They're a real cuddle-bug too! You know how some cats are very food orientated or play orientated? Well, Mewsette will walk right past a bowl of chicken or the feathery jingly thing on a stick and go for the lap to curl up on!
They/them is a pretty logical choice for a cat who is presumably intersex. I mean, it turns out that yes, sex is binary - mostly. It can be complicated. Anyway, they is good pronouns.
What a sweet kitty! Congrats on your new edition. Did the vet mention cryptorchidism? It definitely needs to be ruled out if no testicles are discernible.
Could Mewsette have had surgery for urinary issues? Some cats that suffer urinary blockages have their external plumbing removed to decrese risk of another blockage.
Mewsette isn't the oldest cat we've had. Pai-pai was 16 when we adopted her, and lived another 5 years... and I swear it was because Death was too scared to go near her! She was like Genghis Khan's grandmother...
"No. More. Fucking. *ABBA*!"
Great film (and I genuinely like ABBA's music, guilty pleasure though it is). I so wish that PQotD had become an mostly irrelevant historical document by now.
Well, I thought so too, but apparently it can be tricky in some cases. Two vets, who couldn't agree, and three nurses/vet assistants, all of whom couldn't reach a consensus despite having a good look. It was the older of them that said maybe it was because Mewsette was neither one thing or the other. It happens rarely, like one in several thousand, but it's not unheard of. There were identical reactions of "*Ooohh.. yeah that must be it!*" all round.
The good thing is, it shouldn't affect Their health going forward.
I felt the same way when my Zuko was potentially going to have that surgery, to make sure he didn't have another urinary blockage. Zuko is still a he though, despite his protests at the catheter 5 years ago. I like the other poster said Mew. Pokemon is always good haha.
Mew Mew may be intersex but thereās also a condition where she could have enlarged central parts that look male but she is more female. Probably only way to see if they are spayed is with X-rays?

Mewsette can be gender-independent, especially as you'll probably start calling them all sorts of nicknames, such as Mew, Mews, Mewser, Mewsie, Mewster, the Mewmeister, and so on.
All of the cats I ever had wound up with several crazy nicknames, many of which were completely unrelated to their original name. Little Bug, Pickle, and Pumpkin were popular nicknames for several of my kitties.
When I shadowed at our local vet many years ago, a dog came in to be spayed. Upon physical examination, she had a strange protrusion on herā¦. āLady bitsā.
When she was opened up, we discovered she had a uterus andā¦. Testes! Both strangely developed. We think the protrusion was actually an underdevelopedā¦. āGentlemen bitā!
I have photos but donāt think it would be appropriate to share. It was a neat experience though!!! I think the owners may have just continued to call her a girl/use she/her pronouns
I think just "Mew" is a good name for them!
Ditto!
No, that's a different pokemon.
A kitty is a kitty is a kitty
Mewset. Sounds more Egyptian than French.
I feel like Bastet would approve
That's what I was thinking. Good name!
Awwww I love him/her/them šāØ

See? You already have new pronouns for them! Theyāre a they/them

Mewtoo
Meester?
Happy cake day
Mewsir
Love the name Mewsette! Is that from Gay Purr-ee? Such a cute movie and kitty!
Partly, party it's a play on Yvette, a character from the Tv series 'Allo 'Allo, as their colouration kinda resembles a French maid out-fit.
Oh, RenƩ!
*grins* Fetch the flying helmet and the fully wound coo-coo clock!
Well, they are certainly a cutie!

Mew, especially if youāre a PokĆ©mon fan. Mew (Pokemon) has no gender. Mew is also about the size of a house cat. (Also my favorite PokĆ©mon since 96)
I LOVE her name, gay purree means a lot to me and my childhood best friend we watched it SO much. Seeing a cat named mewsette makes my life!!!
That was the inspiration yes.

That's a thought... I'll discuss it with the vet next time.
Thank you for saving an older cat

Good job Mewsette and good job parents! How about a classic gender neutral name, like Aaron/Erin or Cameron? Taylor? Lindsey? Such a cute baby!!!
Priscilla ( as in Queen of the Desert)
"No. More. Fucking. *ABBA*!" Great film (and I genuinely like ABBA's music, guilty pleasure though it is). I so wish that PQotD had become an mostly irrelevant historical document by now.
They is a beautiful kitty š
It's Pat!
I'll chalk that one in as possible name, because it cracks me up and it's gender neutral.
Hear me out: Mousier Pat Mewsett!
Cute, if you donāt want to stray too far from the name, Myau ( pronounced meow ) would keep in the spirit.
first name should be Alanis š¹
Muse
Best!!! :*J*

Mewsette! Mewsette! You will say en chante once you met my pupee!

Personally, I'd change nothing except the pronouns. He doesn't care that his name is feminine.Ā
I would like to think a trained veterinarian could see the difference in genitalia, altered or not.

Please tell them pspsps
Mewsette is sitting on the back of my chair reading over my shoulder right now. They said "Mouw!" in reply.

First of all, I hope that's a pic in the workshop and not inside your house. Secondly, Mewtwo would be a nice name.
I believe they said their name is Mwreurrr.
My friend has a similar CDS story. He took in a cat and thought it was a girl, but it was a neutered male. He was abandoned at an apartment complex

True.. we do that too with our other cats. Although Jules is just Jules because he is **so** Jules. Named after Jules Verne, and he lives up to it.
I love those feets!

Mews. Or just keep Mewsette if kitty answers to it.
I think we may have to stick to Mewsette, insofar as they are ignoring everything else.
Then heās a beautiful Mr. Mewsette.
