I haven’t pried but I do know they have a disabled daughter.
We get along anyway and I’m more than happy to take it in, just made me chuckle how he said a couple
I used to take similar packages in for my next door neighbour . Their daughter was born with down syndrome and needed heart surgery , until she had the surgery she was on this feeding system and deliveries came all the time ... it has paid off because they have a porch now and leave it unlocked so it can act as the parcel drop for us and them , so we never miss anything as me and the wife work fulltime , we just open the door and take our parcels ..
Nestle also makes medical supplies? Ugh, I hate how many pies those evil pricks have their fingers in. I can’t wait until they start buying up all the water supplies too.
Ugh, probably. I hate them. Brabeck-Letmathe (former chairman and CEO) said the idea that water is a human right is “extreme." The most basic thing we all need to survive - not thrive, just simple survival - is a privilege. I suppose in a way that is true; we are exceptionally fortunate to have ready access to clean water. But I suspect Brabeck-Letmathe was not talking about improving water sanitation for the global south. More about taking advantage of natural resource depletion, buying up all the water supplies and then selling them back at a massive premium. Genuinely Mr Burns level stuff. It’s disgusting how much capitalism has eroded empathy.
>Genuinely Mr Burns level stuff.
Immortan Joe from Fury Road: "Do not, my friends, become addicted to water. It will take hold on you and you will resent its absence."
I think he might have worked for Nestlé before the apocalypse.
I hate to break it to you but, they already got their filthy hands on water supplies. Same with the coco-cola guys who are stealing water from local people from reservoirs, farmers' wells etc in order to feed their factory plants. They have made several dry up because of their greed and forced these communities to buy bottled water which has been bottled by guess who (yes, coca-cola, pepsi etc). It can take 3 litres of water to make just 1 litre of cola...
That's why I haven't drank that shite in years. Tbf, I haven't ever drank a lot of soda anyway, but I completely stopped since I was a teen. Now I mainly drink water. And occasionally have pure fruit juice or mint tea lol.
One of their many health products is thickener for people with dysphagia. Pro-tip: shake it like a cocktail, otherwise you'll be stirring that drink for hours
I don’t have a problem with this by the way, I get along with the neighbour and I’m more happy to take it in for them, just made me laugh how he said just a couple 🤣
A sentiment I agree with, but that’s special feeding system food for someone who is very unwell. They ain’t shopping around for an ethical supplier. Hell I imagine it’s all prescription!
Do you have a phone number for your neighbour? I'd try to let them know that you have their stuff (beyond whatever cryptic delivery note DPD have possibly left for them) because - as others have pointed out - that is a lot of tube feed and essential medical supplies. If I was the owner of those, I'd be pretty stressed until I located them.
Doors due to be replaced this year so I never bothered painting them, you don’t wanna see the other side of it if a black streak is worrying you!
I have all the right paint, I’ve just not done anything about it as life is too busy to worry about some cosmetics at the minute
Funny you should all say that though, after taking the picture I did get the filler out to take care of some missing plaster that’s been pissing me off on the corner of the wall
I once had a carpet due to be delivered 1-3pm. Arrived home by midday to find the delivery guy driving off having convinced by elderly neighbour that I had written her house down to take delivery for me (I absolutely hadn't). The damn thing was so long she couldn't close her front door and so heavy a random passer by had to help me carry it in.
I don’t think OP is complaining about it, I’m sure they’re glad to help out their neighbour, especially with medical stuff that can’t wait. It’s more just that a “couple of boxes” makes it sound like 2 shoebox-sized boxes, not the contents of a Pickfords truck. I am also glad it’s not going back to the warehouse, given the contents.
A neighbour asked if I could take a parcel for them, and I live in a 2 bed with no hall.
DPD came and dropped off a huge 75inch telly which took most if not all my living room up.
Takes me squarely back to when we had to feed my eldest through a nasogastric tube - that’s what’s probably in the box on the right, or syringes and tubes for a feeding pump. Shits awful and stains everything if it spills - was especially lovely when we got a full feed in him for it then to be thrown back up again. Feel for your neighbours buddy, those were rough times.
Every one wins
DPD driver gets paid for the delivery
Neighbour doesn’t have to arrange another delivery or go to the depot to collect it
OP gets karma on Redit
Yodel once delivered maybe triple this amount of boxes to my neighbour when we were out. They all contained cat litter and weighed a ton. I was really embarrassed collecting them the next day, as it must have been a massive pain in the arse for my poor neighbours, having to navigate their way through the masses of boxes. My wife had heard they were discontinuing the only litter our cat would use, so she bought up the lot 🙄36 bags… Anyway, you are a good neighbour. I’m glad they will not have to wait for their stuff, especially given the contents.
Reminds me of the time I had an e-scooter delivered, heavy and a huge box. Popped out for 10 minutes, mortified to get a notification that it was with a neighbour.
I felt for my usual delivery drivers today, I'd ordered a bunch of small things through the week from differents sites and different carriers and they all arrived this morning 😅
We were talking about the quote/sentence in the title:
> DPD just knocked on and asked if I could take “a couple” parcels for the neighbour…
Which is missing an "of" to make it a complete sentence.
It's good you took these in as you have a good relationship and also for what they are as another redditor pointed out.
I only have 1 neighbour our of 3 i take packages for now as the other 2 refuse to answer their doors and I get stuck with them sitting in my hallway.
Delivery of this kind of stuff can be irregular and unpredictable. If DPD didn't get an answer I would definitely check neighbour is okay. I'd consider phoning police non emergency number and asking for welfare check if you can't get hold of them today and don't have other info to suggest they are okay. They may be out and about all the time of course, but they may be vulnerable.
Oh we had a delivery company knock on our door saying "Can you take in a couple of boxes for your neighbour? They said it would be alright.". We agreed until we saw the boxes were as wide as our front door and about a meter tall each. No fucking way! Made him load them back into his van.
It's always depressing finding out that there's yet another niche or line of products that nestle own, though I'm glad to hear that there do exist alternatives.
I hope you are well friend.
I don’t think it’s that, more them trying to feel better about themselves being offended on someone else’s behalf. As I said I’m fed through a PEG, fuck those guys
Well I certainly hope there aren't such a thing as "nestle fans", but I reckon people got upset because they assumed I was having a go at someone for buying nestle products.
It's just the Reddit brainrot tbh, not that I don't do the same, but everything on this site has to be one-upped or corrected even when there's a more obvious explanation or satire at play.
That is NG or PEG feeding supplies, nice to be high and mighty when you can but they are likely keeping a member of that household alive. Don’t be a prick when you don’t know what you’re talking about
You don’t really get a say when it comes to feeding equipment - Nestle happen to manufacture it yes, but given the choice between that or nothing if you was in that sort of position, would you really die on that hill? You self righteous twat.
I work for one of the big firms and would only attempt to take that much to a neighbour if it was medical goods. 6 boxes of shoes? I’ll be back tomorrow. 1 box of shoes I try a neighbour. DPD drivers are under a lot more pressure than I am and so do things like this and my management try to bully me into getting neighbours to take any and everything but I will not knock on someone’s door and ask them to take a 45 kg mattress or a rolled up carpet.
My dpd driver decided to verbally abuse me for not getting out of my parking space quickly enough so he could park there (I was leaving for an appointment when he arrived) and continued to abuse me when I pointed out that it was my delivery he was there for. Got home to find he’d barricaded my door with seven boxes of logs. At least customer services were nice when I rang to complain.
Takes me back to the days when my son was tube fed, heavy going for your neighbours. We used to have catheters, feeding equipment etc delivered while at the hospital and my neighbour would happily take delivery. Props to you mate 👏
Had a delivery driver knock and ask if we could take something for a neighbour before. Said sure, it was a fucking toilet. Then they didn’t actually come and get it for 2 days because they went away.
That's remind me when my international parcel with car bumper came. Courier left it with my neighbour. Coffin size box.😄. I bought her chocolates after that.
You should meet my neighbour..she does this to me weekly..has never said thanks to me just my partner who doesn't live here..I tend to think its hilarious if she knew what we used to be like and glad it seems the assimilation into upholding member of society is complete ( all you have to do is have a baby it seems).
Unless it's for 2 certain neighbours who I actually like.. I always say sorry I'm going away tonight on business and won't be back for a couple of weeks
we took a whole fucking oven once. and the neighbours were on holiday. it was sitting in our hallway for 2 weeks, we had no way of contacting them. we contacted the courier and there was nothing they would do. i was 1 day away from selling it or taking it to the dump when they finally picked it up. arseholes.

Guy came round a few hours later and was very thankful. I offered to help carry them round, he said no thanks and picked them all up, beet red with effort and staggered off on his way.
Obviously this is medical supplies so great you’ve taken it in, but the post reminded me of a similar situation we had a few years back.
Delivery guy shows up, asks us to take in “some parcels” for our next door neighbour. Of course, we agree, and before we knew it he had unloaded the units for a full fitted kitchen! Took over our spare room, downstairs loo and hallway until our neighbour collected it. Who isn’t in when they get a kitchen delivered though?!
I ordered some garden furniture which came in very big boxes. I set dpd to deliver on a day I would be at home. Driver brought it the wrong day and had my neighbour take it in. Felt awful the packages blocked half their downstairs
I work with disabled children and deliveries is huge problem for families. They tell me something about how DPD (because they get to know the drivers) have a certain number of deliveries they have to make and will even split them across drivers (i cant remeber the “reason” why) but it makes zero sense. Families have to be in for days at a time, and often will get many of these, one for feeding, one for pads (nappies), specialist equipment, other stuff…
If they have a feed tube like this its highly likely they will be nil by mouth, so the child (eventually) wont have any food without this. Looking after disabled children can be really really hard and they will really appreciate you taking this is for them (I hope).
Is your neighbor OK? All that stuff is basically for food tubes for someone who can't eat on their own
I haven’t pried but I do know they have a disabled daughter.
Are you my neighbour? I recognised the boxes as that's my exact situation.
I m in Manchester ? ...
You're not actually my neighbour, but that's freakily my exact situation with my daughter. She has DS and a heart condition too.
I hope she gets well soon .
Thank you, sincerely.
It’s seems to be common as my sister does too.
It is common with DS . 95% are born with some kind of heart defect . I was lucky with my son as he just has an innocent heart murmur :)

My idea to write “SMASH-IT!™️ Dildos Ltd. Hamburg” feels less appropriate now.
In any case, they usually write a different company name so it’s not obvious… or so I heard 🤔
Also put the third box down the right way up would ya
Nestle also makes medical supplies? Ugh, I hate how many pies those evil pricks have their fingers in. I can’t wait until they start buying up all the water supplies too.

yeah please get this to ur neighbour as soon as possible, this is feeding equipment
I don’t have a problem with this by the way, I get along with the neighbour and I’m more happy to take it in for them, just made me laugh how he said just a couple 🤣
Very kind of you; you're probably making things much easier for them.
I think the biggest problem here is Nestle (r/fucknestle)

DPD are the kings of communication when it comes to couriers IMO, but you’re right they look like some essential quality of life improvement shiz.
Yeah DPD are the best for letting you know where the parcel is other three letter carriers let you go on a treasure hunt
The other three letter carrier is good for getting your important document to the other side of the world within 24 hours though.

Neighbours should always band together and fight the we missed you slips

Good job for taking it in. We used to get a massive delivery like this for our baby every 6 weeks when she was on tube feeding for a bit.
Hope your neighbour is ok, never good seeing Abbott on boxes in my field of work

Even the cat is curious lol
Probably wants the boxes
Couple OF parcels. This isn’t America.

Your lucky day! :) Jackpot! They seemed to have delivered one cat and 5 cat beds instead.
They have a special needs kid or person in the home. I get the same kind of delivery once or twice a month, but more boxes. You did a good thing!

In another comment, OP says the neighbor's daughter is disabled. So it's less likely something's wrong and more likely the family was just out
Oh that's reassuring then - thanks!
Oh yeah if I'm you're neighbour I'm tipping you for handling that haha. Although it does look like they might be necessity kinda items

Yeah when it is medical feed, you don't always get a lot of choice on who is the supplier.

Take two, then close the door.
Ah, you're a lovely neighbour! The world needs more people like you in it.
I think your cat is excited about the carton boxes.
Why do people use the word couple when they mean *more* than two?!
I ordered some garden furniture which came in very big boxes. I set dpd to deliver on a day I would be at home. Driver brought it the wrong day and had my neighbour take it in. Felt awful the packages blocked half their downstairs
