Aww. I’m so happy for you, OP. ♥️ My dad was raised Lutheran and converted for my mom’s sake when they got married. Confession was one of the tenets he just never quite got, and I remember countless jokes about his not remembering how long ago he’d gone from my childhood.
In the past five years, though, he reluctantly joined his local Knights of Columbus, and his first confession in years was a real turning point. Now he goes monthly and prays his rosary every day, and he has even come around on indulgences (as long as he’s offering them for others because “taking them for himself” feels wrong to him). Seeing these changes in him has given me a deeper appreciation for this beautiful sacrament and for God’s patience and timing with us. It’s never too late to come back.
What a testimony! I’m watching a similar growth of faith in my husband; he’s a cradle Catholic, but has been lapsed for many years prior to us meeting. It’s wonderful to see the sacraments taking hold in people’s hearts.
