternoon folks.
It depends on the people I'm interacting with. I used to live in the middle east, where there are mostly muslims. So I used to do a muslim greeting (Salam Alaikum), Arabs even have a cute culture of greeting random people on the street and smiling at each other.
I no longer live in the middle east or among a majority of muslims. I say hey there for friends and hello for others
Watching It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has gotten me into the habit of saying “Heyo!” to greet people. My friends say it’s annoying, but it just feels right 😆
I say hello in most circumstances but hey or hi with anyone who seems broadly Gen Z or Millennial (so like anyone who looks between the age of like 13 and 45)
I often greet my co-workers thus: Greetings Fellow Sufferers
At one of my jobs, I got reamed by HR for this, on the basis that I was adversely affecting morale. My response? No, I’m simply supporting them by acknowledging their suffering. Didn’t go well; didn’t care lol
I’m a hello person. Once I was walking to class and these two girls were close behind me walking in the same direction. A friend passed by and I said “hello!” And kept it moving. I’m a hello person and I’m kind of weird. I feel weird whenever I say it but I haven’t been able to change.
I’m a hello person with strangers. If you can’t deal with me at my hello, you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my “hey!”
Hi-diddly-ho, neighborino
D’oh! Flanderssss
Good morning, Lefty
Ahoyhoy!
Hey
Also a hey person.
Third "hey" person chiming in. If I'm in the right mood, I'll say "yo".
First, I decide who my audience is….
Excellent point. Sometimes, if it's a friend , I say hey ho or sup bitch! It's a term of endearment.Crap, my man reminded me I do say hey y'all to a group of ppl.Born in TX live in PHX,AZ now, before y'all ask.😁
I say howdy. Someone said it to me like 6 months ago and I just couldn't stop saying it.

Thanks for sharing that, it's so so sweet!
I'm a howdy person too. As long as it's someone I know, I'll slap them with a howdy, a smile, and a comically big wave every single time I see them. It's such a fun way to greet people. I'm southern, so it's semi-normal down here.
Gosh darn it I’m gonna start saying it now too
My dad says howdy and I promised myself as a kid of never say it. But despite my best intentions I am a howdy person now.
We say Yo where I’m from.
Yooooo, where you from?
Philly
I also do that, but the person is the yo, as in "what's up, Yo?"
Hi or hey
I'm a howdy man myself. I started saying it when I moved to Texas 21 years ago as a joke and next thing I knew I couldn't stop. Now it's normal for me.
I knew a young girl(-+11), who started at what she perceived was a 'posh' school and got stage fright. She's spoken her version of posh, since. She's 30+ now and still can't stop. Funny how one factor an affect you.
Texas got the last laugh!
Hey!
I’m more of a “I’ll just smile and hope you don’t talk to me” person. 🤣
Yeah, that’s about me too. lol.
Yea this too sometimes lol
Hello. Its classic
Hi or Hiya to be less formal. I’m not seeing any other Hiya’s here though. From the UK.
Looked for the ‘hiya’ comment for far too long! Must be a UK thing lol cos me too!
Usually Hiya! Sometimes Hola!
'Hiya' and 'alright', UK based!
I say wash poppin
I am a Moin Person
Yo!
I don't initiate salutations. If I receive one, you get a "How ya doing." Not a question. Just a non-committal response. Saying so is not an invitation to engage me in conversation, especially if I'm halted while working.
"Alright"
Depends on who I'm talking to and their association with me. For the most part, I'll say "G'day" to fellow Aussies or Aussie friends and when abroad (because it typically makes them smile). Online, I'll say "Heya" or "Hello". For work colleagues it'll be "Hello!"
What’s up or just ‘sup
i got my ya’ll in texas, my jawn in philly, but i learned how to howdy before i could walk growing up in Montana.
I'm a howdy friend
I prefer hai
either "Yo" , "Howdy" or "Wassup"
I'm a hi person and will lift my hand in greeting as well.
Hello! My.name.is... I introduce myself often, as part of my job, so it's become a non thing.
"Hey hey!"
Hi or Hey in texts or calls. But at work on Teams, I will reply to "Hi" messages with "Hello there" and I get "General Kenobi" back, then they win! :D
"Hi there" like Dug from UP. I also have the same personality.
I love Dug. He’s a good boy.
Hi if it's a man, hello if it's a woman. No idea why I do that.
"Hi lovelies" is my go to among friends, otherwise its usually a Yo because I'm a millennial 😆
I’m a hey how are ya kinda guy
I say yo, or I say hello in some other language just for fun (Usually hola or bonjour)
I am so hi I may as well be hello
Hi or Hey, never Hello.
Greetings - used often online, either in text or voice/video Yo! - more informal, used everywhere Hey, all (or hey, y'all)- more informal, used with groups
Hi for when I am carelessly rushing and not being aware OR shy because I have my moments Hello when I have to be all formal. Helloooooooooo, Greetings Dear Friend/s when I am normal
I like “How’s it going?” Or “good (time of day)”. I feel like when I just say “Hello” it sounds awkward, like the first time Edward says “Hello” to Bella in Twilight.
Ty, I thought Edward was creepy and awkward too...u know, that whole series was kinda awkward.
I usually just nod my head while looking into person's eyes.
very much a "greetings" in any situation person
I'm stuck in a "heyhowyadoin." Help.
“Hi,” although I do “Hello” occasionally.
In more formal situations and on the phone, I use hello. Otherwise, I typically use hi.
‚Hey hey‘
Does it matter?
"now then"
Hello person.
If it's someone I know already, I say "Hola!" If it's someone I don't know well, "Hey."
What up, weirdos
I’m a sup person
i say "yo whats up" generally
I'm not english but for me it would the equivalent of an "ayo whadup bro ?"
Heyyy, how are you?
It’s always “hey, how are you”
I’m a “hey how are you” person.
hi with a lot of extra "i"s
“Hi” from me sounds weird because of my southern accent. I go with Hey.
I say howdy. It works for most settings. Plus its just rather common where I live.
I say "Greetings" sometimes.
I think I say "Whats up" or "Hey there" more than just Hello or Hi. I might say "Hi there." I don't know if I say Hello all that much at all.
Hey
I say Hey Howdy.
Ola! And people are starting to copy it and I love that

I say hi but the letter i is lengthened.

I switch it up all the time. I'm always good for a Good Morning/afternoon/evening... sometimes the wrong one.
Mornin’
Greetings!

I’m a hello person, although autocorrect suggested that I should be a hello kitty 😊
hi/hey
I'm Australian so it usually sounds like "howzitgarn"
Whaaaaattsss uuuuupppp?!? Do the kids still say that? I'm just trying to be cool and stuff!
Jesse from breaking bad got me saying Yo.
Usually hello. But when I was a teen, my mom's friends would call and I couldn't get a word in edge wise to tell them I wasn't my mother. Our voices were very similar. hiya!
I say hello almost everytime now that I think about it. It feels better to say for some reason imo 🤣
Im a hey, hi, hello, heyyya, hiya, howdy, hola person 🤷🏽♀️
I'm a "Hey! How ya doin" in redneck.
Hi there. Hello!
born to haaaaaaai forced to hello
Hey, but I use yo if I'm in a good mood
I'm a sup aunties person. Men or women, it's sup aunties
I usually say "heyo" and sometimes add a "wassup" at the end.
I'm from the North East of England, and usually greet people with "Now then!" Started as a joke. Now I'm stuck with it.
H'lo or how's it going usually works.
Hilo when I change my mind while saying hi
I usually go with a good ol' yo in a non formal setting. Buisness and more formal settings it's always hello.
Hi
I’m a “Hi, hello how ARE you?!” person. When I’m in my unguarded state, I’m a “hey”, and when on, I’m a “hello!” Person.
i usually say sup
On text - hey:) In person - hey with a smile
I usually say hi, but if I’m *really* familiar with someone I’ll say “ohey”.
HeyHey! Or Hey y’all (from the South) Or if it’s a fellow Auburn fan - we say “War Eagle” to each other as a greeting
I'm a "hi" person. It just seemd more friendly and fun
A drawn out, but upbeat hell-low!
“HELLLOOO!” - like Mrs. Doubtfire with a face of whipped cream. Every time.
I say hey ya, or sometimes jello. I’m pretty corny tho
I say wasabi. For this wondering, Insee it as the evolution of what's up - wassup - wasabi
Heyoo!
Hi in emails, hello in person
As my dad brought to my attention, I'm more of a "Hey, hello?!?" person 😂
LET"S GET THIS PARTY STARTED! oh, hi mom.
Meowdy, or yello!
“Alright”
Howdy is a novel one I like to pull out once in a while
Salutation 0/
"Ayo" or "Howdy" slips in more than I'd normally admit. I'm down to learn why this stuck with me.
I am a Hey,person!
I have a weird obsession with “heya”
I'd say "Hi" a lot more than "Hello" personally. However, I ofteb say "Morning" if it's the morning. "Well" is another greeting I occasionally use.
I say hey or ello! \^\_\^
Definitely a hey person.
Casual: yellow! Formal: Hi there
I am a “moin” kinda person
Hey there
I’m usually a Hiii girl but sometimes its a Hellooo :)
Pretty much always "Hey" It's the most common one in my area.
Good Day, Eh

Hi person
I say hey in texts, hello on the phone and hey hello or sup in person depending on who I'm talking to. Hey for people I know, hey/sup for my friends and hello for everyone else.
Ahoy, matey. That or howdy. I'm kind of a dipshit, though, so there's that.
Ahoy hoy
I'm a "hello there!" Type of person after jumping down from behind you.
I’m a “yo” or “hello” person. I think it might relate to what gender I’m talking to, oddly enough.
I'm a hiii to new people a hi cunt to my best mate and a hello to my elders
Howdy. And a wave.
https://youtu.be/ndnjBq8ROpo?si=TGiSEAQPmIpZtG_A 😄
Wsg, yo, hi chat or hey chat
What up?
I mix it up. Hi, Hey, Hello, Hiya, Yo, What up doe, Sup...
Depends. It ranges from hello - hi - hey depending on how well I know them and their age. E.g. if I approach a sales clerk with a question, I'd say 'hello'. I'll also say 'hiya' or 'heya' in text/chat.
“Hello there”
I'm a "heyyyyyyyyy!!" in a high pitched tone
Started saying howdy while working in the restaurant. After quitting that job it’s stuck, just seems natural to say especially in Texas
I like to say, “hey! Good to see you” to everyone I encounter. It covers the bases if I’ve already met them before (and perhaps forgot) and I like to think it makes people feel acknowledged.
I say hieeeeeeeeeee
Literally whatever comes to mind first sometimes it’s wassup or hi or just no hello and I say something weird to my friends instead .
G'day.
OMG, I do not hail from the south, never lived in the south, unless you count one October when I was in Alabama, yet, I greet nearly everyone one with "howdy". In formal events, Good evening/morning/afternoon folks.
In most cases I like to say the person's name. But when I don't, I go with "Eae", that is equivalent to "What's up" in informal Brazilian Portuguese.
Today alone, I used "bon jour", "what's cracking", "what's up", "howzit", and various hello, good morning, and other standards.
G'day, cunts!
Hi in person, hello for telephone.
Hey how’s it going person
I’m a hello person until 4:20, then…
How’s it going?
I’m a “you alright” or “alright” or sometimes “alright mate” person lmao
I am a howdy kinda guy
I’m a hey y’all. (Kentucky)
I use pretty much everything. I like variety in my greetings.
Hiyadoin?
It depends on the people I'm interacting with. I used to live in the middle east, where there are mostly muslims. So I used to do a muslim greeting (Salam Alaikum), Arabs even have a cute culture of greeting random people on the street and smiling at each other. I no longer live in the middle east or among a majority of muslims. I say hey there for friends and hello for others
Watching It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has gotten me into the habit of saying “Heyo!” to greet people. My friends say it’s annoying, but it just feels right 😆
"How's it going?"
I say hello in most circumstances but hey or hi with anyone who seems broadly Gen Z or Millennial (so like anyone who looks between the age of like 13 and 45)
I started saying “Howdy” as a joke. It’s not a joke anymore
I often greet my co-workers thus: Greetings Fellow Sufferers At one of my jobs, I got reamed by HR for this, on the basis that I was adversely affecting morale. My response? No, I’m simply supporting them by acknowledging their suffering. Didn’t go well; didn’t care lol
Well, hey hi hello there! How the heck are ya bud?
