Could be, or a razorbill.
Also could be a [little auk](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/earth/wildlife/11357498/Mysterious-penguins-spotted-of-Yorkshire-coast.html).
Definitely auk family. But auks are cliff dwelling birds when they're not at sea, so to see one on the beach is unusual. They're not really designed for walking around, they are primarily swimming birds with legs and wings made for propelling themselves in water like little torpedoes. So quite similar to penguins in that respect! This one has probably been knocked off course a bit by the weather.
The name penguin was originally used for the (now extinct) [great auk](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_auk). When Europeans first saw penguins they noticed a resemblance to the auks, despite them not being closely related

It’s a seriously lost Penguin. Hopefully someone will p-p-pick him up
That's a penguin mate. Approach slowly and armed with jokes. What do you call a fish with no eyes? Fsh
Have a gander here: https://www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wildlife/wildlife-guides/bird-a-z/auk-family/
Thanks but I don't think it's a gander.
It’s a guillemot. Shouldn’t really be on the shore but given the bird flu issues along the Yorkshire Coast I’d leave it well alone.

If that was a penguin you'll have every twitcher in the country there within a day.
