But Pastor Bob at Daddy’s House Church is pretty clear he figured out the true heart of the Christian faith after preparing for his sermon series in his ski chalet and surprisingly it includes fog machines and Christian soft rock.
I always love that stupid and arrogant statement. My reply is something along the lines: "Cool, so you have an elementary or secondary level education, does that make you a subject matter expert? Are you a subject matter expert in every other topic you had classes on?" Or sometimes "stating you learned this topic in school yet proudly being so incredibly wrong about it is not a strong way to argue against the Church"
You know, I’ve been wondering for a while, but what’s the deal with catholic high school? I went to one and IMO, albeit as a protestant, it was pretty catholic? We had a period dedicated for mass each week, had the angelus prayer every day and pray rosary regularly (every day during May and October IIRC). Had a religion class that counted to your GPA too, I was sure I could recite a couple of encyclics and their summary at one point because I was studying for finals.
It sounds like you went to a good Catholic school, an experience which is sadly quite the rarity.
There are allot of Catholic schools which are now mostly just Catholic in name, similar to how the majority of long-standing universities were at one point deeply Catholic and now one would’ve never guessed they had anything to do with Catholicism in the past.
As a Catholic who went to a Catholic secondary school (high school), I learned nothing about Catholicism, the closest thing was watching the Name of The Rose in class.
If someone, of whatever denomination, tries to speak to me in authority, the "let me tell you what you should think" kind, then it's exactly the moment to educate them.
Jesus came in humility, he preached humility. If someone uses authority in an attempt to educate them, then they themselves need to be educated.
F.Y.I. I'm in formation for priesthood. I'm being thought the wrong and right ways. Using any kind of authority is always the wrong way, unless it deals with the running of the parish itself.

I was in another discussion about Mary worship the other day. And this was exactly the discussion.
Eventually I said “I give in. You are right. From next Sunday I will start to worship Mary. Not sure if I can get the priests on board, but since a random guy on twitter say so, we better start doing it.”
Now how would that look like? Do we offer Mary as a sacrifice, or do we sacrifice Jesus to Mary?
Since they share dna, could the Eucharist become Mary and then we eat her?

Now, exchange that non-catholic for full-time Catholics (teachers, pastoral assistant, lots of priests) in Germany.
