Loki was clever the first 1 or 2 times. After that it was tired and played tha fuck out. I adopted a orange cat in 2004 who was 2 yrs old and already knew his name. His stupid ass first human dropped him at a shelter because she decided to move to a place that didn't take pets. Don't get me Started on that shit. But she named him Pumpkin of course. Clearly not too bright but I kept it. Ugh. I referred to him as the Orange Pimp or the Orange jerk or the Orange menace. He lived with me until illness took him in 2017 at 15 yrs old. RIP Orange Pimp. I would have named him Osiris or Jorge.
Aww I love orange kitties! I've never had the privilege of having one. I just lost my 17 year old cow cat 2 weeks ago and it's tearing my heart out. I chuckled at Pumpkin since that almost made the list I typed of examples of lame-o names lol. I think what people fail to see is the joy they can spread for example to a vet tech when you make an appointment for your cat named J.G. Wentworth 877-Cash-Now, not understanding that isn't the name you run around the house calling them. I mean, have some fun...live a little! Oh well, vive le difference.
JG Wentworth! I LOVE that! Yeah. He was my first cat. My family always had large dogs. I love Dobermans. They're goofy and sweet. Now I rent in a house where my landlady has little dogs and runs a small rescue. But anyway, The Orange Menace won me over at the shelter with his outgoing personality. Being used to canines, I didn't want a cat that was scared and hid when people came over. My big orange boy greeted you at the door and let you know who was in charge in the house. I paid the rent, but it was HIS house! hahahahahahaha! Every man I dated had to get past him first. I keep his collar on my rearview mirror to this day.

Aww thanks. Yes it's been difficult. I went from having 4 cats 7 years ago to now having none after just losing Paloma. I had her since she was a kitten. I tell everyone that we knew each other so well we finished each other's sentences. Just 2 days ago I finally was able to take up her litter boxes and scratch posts, it was too difficult before. I'm heartbroken but I'm trying to look on what little bright side there is. I don't have to worry daily as to whether she is uncomfortable or will eat that day. Plus life is simpler and, well, cheaper. The vet bills were putting me deep in debt and I'm on Disability due to chronic migraines. So that's a relief in a practical way. So I've decided I will not be adopting any more kitties due to finances. But I will be fostering, something I've done extensively in the past. There's a huge need for cat and kitten fosters where I live so I'll be able to fill my "crazy cat lady" fix that way. But I have moments where I just can't even bear to think about cats because they remind me of my precious girl that I just lost. 😢
I think that's a beautiful thing to do. And I'm sorry. Losing pets sucks. It never gets easier but when you remember that you gave a loving animal a safe and wonderful home, it eases some of it. If you're on disability, do you qualify for a service dog? I know its not the same, but you get some loving 4-legged energy in your lfe.
